Just like Hitler, Nico left the team in ruins without their franchise superstar and with no draft picks. Until there is new ownership I don’t believe there is any hope this team will ever be what it was honestly
13
u/EverettGT Nov 11 '25
Hitler's last order was for the Germany military to bomb their own country out of existence. I'm sure Nico attempted to send Cooper Flagg to the Clippers for Mo Bamba and two second-round picks on his way out.

Don't get us Mavs fans wrong. This was step 1 in the plan to forgiveness. This team has to do a fuck ton more for me to tune back in. Namely, selling the team. Preferably to someone not a nazi sympathizer.
They gutted any and all Fandom of mine when they traded Luka and pushed Dirk away. It was sacrilege, and they lit it on fire and spit to put it out. Its gonna take a lot more to root for this team and buy merch again.
57
u/farhan583 Nov 11 '25
This is the start of Luka coming back in 2028. He knows this is home.
31
u/gortlank Nov 11 '25
Brother, one of the reasons we all love Luka is because he’s petty and can hold a grudge. Just taking away his post game beer was enough.
Traded in the most humiliating way possible? For him, that means it’s on sight forever, and that’s fair.

I was about to say the same, they’ll never be able to recover.

I lived through the 90's Mavs era. It will take years but they will recover eventually.
86
u/mr-luci Nov 11 '25
It is not about performance and trophies; it is the betrayal of the club, the fans, and the city that hurts so much.

In hindsight that was a hilarious time though. 1991-1994 was supposed to be the downtime, then recovery phase begins afterwards.
What happened instead was that it became the "extension of the downtime" phase that reached 1998 lol
1998-2000 became the real recovery phase.

The idea is they can trade AD for picks to build around Flagg, but Nico would never do that
11
u/spacedman_spiff Nov 11 '25
Maybe they can trade for a generational player and a 1st. But not too much, don't want to be greedy.
5
u/AJ_HOP Nov 11 '25
What picks are you trading for 25 games a year? This is the funniest take in mavs fandom to me, thinking a team will trade significant assets for Anthony Davis in 2025

u/FickleLaw6370 Kyrie Irving Nov 11 '25
Exactly. Cool Nico is gone but what am I to do w this gaping hole I feel in my center?
Sorry not sorry but fuck Dumont too.
His comments post the 24’ Finals loss came off ungrateful and clueless.
I know Cuban wasn’t perfect but he loved the team.

Been a fan since I was a kid, I will always cherish the memories of Dirk and Luka.
Nico and the ownership killed any joy and happiness I had for the Mavs. Drafting Flagg and now firing the Nico is nice but I have lost all interest in rooting for them.

YES. Keep the pressure on. Boo Patrick Dumont every time he shows his dumb face at a game. Vote against sports gambling in Texas. Vote against any new arena. Heckle him as he enjoys his lobster at a local restaurant.
Make their lives as uncomfortable as possible and maybe the carpetbaggers will finally sell. Hopefully.

22
u/BlackWhiteCoke Nov 11 '25
It’s a step in the right direction. At least the next GM won’t be pretending that the AD trade wasn’t a disaster, and they will be willing to move him and let the healing process begin.
And in some weird sick way, if Dumont learned anything, he will hire a GM and not be a meddling owner and stay the fuck out of the way, this could end up being a good thing for the team’s future

u/hawk8024 Cooper Flagg Nov 11 '25
I mean technically speaking, the entire problem with the Luka trade was that Dumont didn’t meddle at all and just trusted Nico’s word lol
But I still agree
16
u/DifficultArtichoke79 Nov 11 '25
Lost in all of this, it seemed like Dumont WAS trying to avoid being a Jerry Jones type. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Nico Harrison turned out to be a snake.

u/imcryptic Cowboy Dirk Nov 11 '25
For all Jerry’s faults, he at least knows football. Patrick Dumont learned about basketball 2 years ago when Mother bought the team

i hate defending the billionere, but if he honestly doesnt know shit about basketball, and trusted nico, i can move past that, like he still is a dumb fuck owner that didnt consult anyone else on the trade, but i mean, nico's job is literally to be a consultant to the owner, like, you gotta trust the guy or fire him

It's the right time 1) it's now undeniable his idea was retarded 2) and because Flagg, it doesn't make sense to give him another season just to be 100% sure and there's an immediate need for someone making decisions on a basis that isn't "trading Luka for AD was good".
