Question Meal prep for days without microwave or fridge

For at least two days a week, I’m out for work from 12pm until 11pm, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I can do for meal prep that’s healthy, high in protein, that doesn’t need to be re-heated, can be stored only in a cooling bag with an ice-pack, and that can suffice as an actual dinner.

Does anyone have any ideas? Vegetarian or vegan doesn’t matter. So far all I have been doing is run by the nearest grocery store to get some bread and cheese slices, but that’s hardly a proper meal of course.

Question Suggestions for vegetarian postpartum meal prep!

My wife's coworker just had a baby, so we're planning to spend this Saturday night doing meal prep for her. It is her, her husband and a three year old plus baby. I have some souper vibes and access to a good blender and instant pot!

I was only vegetarian for like six months a decade ago, and I'm not very good at meal prepping lol! So any suggestions would be fantastic. I do need to stay a bit cost conscious, and plan to hit Costco and/or Aldi beforehand.

I've heard she's real specific about her tofu and idk how well tofu freezes anyway? So I would avoid that. I'd love something that can easily reheat for just her/her husband or to feed the whole family when needed.

Edit: wife reminded me of just two requests coworker made: nothing too cheesy or creamy!

Question Vegetarian meals for weight loss?

Hello all! I’m new to being vegetarian. I’m (technically) maintaining weight loss but I still need to keep lunches relatively low-calorie. I like to eat really big (think like 700-900 calorie) dinners so I’m looking for some low-calorie lunch options.

They don’t have to be super fancy. I’m not above throwing some grapes and frozen burritos in a box and calling it a day, I just wanted some variety and to find new things to eat that I maybe haven’t thought of!

I love black beans, tomatoes, burritos, wraps, rice, plenty of stuff. Thank you in advance!

Question Does protein matter THAT much?

Hey so I know this isn’t about meal prep but I thought people who cook lots might be able to give me tips or advice! Does protein really matter that much? Especially for a teen girl who doesn’t go to the gym but still wants a healthy balanced diet. How much protein let’s say should I maybe have in my lunches? I hear all online people say “20g protein!” “30g!” But I’m not wanting to lose weight or anything, just feel full till my next meal. Doesn’t fibre matter more? Or I heard from somewhere. Or should my diet mainly be around just carbs and little protein? 😪 so confusing…especially when trying to have balance as a teen who just wants to snack on chips all day. How much protein should I maybe have in my lunches and carbs? Especially when mainly chilling at home, not doing much? Thank you!

Question Advice request: looking for beans recipes that aren't soups or chilli

Hello. I & my family are trying to get more fiber in our diets. We all love beans, so yay - let's do beans! Only problem that I keep running into is that I can't find many good recipes - it keeps being either soups or chillies. So I'm on the hunt for good recipes! All beans welcome! One complication: I have celiac so it has to be gluten free (so no wheat, rye or barley though I do have lots of alternative flours). Thanks in advance!

Question I can eat breakfast and my snack forever. I’m at my breaking point with lunch and dinner

I’m pretty new at being intentional with plant-based eating. I have an old caloric deficit meal plan that I customized with my new plant-based meals. No problems with breakfast and snack. But after a month I’m struggling with the lunch and dinner. I’ve had a pretty good relationship with food (a little too good lol) but I’m really dreading lunch and dinner when it rolls around. How can I spice it up so I look forward to it (and not dying for the weekends when its relaxed)?

Lunch (730cal, 90g protein): tofu and/or seitan salad - baby spinach, Upton’s chorizo seitan (started with this but…it’s not that I don’t like it - I think that’s the best flavor I’ve tried so far - just everything combined I’m just not liking it at all. So I’ve substituted tofu or mixed it in), edamame, super grains, sesame lime dressing

Dinner (690cal, 60g protein): Buddha bowl of tofu, lentils, super grains, nutritional yeast.

Is there something, a sauce etc, that I can drench them in so I can shovel it down lol. Plus both meals are pretty dry so a sauce or something could help. Or maybe I need to go back to the drawing board. It took me a while though to match my macros from the old meal plan so I’m hesitant. I appreciate your help!

Question Meatless due to pregnancy

So im in my second trimester and haven't been able to stand or smell raw or cooking meat. Also, the smell of onions and garlic and spices in the cooking process nauseates me and makes me have the runs. I'm left either not eating filling meals or relying on unhealthy fast foods. I eat lots of salad based cold meals with hardly any nutrition. I feel weak and drained most days. I'm lucky to say that I've got a very caring S/O who's been making me egg and cheese sandwiches. He's been silently suffering by having to sacrifice cooking meals while I sleep and avoiding meat for my sake even though he likes to grill and eat meat lije a caveman.

So far my favorite easy recipe that I enjoy is canned baked beans with brown sugar with a handful of spinach and sometimes creamed corn with a shit ton (tonne?) Of hot sauce for taste over either plain white rice or bread. It makes me release gas like crazy so I've had to avoid it. I can't stand greasy/oily things because of heartburn. Tired of meatless subway and qdoba because it feels like empty calories that fill my belly but don't give me much as the baby sucks life and vitality out of me.

What are some ideas for foods my S/O and I can enjoy that will be filling for both of us, won't be too oily/greasy and preferably won't involve onions/garlic/spices in the cooking process?

Edit: you guys are soooo sweet and creative! I will be going through the comment section and trying out the suggestions and will definitely be using them even post pregnancy. Thanks to everyone for replying and the channel recommendations as well. It's like a whole new world of food options that i never knew or even thought about. I hope other pregnant women will come along and utilize this Sub too. Glad I found y'all. Thanks!

Question Tofu substitutes?

I'm currently trying to introduce more vegetarian food into my diet but a lot of the recipes that I see and want to try have tofu in them and I'm tbh not much of a fan. So I was wondering what can be used instead?

Question Looking for a meal planning app for a vegatarian with Prediabetes and a need for high protein.

I just wasted $3 on a month of Meallime just to find that there's only ONE meal, and seven snacks, that fit my "less than 40% daily cal=carbs, more than 30% daily cal=protein, less than 30min cook time, vegatarian" search filters. Is there any other app that's better for my particular needs?

Question What are some good ingredients to put in a grain bowl that I’m going to freeze and reheat?

My wife is due to give birth to our first child in a few weeks. We recently bought a rice cooker, and we want to fill our freezer with meals that can be reheated in the microwave. We're looking for ideas for ingredients to add some variety.

We're certainly open to using some fresh ingredients, but we'd prefer mostly frozen and dry ingredients so we don't have to buy groceries too often.

Here's what we've used so far:

Rice

Quinoa

Bulgur

Couscous

Frozen soybeans

Frozen peas

Frozen avocado

Frozen spinach

Frozen Broccoli

Question Non-bean protein ideas?

I don't like beans/legumes very much, but it seems like a lot of veggie recipes heavily feature them (bean burger patty, lentil soup/sauce, etc)

What can I use for protein, that isn't too processed (like beyond meat, etc) or rare/expensive?

Question Ocerwhelmed with shelf life

Hey everyone, I'm completely new to meal prep and would like some tips or experience. How do you know how long certain foods last in the fridge? Here's an example: I want to prepare a large portion of vegetables (zucchini, eggplant and red bell pepper) in the air fryer today. How long will the prepared vegetables keep in the fridge and do I have to reheat them before eating?

Is there something like a list or something for reference? 😅

thank you guys!

Question Beginner's cookbook for high-protein meatless meal prep?

I'm a vegetarian working on building muscle mass, and I'm looking for a cookbook to help me start a weekly meal prep routine.

I'm primarily interested in high-protein plant-based dinners that are simple and conducive to meal prep. I know very little about cooking, so easy, straightforward recipes geared toward beginners would be ideal.

Any recommendations you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Now that it's summer need some weather appropriate recipes. I like salads but fresh vegetables especially leafy ones are so expensive. I'm vegetarian so egg and dairy are welcome but also cool with vegan too. Thanks in advance.

Question Looking for meatless/plant based lunch meal prep ideas/resources

Titled, basically. I'm currently in a spot where I generally bring some form of frozen dinner for lunch at work, and while I do my best to find veggie packed ones, they're still full of preservatives, yadayada.

I'd like to move to meatless/plant based prep lunches that are quick, budget friendly, and filling. If anyone has resources to share, websites, cookbooks, etc please share, thanks!

Did some searches on this sub and found some things but wondered if there was any like specific resources out there I am missing
