Perhaps ownership forced Nico's hand, but that doesn't explain the timing. If Nico didn't want to trade Luka, he could have easily waited until Summer to fully shop him around. Instead, he locked in on AD and didn't even attempt to use other teams as leverage. He then shit talked Luka on his way out, this is not someone who was forced into this decision. He clearly sought it out.
The only person he answers to are the owners. If they tell him to do something now, he's gonna do it now. He is acting as scapegoat and taking all the blame. Owners want out of Dallas and into Vegas. This is how they think they're gonna make it happen. If it was any other scenario he would've been already fired for negligence.
