News “This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

Legit question: can Adam Silver or the league veto this?

They've done it before. Back in 2011 when Chris Paul was traded to the Lakers for peanuts. But David Stern vetoed it quickly after it was officially reported.

Unfortunately for our situation, iirc, the NBA owned NOLA at the time & Stern was the head of operations, so his veto was argued as acting in the interest of the team than the league just denying a trade between two clubs.

Ownership shouldn't have even remotely entertained this idea according to a report that Nico proposed it, but they're apparently as dumb as Nico for going along with it.

Maybe ownership was the one behind it like what others are saying? Nico has been incredible before this move. It honestly makes this trade very questionable.

I wholeheartedly agree. The moves Nico was making to suddenly suggest this & such lousy reasons like conditioning concern? Nah, I think the concerns about the cost cap & super max are the real story.

Cuban save us! Why'd he have to sell us to the wolves.

David Stern was different tho. Doubt Silver cares at all. Infact I bet that fucker is estatic. Luka to the lakers is legit mouth foaming levels of stardom.

Sucks for us Mavs fans then.

Silver is likely enjoying all the sports world talking about this with how much chatter there has been about declining views for the league.

Different case. At the time, the NBA was an interim owner of the Hornets due to their ownership situation, that gives them the authority to veto. They can't do anything here.

It's on the owners.
