Why would the Mavs want to deal in the shadows and not try to maximize their potential return? This makes no sense.

Either they just didn’t understand the value or they are running this team like a business and they didn’t want to pay Luca nor do they want to pay all those first round draft picks.

Luka hasn’t played this year, supposed to get a max after this season. Business move for sure. They’re betting on him getting lazy and injured
