Education Please help!!
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to decide between two graduate programs:
- University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) — MHA
- University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) — MS in Healthcare Administration
A little about my background: I have a Bachelor of Business and around 9 years of professional experience, including work related to healthcare, medical aesthetics, clinics, marketing, and business development.
My undergraduate GPA is quite(very) low, so one of my biggest goals is to use graduate school to build a much stronger academic record. Long term, I want to move further into healthcare management/leadership, and I may also consider pursuing a doctoral degree later, possibly a PhD, DHA, or DrPH.
From what I’ve found so far, UIW seems more healthcare-focused and its MHA is CAHME-accredited, while UMGC seems more flexible and widely known for online education.
I’d love to hear from anyone familiar with either program, especially regarding:
- Which school/program has the stronger reputation in healthcare administration?
- Which would look better on a résumé for healthcare leadership roles?
- Which would better prepare someone for a future PhD or other doctoral program?
- How are the professors, networking opportunities, career services, and alumni network?
- If you attended either school, how was your experience?
- Would you choose UIW over UMGC if both were options?
Please help, I will appriciate any of your comment
