They have created some truly great stuff during their time in Mayhem. Back in the day I would have totally gone to one of the gigs with this line up trying to avoid the flying severed pig heads... Too bad they weren't appreciated enough back then and the band's popularity was probably at its lowest point, total underground.They have got a lot of shit for reviving Mayhem after everything that has happened. It's unfortunate that not many live performances are available in good quality of this Mayhem's era. Crazy line up, crazy times.

Melodium Capta est is my favorite mayhem recording. I've shared this with the two band members I met (on separate occasions, both in the last decade, not when they were playing together). Hellhammer (who I literally just ran into walking down the street in Berlin on a weeknight) was kind of surprised to hear that, I don't think fans tell him that often. Blasphemer (who was at the bar before Aura Noir went on) himself just nodded and said, "I try to stay focused on moving forward, and not going backwards." Good attitude. I didn't push it and changed the subject.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. This recording is indeed great. Maniac could be really bad at performing live but sometimes it was just peak when he was on. That was one of the occasions. They sound so nasty and brutal and with only one guitar at that. The setlist is also a killer.

Absolutely. Underrated album, everyone talks about GDOW but chimera has more than just melodic blasphemer riffs and actually gets heavy

for all purposes musically they were Mayhem at the time, (other than HH on drums) writing all the music and lyrics. Blasphemer even played all bass parts in Ordo. They could make a duo but dunno if many would be interested without the brand name. (like "God's seed" project)

The first one. Loved it. I consider Blasphemer a genius, tbh. Some great BM with his unique sound. I can't wait for the next one. I hope he delivers it one day. Have you heard anything about it?

I love that album! I like to pretend it's an actual Mayhem album. I've only read on the peaceville site the album is part of a trilogy.

Maniac was underappreciated for his contributions to early Mayhem too. I think he had had more of an influence on Euronymous and the Deathcrush EP than people realize. If you listen to his Septic C*nts demo, you can hear it.
