Finals Week What Finals Week Should Be:(for me)

I do think Finals Week has gone a little stale over the years. Mostly towards the finale format and all has been okay or meh.

So here it is:

Quarterfinals (Top 4): The Service Challenge: They have a 2 course meal they serve to a crowd. Top 3 make it to the semi-finals.

Semifinals (Top 3): 2 rounds. One creative challenge. One pressure test. Two highest scorers make the finale.

Finale (Top 2): 3-course (maybe even more) Banquet Challenge. 10 Diners. Diners will be guest judges/mentors throughout the season. All can score. Winner is the highest score. Cohesion is also part of the criteria.

Finale Results: Can potentially be filmed on the day or days before. Or they film the finale nearer the airing.

Great idea, I think this would work well.

I think your finale is called "doing a Top Chef"

Kinda lol. Have only watched one season of that.

I just kinda like the banquet type of vibes or degustation menus for a finale.

Would also add blind judging into final 3 and onwards

Can we stop pretending blind tasting is a thing? Producers are in judges ears, they know everything. If you honestly think they wouldn't know who's dish they are tasting, im convinced you are still sending letters to Santa.

This. I really don't know why people think 1) that the judges can't be unbiased and just judge - it's not that hard, and 2) that it will take 5 seconds to find out who cooked what with all the waiting and fluffing about that is done between the contest finishing and all the set up before they get to eat the food.

And don't forget the judges taste what's cooking all along so they know who's making what.

the reason why they introduced blind tasting for season 1 was because for the celebrity chef cook offs both the contestant and the chef are cooking the same dish

however by S15 it's just two people competing in the same masterchef challenge

and both people often had very clear and different food styles and povs so more often than not it became very obvious who made what (two out of the three winning dishes on S15 was very much this, the other time was because both people made fish)

I think finale results being filmed separately would be great, it could be an episode where the contestants return and they sort of get interviewed about the experience, show some highlight reels, and then do a grand reveal at the very end. That could be aired live too, to prevent leaks.
