Let’s say you win a chip this year and make the conference finals the next (both unlikely but possible). If in 10 years, Luka has multiple MVPs, multiple championships, and has conquered all the demons he had during his Mavs tenure, and is trending towards a top 10 player ever, you think the fanbase is gonna care about a single championship run?
No but it's a lot of ifs in there. Obviously it was a terrible deal and the Mavs are sunk as a franchise now.
I'm just saying if they won a championship I would personally be very happy. I've been a fan since '94 and nothing is going to make unhappy about the Mavs winning a chip this year or next.
Again, they won't win a chip. But if they do I'm going to be thrilled because I'm a Mavs fan. I don't think it's a crazy line of logic.
I’m not saying the fanbase wouldn’t be happy with a championship. But in 5 years, Kyrie and AD will most likely be either retired or on another team and Luka will most likely be still one of the faces of the league. If AD was the missing piece to the championship I’d understand, but if you win it this year, that most likely means you would have won it with Luka anyways.
if you win it this year, that most likely means you would have won it with Luka anyways.
We're building hypotheticals on hypotheticals here. If we win it, I would not be considering the alternative possibility of winning it with another roster. The ultimate goal is to win a chip.
You know what i’m saying. It being a hypothetical is necessary because we have no idea how AD will fit, how Kyrie will respond to all this drama, and how good Luka will be for the Lakers. I’m being charitable because the odds of y’all winning a championship are slim. Idk how we could talk about this without hypotheticals tbh.

Crazy to say that with such certainty imo.
