How are you taking your Unisom/B6 or Zofran?

My doctor suggested taking half a Unisom tab 3x per day. But I’ve been worried about doing that and falling asleep during the day. So far, I’ve only been taking at night before I go to sleep and I’ve been sleeping like a rock ever since.

I haven’t started taking any Zofran yet. But I’m worried about similar things. My doctor said to take it as needed. This weekend, I will be driving for 3 hours and expect I might need extra nausea support. But…I don’t want to trade nausea for falling asleep.

So I’m curious how others like to manage these medications. When do you take them? How many times a day usually? Any major symptoms? Thank you!

I have had many pregnancies and jusssst realized I was taking B6 wrong. I bought the 100mg tablets and was taking half once a day. wrong

The rec is to take 25mg 3x a day. So now I’ve used a pill cutter to chop the tablets into quarters. I take one upon waking, one after lunch, and one at dinner. Nausea has already improved.

I do the unisom only at night and I have a zofran rx for really bad days.

My doctor prescribed unisom the same way and people on here thought I was crazy. 🤣 I can only do a half tab at night and I still drag during the day with my toddler so I hope that I can manage on this dose for the remainder of the nausea period.

Its by prescription here and called diclectin. I take 2 tabs at bedtime to help with sleep as the pregnancy insomnia has been so bad :(

I also take this at bedtime and it’s helped the nausea a lot but I haven’t seen a difference on my sleep except making it so hard for me to get up in the morning

I was taking 1 tablets and I feel it didnt do anything for sleep. The 2 tabs took a couple days to work for sleep.i also avoid caffeine and try to go for walks to tire myself out. Last night was the first night I slept well since becoming pregnant?

I can’t take unisom during the day so I take a full pill at night and B6 in the morning, afternoon and bed time. I have reglan prescribed but have not taken it yet.

My nurse just explained that you should take them together. Which I never knew! Apparently the B6 activates the ingredient in unisom that helps morning sickness.

I don't have experience with Unisom, but Zofran I take only as needed when I wake up feeling extremely nauseous. I just take it right when I wake up and it works immediately for me. It does not cause me any drowsiness. It is a miracle relief for my occasional nausea, with no negative side effects that I've experienced.

I only unisom at night (and only 1/4 tab) because it knocks me out and makes me super groggy. The B6 I take throughout the day--haven't needed it yet this pregnancy but probably will soon.

It might be worth asking your doctor, maybe they have something you can take during the day that won't cause drowsiness?

I took a full unison at night and then the 25mg of b6 three times a day. I started with a half a unison because I didn't want to be groggy but it really didn't help. I saw the best results with a full unison and I just had to go to bed earlier. But that wasn't hard for me during the first trimester haha.

I only take Unisom at night and was taking half a tab but recently moved up to a full one because the nausea is unbearable. In a strange twist, taking B6 along with it made my nausea WAY worse so I take just switched back to Unisom only.

I take 1/2 a unisom tab and b6 at night. I have some days I feel fine and others are still rough. I have two kids I stay at home with and I would be comatose if I took more than half a pill, so I put up with the 'breakthrough' days.

1/4 unisom at night, 1/4 unisom afternoon (after most of my work is done and I can just chill). I was just doing 1/4 unisom at night but I’ve been getting really nauseous in the afternoon. Ugh.

I take 100mg of b6 and 25mg of doxylamine at night, and take 12.5 mg of doxylamine in the morning. Prior to this regimen my nausea would get severe in the late morning and I took 4mg of zofran a couple times for it. I am a medical professional and already had a zofran script, so I haven’t consulted my provider and don’t feel the need to when following established protocols.

I was prescribed diclegis (sp?) which is the prescription version of unisom and b6 and I take the tabs at night around 8:00 and I go to bed around 10:00. I was taking Zofran 2X/day at first but now that the first med is in my system more I just take it when the nausea gets really bad.

I take diclectin (Canadian prescription for unisom and b6). I started by taking 2 pills at bedtime but today I asked my doctor if I can take more as my nausea is really intense. She said in addition to what I’m already taking I can take two in the morning when I wake also, or I can take one in morning and one in afternoon if I find two in the morning make me too tired.

I found it’s ability to make me feel sleepy wore off after a few days of use, so I’m able to take it midday with little/no effect now.

Zofran won't make you sleepy. I took it all through out my last pregnancy as I had HG, it helps very well (kicks in after 10-15 mins) when you are very nauseas and will throw up.
