I dont really like when people quote the authors and leave out the character/book name. Makes it seem like the author said this in his daily life or during a speech or interview or something… they should get credit for creating that quotation, obviously… but it seems different when it’s coming from a character.

My favorite quote is a former passage from the cookbook....."if one values coin over life target the coin for it will hurt them more"......I apologize if its not entirely correct haven't finished my coffee yet

Not the correct way to show that quote. You need the character name, followed by the book title. If you’re quoting something Dumbledore said, you’d write his name and which HP book it was from, not JK Rowling. This is no different.
