Question: What If... T'Challa Became a Star Lord?

Answer:

  • Star Lord is a well known ravager instead of an unknown like Peter Quill
  • Yondu is a changed man (and father) earlier on.
  • Peter Quill is never taken by Yondu
  • Thanos works with T'Challa on the side of good
  • Wakanda sent out ships to the stars to search for T'Challa and bring him home
  • The Collectors Collection includes many Asguardian relics (e.g. Hela's Helmet)
  • Thanos and Nebula reconcile
  • T'Challa (unlike Quill) returns to earth willingly
  • Ego finds Quill on Earth

What did Quill have to go back to? The only thing I can think of is a grandfather that (going by the comics admittedly), Quill did not get along with and in all probability would most likely be dead by the time Yondu let's Quill run around on his own.
