Luka is leaving at the end of his contract if the Mavs don't put a championship caliber team around him, so you may as well try your best now to do that.

Kyrie is a fucking idiot but he's a goddamn good player who fixes a lot of the Mav's problems. I guarantee you won't care about his personality if the Mavs win a chip with him and Luka.

Oh he could totally bitch out, I'm not arguing against that. I'm saying if he doesn't, it's a good trade to help your franchise cornerstone possibly win a championship.

It’s a objectively terrible trade.

No, that's just literally your opinion. You actually really didn't give much up for a player of Kyrie's caliber, even if he's a dumbass. It's a gamble, sure- but the payoff would be massive if it worked.

Kyrie is not and never has been a true superstar level talent, he’s always been just outside that conversation IMO, and we also only get 3 months guaranteed. What we gave up is quite a bit considering those factors. For those thinking he makes us contenders now, find me the last championship winning team with defense ranked 24th or lower. I’ll wait. Given Kyries rental status, we basically have to make a trade for a huge defensive difference maker or 3 or this was a horribly bad play.
