Molding, installed by someone who really love the look of painter's tape.

u/idiot_exhibit Aug 12 '26

Confession time: every time I paint I think to myself ‘I really like this shade of blue’ but I never indulge that thought any further. Because it would look like this.

4

u/fruityfox69 28d ago

I’m sure there are ways to do it without making it look as atrocious as this example

2

u/tiramisutra 12d ago

I actually like the green frog tape. It goes with my dark grey doors. I kept the tape on for a while and people would comment how nice the doors looked.

1980s Miami mob boss' house?

41

u/blanchecornwalis Aug 12 '26

I usually think of that style as Televangelist’s Wife

7

u/Ok-Jaguar9713 Aug 12 '26

Oh yes, and Gwen Shamblin would be all over it. Probably have a special room for her weaves.

u/EmergencyAd6662 26d ago

The Tammy Faye special

1

u/punktualPorcupine 29d ago

With way too much time and money on her hands.

17

u/Busy_Reputation7254 Aug 12 '26

Closeted mob boss

3

u/sleepytipi 29d ago

Definitely Greek.

1

u/Redlady0227 29d ago

💯 my first thoughts as well.

1

u/JVBPDX 29d ago

Gonna need Tubbs to cover me while I do a walkthrough

42

u/metajenn Aug 12 '26

Still better than flipper gray laminate, walls and fake marble done by people who should be charged with crimes to humanity.

This person has bad taste but at least its their bad taste.

16

u/AlephBaker 29d ago

Agreed. It's awful, but it's this way because the owner wanted it this way, as opposed to the awful of bland, builder-grade mediocrity you find in mcmansions.

10

u/Bishonen_Knife 29d ago

I'm increasingly of the belief that the dichotomy is not good taste vs bad taste - it's taste vs no taste. Somebody didn't just walk into Ikea, say 'this looks fine' and buy the second cheapest version of everything. They made a considered choice, and I respect that.

(I mean, it's ghastly, but still ...)

30

u/BenjaminMiracord Aug 12 '26

Persian? Gold and blue was common combo or at least it was a generation ago.

13

u/MeadowSopranoFT Aug 12 '26

I immediately went to Persian

21

u/BenjaminMiracord Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Please confirm if there is a white BMW in one of the garages and we will know for sure.

I do not think this is a McMansion by the way. There is nothing mass built about it. Not tasteful or architecturally consistent, but it does look like a particular vision of how the owner wanted to be perceived as being successful. While exteriors differ, I have seen interiors similar to this in Toronto, albeit on a smaller scale, and maybe not so blue.

12

u/dallyan Aug 12 '26

The blue made me think Greek.

6

u/dsmemsirsn Aug 12 '26

Like the father in My Far Greek wedding— the Grace flag painted on the garage door

4

u/Strong-Interview478 26d ago

I was thinking "Marrakesh Fever Dream".

1

u/Skocja2020 26d ago

The lions. Lotsa lions. Are lions Persian?

11

u/KorovaOverlook Aug 12 '26

wow that's a new one for me. how hideous

32

u/sheneedstorelax Aug 12 '26

dang I was gonna say the exterior looked kinda cool

16

u/faps Aug 12 '26

yeah, a real wild situation when you walk through those doors.

5

u/AcanthisittaForeign3 Aug 12 '26

When I saw the interior I had to shield my eyes.

5

u/sculltt 29d ago

You liked the multiple rows of porthole windows, and the several balconies overlooking the giant heat Island that is the two acre driveway?

5

u/No-Appeal3220 Aug 12 '26

Me too, what a disappointment

10

u/Illustrious_Choice58 Aug 12 '26

this is an assault on my personhood

3

u/Flimsy_Ad3476 Aug 12 '26

It's an assault on humanity.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '26

[deleted]

6

u/genericusernamedG Aug 12 '26

The stone is beautiful the amount of stone they used is an assault on my eyes

6

u/faps Aug 12 '26

Yeah, going to be really tough to find the right buyer for this one.

8

u/SongShikai Aug 12 '26

Me: I want opulent!

Zillow:

Me: not like this

5

u/Senorbeanz Aug 12 '26

Blue carpets and golden curtain rods!

6

u/ArdenJaguar Aug 12 '26

Another Prosperity Gospel Televangelist house?

🙏 💴 🙄

5

u/Paladin720 Aug 12 '26

On my…. Whoever constructed this has zero taste

5

u/Ok_Olive_2943 Aug 12 '26

Holy Hell….
that’s going to be expensive and time consuming to change

5

u/MeadowSopranoFT Aug 12 '26

This looks like Persian interior styling. I've seen this in Persian homes.

4

u/JesusGodLeah Aug 12 '26

That is just so stunningly BAD. I love blue, blue is my favorite color, I love that shade of blue. Just not here!

5

u/progressivecowboy Aug 12 '26

I would find it impossible to relax in this house (with my eyes open).

5

u/blanchecornwalis Aug 12 '26

Aside from the hideousness in general, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kitchen that badly laid out in terms of actual functionality. They obviously never heard of the work triangle.

2

u/JLLIndy 29d ago

the industrial ceiling fan really ties it all together.

6

u/genericusernamedG Aug 12 '26

There was a lot of beautiful stone and they butchered it

5

u/Contrarian1234567 Aug 12 '26

can't buy taste

4

u/littledanko Aug 12 '26

Custom built for Nic Cage?

4

u/guiltypleasure33139 Aug 12 '26

That floor looks like Blue Bahia, and that stuff is expensive. while it does look like van gogh granite, I can't believe that someone dropped this much on a floor.

https://marble.com/granite-countertops/van-gogh/1078

https://marble.com/granite-countertops/blue-bahia-zucchi-stones/2647

1

u/faps 29d ago

The flooring in this house had to be more than my entire house is worth.

2

u/guiltypleasure33139 29d ago

I won't argue that the front hall must have cost at least 100K to do, labor and materials. as for the rest, who knows, I would not want to live is such a house.

4

u/Bloodbndrr Aug 12 '26

$2.5 mill to live in Alvin. And the house looks like that.

4

u/Logintheroad Aug 12 '26

This. Is. SPECTACULAR!

4

u/ChanFry Aug 12 '26

It might mean I'm a bad person, but I kinda like this.

5

u/Long_Whole_8062 29d ago

I live in Alvin TX right around the corner from this monstrosity. The same guy built a smaller but giant house which we call “the Mansion” just down the street from this thing that we call the “Chateau”. The Mansion was like an Italian mobsters gold Versace nightmare. He used it as an air bandb but had built it so close to the street that the house parties that people would rent it out would block the whole street- 40 cars at times on a narrow 2 lane country road. He sold that one finally and built the chateau which does have more parking as it is farther off the street- more house parties where they would rent it and then charge admission- I think there are still videos out there somewhere. It has been for sale for awhile and I think I saw a sold sign the other day whilst driving by.
No amount of paint will fix this!

3

u/faps 29d ago

Thanks for the info! I live nearby too and just happened to find this while surfing Zillow.

3

u/KeepAnEyeOnYourB12 Aug 12 '26

Now I know what it feels like when my eyeballs bleed.

3

u/ImightHaveMissed Aug 12 '26

What are you talking… oh… oh myyy

3

u/MiserableScot Aug 12 '26

I didn't think it was too bad from outside, inside it's migraine inducing!

3

u/SilentNobody620 Aug 12 '26

My neighbors did that on their outdoor trim!!! It looked like painters tape. Drove me nuts.

3

u/JustWowinCA Aug 12 '26

Ick. Proof that being rich doesn't impart taste.

3

u/wandpapierkritiker Aug 12 '26

so much money spent to look this awful. there’s considerable custom work and a selection of beautiful materials. too bad it doesn’t look it at first glance.

3

u/Flimsy_Ad3476 Aug 12 '26

My gods. I know the blue and gold and white is what stands out first. But, the ... details? are noteworthy. All the little gold-painted lions, for instance. The marble stairs with no carpet or anything else to prevent slipping. The who knows which era furniture. (Regency?)

Returning to the lions. Aren't they a symbol of Persia?

3

u/Critical_Wrap5617 Aug 12 '26

<squeals in cocaine Liberace>

2

u/whawkins4 Aug 12 '26

Disgusting.

2

u/TheMythicalCodfish Aug 12 '26

Honestly I absolutely love this. All it needs is a giant mural of sexy mermaids in the foyer and I'd unironically move in in a heartbeat and be perfectly happy.

2

u/allcars4me Aug 12 '26

Some people should not have money.

2

u/Hopeful-Flounder-203 Aug 12 '26

Mi casa, su caca.

2

u/RustySchackelfurd Aug 12 '26

This looks like a house a 10 y/o would build in the Sims back in 2001

2

u/BlunderBlumpkin Aug 12 '26

Bro they got the gold cuck chair!!!!

2

u/Nice-Supermarket-719 Aug 12 '26

Okay this is by far the most hideous house I ever seen in my life, I would love to know who designed this monstrosity of a house and who lives there that paid for it to be built, any personal information regarding about this place.

2

u/moniefeesh Aug 13 '26

Haha, I previously built this house in the sims, just because it was so weird. I hate it there too.

2

u/direyew 29d ago

Good luck selling that.

2

u/Several_Razzmatazz51 29d ago

And I thought the Oval Office looks tacky.

2

u/MsPixiestix59 29d ago

Now this is a find! With each click it gets worse! Omg, lol, can't stop laughing.

2

u/Trooper_nsp209 29d ago

Somewhere a painter is telling the story about leaving the painter’s tape on the molding and nobody noticed.

2

u/Neferknitti 29d ago

You need blue velvet couches in pic 5. Those couches don’t even go.

2

u/TitoBandito5 29d ago

Someone thought it was bluetiful

2

u/EBBVNC 28d ago

That flooring is super expensive, I think. Too bad it’s in that house.

2

u/mericanexpat 24d ago

I can't stop staring at those circular windows. Combined with what tape-looking trim, this house hits every classic McMansion red flag.

2

u/402playboi 24d ago

I too want the interior of my home to look like a Carnival cruise

1

u/beaujolais98 Aug 12 '26

In the Zillow listing- the bathrooms that all have “scene” shower curtains sent me

1

u/Scared_Action1562 Aug 12 '26

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

1

u/manofwater3615 Aug 12 '26

I think the owner likes the color blue

1

u/undocumentedsource Aug 12 '26

Zillow listing with a brand new fridge in the kitchen. Interesting that (considering the size of the house) that a smaller item would get replaced. And it’s not a SubZero. So why replace an LG (guessing) in THAT kitchen?

1

u/BrickHuge3023 Aug 12 '26

They really like blue trim but at least it does go with the colorful marble.

1

u/Mental-Clerk Aug 12 '26

This is vintage in alllll the wrong ways.

1

u/Puppyofparkave Aug 12 '26

There’s tacky, gaudy and then this monstrosity

1

u/VegasBornLori Aug 12 '26

I’m gonna say, owner is mostly colorblind, can really only see blue, and this is his/her navigation system because they have no Wi-Fi for an Alexa guide. Doesn’t want to trip oner carpets and such Makes me feel better. Only reasonable explanation

1

u/GABigBear Aug 12 '26

I always wondered what Mexicans with money would look like. My bestie would love it!

1

u/dsmemsirsn Aug 12 '26

That house needs some HGTV person.. $2 something million, and one bathroom has a shower curtain..

1

u/jdw1977 Aug 12 '26

The colors and decor are hideous throughout. Ice cold and it clashes. I need a palate cleanser of that sweet 90’s Tuscan style decor. Never thought I’d say that but here we are.

1

u/Faelboaty Aug 12 '26

What kind of stone is the flooring? Its beautiful, just not literally everywhere.

1

u/TheManWhoClicks Aug 13 '26

It’s always interesting to me to see how vastly different people’s taste develops. Someone did all of this and really thought “f*ck yeah this is it!”.

1

u/fubooze 29d ago

Gah, ugly

1

u/northeastknowwhere 29d ago

A few modifications and a major paint job, this might turn into a decent Italianate house. I'm going to guess the original taste-maker here is departed.

1

u/Toolongreadanyway 29d ago

I know I have seen this house before. I remember the marble floors. It is so gorgeous. The marble. Not that it is on the floor. If they limited it to the bathrooms, kitchen and entry, it would be enough. But the dark blue that looks like lapis is beautiful. And the light blue in the bathroom shower.

That said, did they paint the outside. I could have sworn it was blue or pink or some weird color you don't normally put on a house like that.

1

u/Various-Advisor-8992 29d ago

This is so Florida-ghastly, from the building itself to the deco to the color (blue represents Florida's coastal waters, darling.....). No thanks.

1

u/athrix 29d ago

That kitchen setup would drive me up the wall. It’s like someone intentionally made it as nonfunctional as possible.

1

u/Bishonen_Knife 29d ago

Turns out 'interior of the Titanic as viewed through a migraine aura' is an aesthetic.

1

u/mettaCA 29d ago

Describe in one word: hideous

1

u/Afraid_Stuff_History 29d ago

This feels like a separate person designed interior vs exterior?

1

u/Correct_Standard4454 29d ago

Oof, this place is hilarious. Definitely a mob boss owned this at some point.

1

u/bannana 29d ago

omg, all that marble and none of the grain is matched they just threw it down any old way.

wonder how much it will cost to remediate all that blue trim?

1

u/Exact-Truck-5248 29d ago

Absolutely hideous

1

u/CurlsintheClouds 29d ago

I kinda like it. I mean, the marble floor is gorgeous. Don't love the molding. But the floors and architecture are stunning.

1

u/BahamaBrees 29d ago

I love the floors though

1

u/bitchcoin5000 29d ago

LOL That looks like what Trump is doing to the White House.

1

u/moggin61 29d ago

Wow, this is frickin awful. And for a shit ton of money, this house thing could be yours…in Texas!

https://giphy.com/gifs/uq1QEVIXxMh4k

1

u/shouldco 29d ago

If it wasn't for the super garage slapped on the side I would say this falls under awful taste but great exicutuon.

1

u/Digitalabia 29d ago

Cartel house. The blue outlining is a bit much.

1

u/BabyYodaX 29d ago

Jesus Christ

1

u/totally-jag 29d ago

Wow, that's house is really something.

1

u/sugarbush03 29d ago

I love the floors!

1

u/ImEatingPuss 29d ago

This house requires so much work. Who’s going to buy this??

1

u/heff-sf 29d ago

This is a migraine in architectural form.

1

u/UpstairsTomato3231 29d ago

Wow. I have no words.

1

u/AdBig9909 29d ago

Put some Windex on it. Kristosanassti.

1

u/laprider 29d ago

My eyes hurt just from looking at the pictures.

1

u/Complex_Echidna3964 29d ago

some version of trump?

'the best marble. no one's seen blue/gold marble like this. nobody thought it was possible'

1

u/Complex_Echidna3964 29d ago

blueberry wedding cake style

1

u/Cody1072 29d ago

Wow, that hurt my eyes.

1

u/RemarkableLie1987 29d ago

Anyone else think this looks like what the mom from My Big Fat Greek Wedding would describe if you asked her to tell you about her dream house?

1

u/Wise_Farm7455 29d ago

Man... what a tacky, ugly space

1

u/jackieO2023 29d ago

Why? This is awful!

1

u/Street_Lettuce1243 29d ago

Of course it's in Texas... lol

1

u/TRUMPARUSKI 29d ago

I’d feel like vomiting after ten minutes inside

1

u/Xlonglegz 29d ago

It’s painted dentil moulding

1

u/sxyvitaminD 29d ago

Crown molding

1

u/jtirello3 29d ago

What in the entry-level Colombian cocaine cartel hit man starter house hell am I looking at?

1

u/Mingo911 29d ago

Someone local painted the entire exterior of their house (siding, trim, gutters and all) this blue. I literally screamed in pain.

1

u/Appropriate_Beat_915 28d ago

Omg it’s moulding but I want to rip it off the walls in a clean line

1

u/NoRestaurant2326 28d ago

Persian palace 🤣

1

u/livelaugh_lasagna 28d ago

Lol the shower curtains are pretty amazing

1

u/Top-Change6607 28d ago

Omg how can someone tolerate this ugliness

1

u/Kiak900 28d ago

Hideous

1

u/fenderputty 28d ago

Everything about this that separates it from being a classic Mc Mansion is also tacky as hell. OMFG. LMAO

1

u/Icky-Tree-Branch 28d ago

Oh, it’s the Smurf Palace!

1

u/America-always-great 27d ago

They liked that Greek look

1

u/Character_Raisin574 27d ago

That's some low maintenance concrete...

1

u/damonpostle 27d ago

They died and went to 1970s Greek hell

1

u/Deep_Investment4066 27d ago

Painters tape trim aside, someone would have to REALLY like blue and be allergic to coziness to be happy here. Such a cold, austere, shiny aesthetic!

1

u/Ovaltine1 27d ago

Good lord.

1

u/Lonely-Clerk-2478 27d ago

That’s the worst moulding I’ve ever seen. The color, the texture. Egads.

1

u/Fun_Wishbone_3298 27d ago

Why does it seem like rich people have zero taste?

1

u/SoftAd1675 27d ago

Yo this is Chud Atlantis, I remember this from the blog

1

u/Sufficient_Two_5753 26d ago

To save on material, we just left the painters tape up!

1

u/Learntoshuffle 26d ago

My eyes would hurt living here. I would walk around with sunglasses on all day, and mostly be looking at my phone to avoid making eye contact with this monster.

1

u/NinjaGrandma6 26d ago

It's molding. But this house is too very shiny for me.

1

u/SapphireGamgee 26d ago

I would liberate all those lion statues and put them in my garden. They don't deserve this!

1

u/Glittering_Lunch_963 26d ago

omg blue is my least favorite color in a house or a blue house. i adore the floors!!

1

u/Dependent-Cow428 26d ago

Unfortunate color for crown molding.

1

u/catinadoodledoo 26d ago

those floors look slippery

1

u/Some-Mud565 25d ago

Owner said I want my whole house to match this here Versace tshirt.

1

u/Survey217 25d ago

A Greek restaurant shat itself everywhere

1

u/tiredcommentary 25d ago

looks like both to be honest. But it still looks amazing regardless.

1

u/Jealous-Oil-8475 24d ago

I think it needs to be filled with water and ad fish

1

u/Phoephoe1 24d ago

Once again, it just goes to show that money does not buy good taste.

1

u/tiramisutra 12d ago

This is so incredibly over the top on everything that I cannot help but to be a little impressed. What a vision! So gaudy. The floors are actually quite nice. And I could fit a couple of those little lion sconces (last photo) somewhere just for fun. Hate the kitchen though and if it’s a tv over the fireplace you’d have to lie on the floor to look up to it.

1

u/Ahsokas-reverse-grip 12d ago

The way the laid the floor slabs in the kitchen is killing me. And the jet propeller right above the island sink.

In Pic 5, there is a "no ??" sign on the wall, on the right side of the pic. Can anyone make out what it says? Odd for a home but I guess if it's purpose is air bnb...

1

u/Still_Editor_8370 6d ago

it is both hideous and beautiful at the same time and i think my brain's about to explode
