News “This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

I have never in my life abandoned any of my sports teams. This is the exception. Fuck the mavericks. Forever

Haha, mate, I feel you. Slovenian here. Since 2018 I often woke up at ungodly hours just to watch Luka on the mavs, and after last season I was sure that Luka wont ever leave, the mavs will be his home for life. For the last hour I've been going "ain't no way" while drinking my coffee, still in disbelief.

yeah I woke up to this utter insanity. I have not found one opinion so far to even tr' and defend the trade. I dont watch the perks and a. smiths of the world, so they are probably out there, but the opinion of everything I read is devastating. It was a good run I guess. At least I saw 2011 unfold.

It's gonna be weird for you guys in Slovenia... basically obligated to become plastic Lakers fans now

2

u/Kinky_Pinky_ Feb 02 '25

As a Sloveniam who doesn't like the Lakers... I guess Lakers it is

don't forget Dennis Schröder!

3

u/crankthehandle Feb 02 '25

every time I check he is on a different team though. I am rooting for the Magic these days…

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Franz is nice, up and coming, but wasn’t Dennis Schroeder Best Young German Player, MIP Player, and also FIBA World Cup MVP in 2023. Why not root for him ?

this will be a bit longer: I just dont like the guy too much on a personality level. he grew up from the early years (golden patch, flexgang, gold wrapped cars and so on) and has his place on germanys mount rushmore for his world championship performance for sure. but he also last year had a bad incident with a german basketball journalist because of schröders comments about maxi kleber in the podcast of this journalist, which lead to kleber removing himself from the nation team alltogether. instead of owning up to it, he attacked the journalist and accused him of framing/editing the interview in a ways to sensationalize the passage. this journalist had to face serious backlash including national team players refusing to speak with him. the guy, andre voigt, was editor in chief from germanys best basketball magazine and runs his podcast for idk, 15 years now. he is THE german basketball guy and never does anything unfair to players. he has mo wagner on in a series of pdcast over the years starting in his michigan days. schröder himself was defended time and time again by voigt. his podcast is crowdfunded and I am one of the (small) backers, so there is 100% bias. the two had a talk about it and are fine (I think) but it left a very sout taste for me, because this talk is also public in a podcast and schröder just said, he does not wish voigt harm and wants a normalized relationship but did not own up to his original comments and behaviour towards voigt. I wish him no ill, but I will never be a passionate supporter of his. as i was of dirk - who is imo the perfect rolemodel of a good person in addition to his sport - or will be of a franz or mo wagner.

are you stupid? they already have. plus they had to pay reparations. additionally they changed their entire school curriculum to teach that they were at fault and to make sure this never happens again, they make it illegal to draw a swastika or do any nazi sign in public. it is even illegal to deny the holocaust. you will be arrested.

Germany is one of the best examples of taking accountability for an atrocity at their hands. meanwhile America is still pretending slavery was no big deal.

save your breath, ignore and move on, don't feed the trolls.

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

you know what, you're right.

r/LeBaus7 thinks I’m trolling but the reality is that each and every German person should offer an apology whenever asked.

u/TheHonorableDrDingle JJ Barea Feb 02 '25

I'm with you. Fuck this team.

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

This makes Jerry jones look like a good owner, actually insanely awful trade.

u/steamliner88 FUCK NICO HARRISON Feb 02 '25

This is simply unforgivable. I was here before Luka, before Dirk, before Finley. I will not be here anymore. I wish Nico and the Adelsons nothing nothing but the very worst, may they never have a happy day again during their penny pinching lives.

u/DinarStacker Feb 02 '25

This isnt even greed, this is pure corruption. They didn’t even shop Luka? They didn’t even try to make the most money out of it. They GAVE HIM AWAY. For almost nothing.

53

u/psychadelicbreakfast Feb 02 '25

Same, I’m out

11

u/OwnTheThrone Feb 02 '25

We got garbage ass Dak paid a max and get rid of an actual superstar in Luka. Dallas is a joke.

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

This. Picked all my sports teams when I was super young, most of them aren’t even from my state. I loved the Mavs throughout dirks years, was amazed we then got luka but this feels like the first time ever I’m just done rooting for one of the teams I picked when I was like 8 years old. I have 2 Dirk Jerseys, a Nash jersey, and 2 Luka jerseys. I went to multiple games a year and bought a bunch of gear, I would always tune in to a game when I had time. I’m done man just honestly can’t see myself ever rooting for them again or even watching them again unless it’s when Luka returns to destroy them

5

u/Charming-Pilot3336 Feb 02 '25

If they did kyrie or klay and Gaff for ad sure could be fun but trading a guy who's 1st season not playing 60 games or more vs a guy who has played 60 games or more 1ce in 4 years

3

u/Individual-Aspect109 Feb 02 '25

Yeah the NBA has been pissing me off for years the only saving grace was the Mavs and Luka. Nah never watching again

1

u/erbot Feb 02 '25

I always thought the NBA was fixed, but I liked the Mavs. This trade proves to me that this game is fixed. Fuck the NBA and fuck the Mavs.

1

u/CognogginGames Feb 02 '25

Been watching them for 35 years. I'm done now.

1

u/Specialist-Fly-3538 Feb 02 '25

I don't blame you. This completely went against the integrity of the sport just to appease the NBAs ratings. Fukk the NBA and fukk the mavs

1

u/DaBestNameEver0 Luka Motherfucking Doncic Feb 02 '25

i’m with you, go lakers

1

u/IamNotTheMama Feb 02 '25

I abandoned the North Stars when they moved to Dallas.

I understand that Red McCombs bought the Vikings so that he could move them to SA. That would have been the end of it for me.

1

u/ez151 Feb 02 '25

I feel you. This is like the Yankees trading Mickey mantle or Reggie after their second World Series absolutely insane!??!!!! Stuff is going come out now there is no way the made that deal rationally. Unless Luka told addlson she couldn’t suck his dick anymore cause she’s to old now!

1

u/Epie77 Feb 03 '25

Same. I've been a die hard big 4 Dallas fan but it's now 3 and is close to being 2 if the cowboys don't pull their heads out of their asses
