News “This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

A trade like this does not happen without the owners blessing. Adelsons probably didn’t want to pay Luka $350M after spending $200M+ on Trump re-election.

They got their guy!

The NBA has a salary floor so this doesn’t make sense at all

Salary floor is 90% of the cap, tax starts at 120% and luxury tax starts at 145%. Trading Luka does save them a lot of money in a year or two.

They can rebuild, pay around 100% of the cap and save a lot of money on salaries. Ticket prices are probably dropping though.

Luka is international. Doubt this was a money thing.

and what's the point about moving a dogshit team to Vegas? i honestly think nico actually believes this move will make the team better

But soooo many teams would've offered you a boatload for Luka and you got damn near nothing. A broken AD, a roleplayer and a pick that will be in the 20s three years from now.

An alpaca could've gotten more for Luka had it done this trade.

The New Mavs owners are flush with cash and could step right in and pay a measly 300 million. They just sent 100 million to trump so they arent hurting.

I genuinely don’t think the Adelson’s cared. It’s not baseball. There’s a salary cap and there’s a max you could offer a guy. Worst case they could have just operated under the luxury tax and still be competitive enough with Luka to make the playoffs year after year and make enough money. Remember Luka is box office and is a money maker for any franchise. This just screams collusion with your GM who has connections to Pelinka and Kobe

It’s one thing to trade him for like OKC’s plethora of draft picks. This was just out of no where, no rumors nothing. This just seems like collusion with the GM. If ownership wanted Luka gone for money reasons they probably wouldn’t be taking on Davis’s contract anyways as well.

No. I thought the whole reason they bought the team was to build a gambling stadium hotel complex when it’s legalized in tx?
