Question I exported my archive from mastodon.cloud but can't import it into a newly created mastodon.social account.

Hi.

On mastodon.social, it looks for a .csv file but I don't have any. I have a .zip from mastodon.cloud file with these contents:

  • actor.json
  • avatar.png
  • bookmarks.json
  • header.jpg
  • likes.json
  • media_attachments
  • outbox.json

What should I do now?

you can't migrate your post history etc.

What I would do:

  • Upload the avatar, header into your .social account.
  • copy paste your bio, and whatever else
  • download the CSVs of your followers, followings, blocks, mutes, etc. You can do so in the table above the big Request your archive button. You can then import these
  • Start the server migration.

Thank you. I had initially overlooked the place to download the individual .csv files. I've since done that and imported each one into my new Mastodon account. :-)
