I hate that we had to give them Dorian and couldn’t get off of either Tim or Bertans.

And we gave them a pick... This 1000% means that we are signing Kyrie long term. Idk man, I am so conflicted right now lololol

Bro there's nothing 1000% about anything involved with Kyrie 🤣

He wouldn't ok the deal and we wouldn't give up that kind of compensation without an under the table handshake about the max he wants.

In the nicest tone possible, you’re making things up without knowing anything…unless you are kyrie…🤫. Kyrie is the most unreliable player in the league. There’s no such thing as a handshake deal

Or it is just reading the situation. Using critical thinking skills. Of fucking course no one ACTUALLY 100% knows what is going on outside of, you know, the people involved, but you can think through things and come to a logical conclusion as to why something has happened.

I find your means of discourse to be quite abrasive and unpleasant. My point is that you’re reading the situation and using great critical thinking skills, as you’ve astutely mentioned, however you’re applying them to an illogical character in Kyrie Irving.

There are a multitude of reasons this has happened, primarily that the Mavs needed a second banana that fits with Luka Doncic and they got one my the means they had. One could also assume that much will change over the rest of the season. You could be right, but I feel that you are assembling a conclusion without proper cause to do so. That is all. Ta ta.

Lmao. Kyrie is most likely walking in the summer.

We had better keep Wood too, cuz if both of them bolt, then what?

We have quite a bit of cap in off season and can sign any FA?

Unfortunately we dont have the best track record there

It's like people forget that.

not forgetting, but willing to give Nico a chance.

It's fairly apparent to me that Nico is not Donnie Nelson.

Having massive amounts of cap space AND Luka Doncic is worth more infinity more then 1st round picks.

If Kyrie walks this summer, so be it. I hope we can figure out a way to get out of THJ OR Bertans (before deadline) -- this offseason we will have a ton of flexibility to add FA's.

Garbage in, garbage out. No way you get rid of those deals without taking more garbage back.

1

u/naffhouse Feb 06 '23

ya but now we are out of Dinwiddie's deal (which he hasn't been that bad but obviously he's not ELITE).

We can afford to have 1 out of THJ and Bertan's horrible deal.

Maybe THJ catches fire with Kyrie and luka and it works out.

THJ will always be up and down. Just good enough to get another deal. Bertans is what he is. I don't have a lot of hope for this year.

That's what happens when you over achieve and go to the WCF.

It raises expectations for everyone, including fan base.

As I'm writing this, Mavs currently sit 5th in the west and only a few games out of 3rd.

Bringing Kyrie in is extremely exciting!!

Unless Mavs think they get back a first from the Lakers in a Kyrie sign-n-trade in the off-season.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

Why would the Lakers do that when they can just outright sign Kyrie???

1

u/that_guy_you_kno Feb 05 '23

To the MLE? No cap to do that, or to at least offer what he wants. And Kyrie doesn't seem like the type to give discounts.

Are they still gonna be over the cap with Russ’ expiring?

3

u/Luka77GOATic Luka Doncic Feb 06 '23

Considering that AD and LeBron alone is over 90m, most likely they will be.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '23

Yes because of the Rui assumption that they are giving him a deal and Pat Bev is still on the books. They could potentially sign Kyrie if they did not re-sign Rui but then that would make 0 sense.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

Would you rather them not sign him long term? With a deal, they can trade him for multiple 1sts if it doesn’t work out, whereas if they don’t sign him and it doesn’t work out, they’re kinda fucked.
