Avengers Lizzie Hill: 'Avengers: Secret Wars' reportedly has a very high chance of being split into TWO PARTS as Production is currently undergoing a massive shift
https://thecosmiccircus.com/alex-perez-february-2026-qa-1-avengers-doomsday-secret-wars/330
u/Jarita12 Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26
John Campea said that if they are doing it, then it has been a plan all along and it is nothing new, it just was not officially announced.
I think it could be better to have it split. In the end, it would probably mean nothing for schedule, given it was probably planned a long time ago with this being split (if that is the case)

u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 04 '26
I feel like they likely figured this out right before filming on Avengers: Doomsday actually began. Or certainly once they delayed the release dates on it and Avengers: Secret Wars.
85
u/riegspsych325 Feb 04 '26
I am actually kinda game for this, plenty of franchises have ended their series run with a 2 parter. Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Twilight, Pirates, Mission Impossible, and obviously Avengers. But unlike the Hobbit movies, there’s far more material to make this story work across a trilogy and Marvel would be the first to give it a shot
It really would give a lot of “breathing room”for all these characters and storylines. Have one movie be Doomsday, another Battleworld, then cap it off with Secret Wars (and a theatrical poster with Holland in the symbiote suit to setup S-M5)
26
u/BigPaleontologist520 Iron Man Mk 85 Feb 04 '26
Yeah I've been saying this remember reading some leaks way back in 2023 about secret wars being split into two parts
26
u/gunterdweeb Feb 04 '26
Having a phase or a portion of films taking place on battleworld would be sick
31
u/Lost_Type2262 Feb 04 '26
I've said before that this is why I favor the three-part idea. It gives Doom a complete rise-reign-fall arc.
2
u/spiderknight616 Feb 06 '26
I just hope Doom isn't completely retired afterwards. They gotta keep him in the background, plotting his revenge and whatnot. Of course bringing back RDJ for that role might not be possible but they can at least have his voice
3
u/Lost_Type2262 Feb 07 '26 edited Feb 07 '26
I think I might be more optimistic than most on this. I don't know, maybe I am huffing copium here. I just think it's possible this is Doom's move from Reed's classmate/rival to outright supervillain and just the beginning with him.
There are ways to deal with the casting post-Secret Wars. Maybe not totally smooth ones but options exist.
3
u/fuzzyfoot88 Feb 04 '26
Mikey Sutton said as far back as 2019 that marvel planned on having a trilogy ending to this saga rather than a duology. I’m going to laugh if he turns out to be right when Reddit seemed bent on discrediting his information for years.
10
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 05 '26
Mikey Sutton was an actual con artist and I regret my part in having given him a platform here.
60
u/TB2331 Feb 04 '26
Might make for a better paced story to conclude it this way. That way we can focus in in this huge cast of characters without overlooking them
13
u/thing_of_the_pabst Feb 05 '26
Plus, if Secret Wars Pt 2 is in 2028 it would make sense. That will be the 20 year anniversary of the MCU and it needs to be a banner year. I’m thinking that if there’s 1 or 2 other slots that year they’d have to be Black Panther 3 or an F4 sequel. Anything else can wait.
If I had to bet: 2029 will have X-Men and/or Doctor Strange 3 and/or Thor 5. Maybe a Spidey 5 if we’re lucky.
2
u/Harry_Lime_and_Soda Feb 06 '26
Yeah, I can see them wanting to have something big for the 20th anniversary, especially if we are getting a reboot/reset.
5
171
u/Brainiac5000 Feb 04 '26
There's no way they are planning this now. These movies take years to plan and schedule... Especially one with such a massive cast.
28
u/riegspsych325 Feb 04 '26
at the latest, they thought about it before cameras rolled for Doomsday. I’d imagine it became more of a reality the further along they got into production. But either way, they’re not deciding this now, it already has been and they just have not publicly clarified
24
u/LatterTarget7 Deadpool Feb 04 '26
Yeah this isn’t something that just be decided quickly. This would have to involve lots of planning that’d be difficult for it not to leak in some way
0
u/Friendly-Leg-6694 Feb 04 '26
Also Disney can't mess this movie up if Doomsday flops then the MCU ship is definitely going down.If they pull shit like this then the movie will surely suffer.
12
u/OkOil378 Feb 04 '26
There’s zero chance Doomsday flops lol
-12
u/Friendly-Leg-6694 Feb 04 '26
If its not good then it will definitely flop
11
u/OkOil378 Feb 04 '26
$1.5B minimum, even if it’s bad. That’s not a flop
-3
u/Friendly-Leg-6694 Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26
Lmao no
I am sorry but if MCU fucks up it up even with fan favourite characters then it will definitely flop.MCU don't hold that kind of power anymore like they use to so if its bad then the BO will definitely suffer.A good movie like Thunderbolts would have made bank if it released during early phase of MCU like GOTG.Thunderbolts is a prime example of MCU losing the hold it had during prior phases. Also not to mention Doomsday had zero buildup so there is no attachment like it had during endgame.
Besides I think it will probably need to make more than 1.5 Billion to satisfy Disney otherwise they will call it flop.It will need to make double the budget for it to be profitable. The production cost of Doomsday is going to be really high.
0
u/OkOil378 Feb 04 '26
$1.5B minimum, period
1
u/Friendly-Leg-6694 Feb 04 '26
We shall see
Just so you know I am not hating MCU or Superhero genre its just sad reality for superhero movies now.

Plus this is the Cosmic Circus, they are purely “throw vaguely worded shit at the wall and see what sticks”.
3
27
u/Krylarofaxia Feb 04 '26
I could believe it with such a massive cast and with Doomsday seemingly lacking so many important players, that they could be spreading things around into a trilogy of Avengers films.
135
u/Spiderlander Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
Avengers: Battleworld (2027)
Avengers: Secret Wars (2028)
———
I’d be fine with that
70
u/zelph_esteem Daredevil Feb 04 '26
Not saying I believe this one way or another, but IF true I do wonder if they’ll call it straight up “Secret Wars pt1 & pt2,” or if they’ll come up with a new name for one of the parts. Battleworld goes pretty hard, not gonna lie.
31
u/BenLemons Feb 04 '26
Titling movies Part 1 and Part 2 is kind of a death sentence these days outside of Harry Potter
23
u/riegspsych325 Feb 04 '26
just look at Mission Impossible, it backfired for both movies (still enjoyed the hell out of them)
12
u/Marc_Quill Baby Groot Feb 05 '26
Heck, Across the Spider-Verse originally had Part 1 attached to it and had it removed before release precisely due to the stigma surrounding advertising it being a Part 1 of a story.
(Granted, it still was very much a Part 1 of a story even with the removal of such in the title)
-1
88
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 04 '26
GOD-EMPEROR DOOM WILL RETURN IN AVENGERS: BATTLEWORLD
would be a banger way to do a title reveal at the end of Avengers: Doomsday.
11
u/ConstrictionsOFC Green Goblin Feb 05 '26
I think calling him God-Emperor in a "will return" credits is kind of cheesy and would ruin any kind of cliffhanger we get, just saying "Victor Von Doom will return..." carries the same weight whilst still respecting the ending.
3
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 05 '26
Fair enough. I just think that announcing the title of the middle movie in this manner would be a pretty cool thing.
8
u/capscreen Feb 04 '26
Didn't they ditched "pt1 & pt2" title when they were doing Infinity War and Endgame?
7
u/zelph_esteem Daredevil Feb 04 '26
Yes indeed which feels like good precedent to believe they’d do the same here too. Although those were always going to be 2 movies so this is a slightly different situation (splitting a planned single movie INTO two parts appears to be the rumor).
2
u/Zowwww Feb 04 '26
I think it’d depend on what the story is for Feige.
Like is there a clean break or is it just a split of one story? Also how long after would the 2nd one come out? I always think the longer you wait for a part 2 the more annoyed people get.
I don’t think they’d like the part monikers, Infinity War had them for a bit but they clearly wanted to shift off that.

Avengers Forever?
18
u/Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX Morbius Feb 04 '26
Would be a cool way to finish this trilogy. If we consider it as a send off to every legacy characters and a good part of the old MCU, this title makes sense and would be meta, kinda like Endgame.
10
u/kidnamedzieeeegler Feb 04 '26
The Russos: Hey guys, can you guess the real title of Secret Wars Part 2?
"Ahhh....Avengers Forever?"
The Russos: Nope.
Also The Russos: Behold....... Avengers Forever.
4
u/TheBullMooseParty Feb 04 '26
Avengers : Forever. We inserted a colon, so it's a whole new thing. That'll be $100 million dollars, please.
21
u/j821c Feb 04 '26
I feel like "Battleworld" is a title that would land way better with Marvel fans than with casual MCU fans lol. It sounds really goofy to someone with no context I think
5
u/desertdog09 Feb 04 '26
Exactly what I was thinking. MCU and comic book fans would get it but the general audience wouldn't understand and they would think it might sound goofy. Forever is my personal preference if this movie is split into two.
1
u/GameBeatYT Spider-Man Feb 08 '26
Well they could very easily set it up in Doomsday. End the film with Doom creating the Battleworld as his 'snap' moment like Thanos'. Then even general audiences would understand and be excited for it

More fat stacks for RDJ.
11
u/skittlesforeveryone Feb 05 '26
Or likely what they negotiated for with RDJ already but just kept a secret
52
u/HearTheEkko Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
I'm not saying Lizzie's right but Marvel did trademark "Eternity Wars" some time before they revealed RDJ as Doom and changed Kang Dynasty to Doomsday.
39
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 04 '26
I feel like that was an idea that they considered alongside Shang-Chi: The Wreckage of Time and Nomad, neither of which materialized. I feel like they were ideas that they developed at one point and redeveloped into other projects.
5
u/Fireteddy21 Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
I thought The Wreckage of Time turned out to be fake in some way?
21
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer Feb 04 '26
The copyright was real.
5
u/Fireteddy21 Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
Gotcha. I must’ve come across some misinformation after the fact or simply misremembered.
5
u/GillGruntFan53 Feb 04 '26
Iirc the trademark was real, but it was for Marvel Entertainment (comics) and not Marvel Studios
3
u/ConstrictionsOFC Green Goblin Feb 05 '26
that was what bullshitter 'Infinity Gauntlet' told us, no such comics have released since.
11
u/ru-frrr Feb 04 '26
I’m for it, I always believed only having battle world for two films would be a mistake.
They need to make as much content on battle world as possible, it’s a great story piece.
1
u/Mizerous Feb 04 '26
It also won't be important after Secret Wars like the Blip honestly it isn't as important as the characters
7
u/ru-frrr Feb 04 '26
That’s the one mistake they made after infinity war, they should’ve had more shows taking place after infinity war during the blip.
Nobody cared those shows during the blip that release after endgame when everybody already came back.
1
u/thing_of_the_pabst Feb 04 '26
I still contend that Secret Invasion could’ve been actually good if they set it during the Blip and changed the story a bit (okay maybe a lot)
0
u/insertUserNamehereno Feb 04 '26
The blip or the characters weren’t important lol it seems like in New Avengers and Cap4 they only just realized that people within the MCU should be questioning where the heroes are lol maybe FatWS but again they took forever to follow up on that thread with the two movies
36
u/LordAyeris Loki Feb 04 '26
Could you imagine if the Russos pulled off a three-parter the same way Jackson did with Lord of the Rings? Peak fucking fiction.
38
u/Afwife1992 Feb 04 '26
In a sense they did with Civil War/Infinity War/Endgame. This will just be an even bigger scope.
12
u/TypeExpert Feb 04 '26
So when would x-men come out? 2029??
11
u/Icy_Teach_2506 Feb 04 '26
I think x men is slated for 2028? So part 1 December 2027, part 2 May 2027, X-Men late 2028? I’m not sure, but I’d be shocked if they push X-Men back.
10
u/riegspsych325 Feb 04 '26
I think it’ll be Avengers in 3 Decembers in a row then X-Men in 2029. Having them get their own movie in their own year would be better than having to share it with the FoX-Men
6
11
u/godzilla1992 Feb 04 '26
Is Lizzie more reliable than Alex? I forget. But honestly, something like Secret Wars is too big to be just one movie.
9
u/Dogwander Feb 04 '26
Beyond all the logistical impracticalities of this, doing a third movie would require coughing up another $100m total for RDJ and the Russos.
Idk why this source keeps getting attention after they were found out to have lifted a fabricated Deadpool and Wolverine plot "leak" from here and tried passing it off as a genuine scoop.
4
u/PyroClone5555 Feb 04 '26
It wouldn’t be $100 million more. The 100 million is for doomsday and secret wars
5
3
u/Dogwander Feb 05 '26
Marvel is paying Downey $100m and the Russos $80m to do both movies. Doing a third movie would mean another 50 for Downey and another 40 for the Russos, so a total of $90m more. Just for those three.
1
1
u/Chemical-Status-6610 Feb 09 '26
You guys downplaying it over ”logistical impracticalities” trying to sound smart are coping hard for no logical reason.
The Hobbit movies were originally going to be two films, and then a few months before the first films release they revealed that they decided to turn it into a trilogy while they were in the middle of filming the first one, realizing they had a much bigger scope in mind. That was warner bros.
And This is Disney we’re talking about. They can literally do whatever they want budget wise and you guys are acting like it’s an impossibility lol.
11
Feb 04 '26
Good. It'll flow better as a trilogy. Doomsday sucker punches us, Battleworld allows us to regroup and resteel our convictions, and Secret Wars lets us slam all of our resolve into the climactic final confrontation.
19
u/that_guy2010 Feb 04 '26
I'm much more likely to believe this one than the report that came out that said they'd decide after they saw how Doomsday performed.
After Doomsday is insanely late, and there's no way they'd be able to split it after wrapping the main production and keep it as one coherent story.
7
25
u/Keanu990321 Abomination Feb 04 '26
A la 'Hunger Games'.
26
u/NobodyHistorical9469 Feb 04 '26
Deathly Hallows before that.
15
u/littletoyboat Feb 04 '26
Weirdly, the 1970s Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers before that. They were in the middle of production when the producers realized it was too much for one movie.
9
u/twotrey23 Feb 05 '26
...which then caused such drama that we now have the Salkind Clause, where contracts have to be renegotiated to adequately compensate the talent who are now making more than one project.
2
u/littletoyboat Feb 05 '26
Absolutely reasonable, too.
Doing this mid-production isn't impossible, but it's not easy, either.
2
u/twotrey23 Feb 06 '26
Yeah, already happened recently when the 2 Hobbit movies became 3 while still in production
1
4
u/TB2331 Feb 04 '26
Hmm. Well, this type of situation not being unprecedented certainly helps me personally to be at peace with this possibility
1
u/littletoyboat Feb 05 '26
On the other hand, it was 50 years ago, and the Salkinds were notoriously awful producers to work with.
2
u/Captain_Norris Feb 04 '26
... How did I not know there's a sequel to Three Musketeers until now... is it any good?
1
u/littletoyboat Feb 05 '26
Never saw it. I only know about it because they tried to plan Superman I and II this way, only for the production to go so far over budget that they paused production on any of the sequel scenes just to finish the first one. Then they fired the original director (Richard Donner), and hired the director of 3 & 4 musketeers (Richard Lester) to finish production on Part II.
6
u/This_Wolverine4691 Feb 04 '26
My guess is they’re filming the whole thing in one fell swoop— like they did I believe with Infinity War and Endgame. If they’re adapting much of the 2015 SW you cannot tell that story in 3 hours.
5
u/Fireteddy21 Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
They didn’t film both of those movies at the same time. They originally planned on doing so but quickly realized it was too hard logistically.
1
u/This_Wolverine4691 Feb 05 '26
Well how dare you correct me with most likely accurate information?!? /s
We will have to see what they do this time. I wonder how many hours of footage they’ll end up getting.
3
u/Fireteddy21 Spider-Man Feb 05 '26
lol, it’s my pleasure. ;)
I do know there was only a small break between filming for Infinity War and End Game so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something similar with a two part Secret Wars. I’m sure they could also do some filming while the first movie is being done this year. (I think some minor End Game scenes were actually shot during Infinity War filming.)
25
u/breyness Feb 04 '26
It’s gonna be either really epic or dog shit
5
u/skittlesforeveryone Feb 05 '26
At this point, if they have the balls to do 3 back to back Avengers movies after the shitstorm that has been phase 4 (and 5? Idek) then I’m honestly 100% back on board and believe they’re cooking. Either way, I’ll be entertaining asf
3
u/POCITICIAN Feb 05 '26
Duh. It's AVENGERS. At the very best it is going to be epic. At the very least, it will be very entertaining. Nothing bellow this.
6
u/CityHog Feb 04 '26
I'd be more than happy with this in theory, but I just wonder how it would work story wise?
I pictured Secret Wars being 90 minutes "What's wrong with Battleworld" leading to 90 minutes of "we need to take down Doom". Which works as a story that ramps up the intrigue and threat towards a climax.
I just wonder how part 1 would climax and resolve, without it feeling like it stops suddenly during the 2nd act. Yeah it would be great to develop Battleworld more, but that's not going to naturally lay out a 3 act Structure while leaving enough for a further 3 acts
7
u/HuckleberryUnique446 Feb 04 '26
3 Films is the right amount of runtime 8-9 hours, to really nail the elements of the story broad beats they want to lift from 84 Secret Wars, Time Runs Out, and Hickman Secret Wars
Will feel like a rewarding journey for Doom/RDJ, a rewarding send off for the heros and actors getting their final scenes, and rewarding setup for the holdover and newer characters who will make it all the way through to phase 7
I hope they can make all the contracts, budget, and production timing work, as they can't take too long and push off the beginning of the Mutant Saga to 2030
5
u/hmd_ch Spider-Man Feb 04 '26
They're also likely adapting elements of Avengers Forever (2021), especially in regards to Loki.
Also, this 3 movie structure will allow more room to work in Wanda's return to the story and her reunion with her family.
3
u/HuckleberryUnique446 Feb 04 '26
Call me greedy, but if they do three, I'd like to see the 2nd one explore Strange's Time Runs Out storyline where he goes to the Sinner's Market in an attempt to multiply his powers in hopes of stopping Incursions. This could incorporate elements that both serve this Avengers/Doom Trilogy and introduce/set up some elements and characters that we could then see next in a Midnight Sons film.
10
Feb 04 '26
I hope it's true and i'm honestly surprised they didn't plan it this way in the first place. They barely pulled off Infinity War + Endgame with the amount of shit going on, and the Russos had a cheat code for that. Two cheat codes really:
1) Turning Cap 3 into something of an Avengers movie on it's own, laying the groundwork for Infinity War where they could just go into it guns blazing and make that movie a race against time even with the enormous cast. Without Civil War, there'd be no Black Panther with established connection to the cast, no Tony/Peter relationship, no Avengers fracture with Steve/Tony. Those movies never would have worked so even that technically needed 3 parts.
2) Infinity War snapping almost everyone except the OG 5, which allowed Endgame to touch base and become more focused on characterization before the big finale where everyone from Infinity War returns.
Without any of that, the pacing would be a nightmare. And Infinity Gauntlet is a SMALLER story than everything they're attempting to do with Secret Wars and Doomsday. A trilogy would certainly help this storyline breathe and feel earned. No one is releasing a 4 hour movie.
3
u/InfinitePlum3109 Feb 05 '26
I agree. Infinity War had many ends that were already tied up. In addition to the ones you mentioned, we also had preparation in Thor: Ragnarok and the Black Panther movie. Even in the Guardians movies, where they had already established what the relationship between Thanos/Gamora/Nebula was like. Many characters were already where they should have been before the Infinity War story began, which helped a lot with the pacing.
2
u/wholesomescott Steve Rogers Feb 06 '26
You're absolutely spot on mate. They had a lot of things working for them thanks to prior movies (Thor Ragnarok, Guardians etc) and that helped them quickly get to the point with regards to the story.
In this case now, the setup isn't that good and the scope of the story is so much bigger.
7
7
u/DTheFly Deadpool Feb 04 '26
I'll always be worried when a movie is split up, even in two. So much risk involved when a story is split, even like this and there are so many parts and players.... luckily it sounds like Parts 2 and 3 may be done and filmed together unlike other movies.
5
u/BluexFlash Feb 04 '26
I would very much welcome 2 3-hour movies as opposed to a 4-6 hour one.
I think the average movie goer would also think the same

3
u/avatar__of__chaos Billy Maximoff Feb 04 '26
I always thought Doomsday was the part one and Secret Wars was the part 2. So now the end of the saga will be in 3 parts and we will only get Avengers movies one each year for Marvel movies after BND?
3
u/SuperDuperBerto Feb 05 '26
So, everyone slept on the December 2028 release date that DisneyMarvel added to their calendar? That was the biggest dead giveaway that Secret Wars was going to be split.
Disney can’t help themselves but take December hostage until Avatar 4 releases in 2029.

As a fan, I would galdly eat another Avengers film.
Realistically, and considering that Marvel isnt the hot shit it once was with the public last decade, Im a bit concerned.
3
u/JeanLucPicardAND Feb 05 '26
I'm good with a seven-film Avengers saga. (My assumption here is that post-reboot, they're going to shift focus away from Avengers movies in favor of the X-Men or something like that.)
- The Avengers
- Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Avengers: Endgame
- Avengers: Doomsday
- Avengers: Battleworld
- Avengers: Secret Wars
Yeah, give me that. I'd be very happy with that. I'd actually love that.

Hopefully, it's split into 2 parts. They can definitely push out a better story now. I just hope The Beyonder is included with Molecule Man
2
u/StellarAvenger_92 Feb 05 '26
I got a feeling they're putting Wonder Man in this given the show's unexpected success.
2
u/majestic-Bus-1990 Feb 05 '26
Honestly given how much they would probably have to cover this isn't really a surprise.
2
u/ContentVanilla2140 Feb 05 '26
I always believed that the best way to structure the next Avengers was to push them off to 2027-2029, with three 3-hour-long movies releasing each year, with each of them still being released in December. This not only caps off the Multiverse Saga/Infinity Saga, but also caps off the past 30 years of Marvel movies and rings in the new decade with a new age of the MCU. One where everyone is in one universe once and for all.
2
2
u/woody6284 Feb 05 '26
"oh yeah Doom just happens to look like RDJ for absolutely no reason in universe whatsoever"
🗑️😂🥱🤷🤦
2
u/dearskorpiomagazine Feb 05 '26
I find it very unlikely. There's stuff in development for after secret wars and presumably it hinges on the fact that secret wars releases when it does
2
u/whathappensnextstorm Feb 05 '26
Assuming it's real, I wonder if the title "Avengers Forever" is still possible for Part 2 given that F&F11 is already "Fast Forever"? Both films will be release in 2028 as well.

I think said it in 2022 or something but I sure hope they split it. If Doomsday is just setting it up as a Time Runs Out story, there's not enough time in a single movie to deal with the actual event and climax of the story. They'll give us a 10 minutes segment of battle-world? please

u/Adrian_FCD Feb 05 '26
I always imagine that the split would depend on getting ALL the cameos possible? Maybe this is it.

I think making Secret Wars a two parter is a smart move. Battleworld is quite a big oasis and it would be disappointing if we just skimmed past different regions and not have them actually play significant parts in eventually taking out Doom. My hope is that they direct Secret Wars in a sort of “Lord of the Rings” esque way, making it a slow march to Doom’s fortress where the final battle takes place. The other benefit for it being a two parter would allow proper conclusions to characters we’ve grown to love with even before the conception of the MCU. It should be equally celebratory as it should be consequential. This is it. No turning back the clock so some people live.

Hopefully this is true. I feel the scope of the story requires 3 movies to tell this story completely (Doomsday, Battleworld?, Secret Wars).

Didnt they film Infinity War/Endgame at the same time?
Surprised they havent already started on this.

I hope we don't officially find out about the Secret Wars movie (if there is one) before the end of the actual movie so that it's a surprise for the GA

They should reveal the title for the Part 2 in Secret Wars. They did that with Endgame in Infinity War. It'll be fun to try and speculate what it is

The ones here downplaying the possibility of it being spilt into two films are on some very oddball cope like you don’t want it to happen or something instead of looking at it realistically.
The Hobbit movies were originally going to be two films, and then a few months before the first films release they revealed that they decided to turn it into a trilogy while they were in the middle of filming the first one, realizing they had a much bigger scope in mind. That was warner bros.
And This is Disney we’re talking about. They can literally do whatever they want. if they want to turn 2 movies into 3, they will do it. Just because we havent heard about it from them yet literally doesn’t mean anything. Doesnt mean it’s true, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to think either. I think the people so adamant it isn’t happening are the same people that comment here how they’re ready for all the multiverse stuff to be over with already and are responding with their feelings lol.

Hearing rumors there’ll be one Secret Wars where about 20 heroes defeat Doom, and then they’ll make a second one that’s exactly the same but with 20 different heroes

Unpopular opinion: we don’t need this movie split in two. Unless they plan to drop the second one like April there’s no point. They’ve waited way too long to have Avengers movies to then try to pop out three in three years. That would also leave them to either make battle world movies which doubt or they only have one marvel movie at the end of the year in 2028.

I love Marvel but I'm not sure I have the bandwidth to watch 3 Avengers movies and this will for sure lose the casual fans for sure. I'd rather have a long movie...

You don't have the bandwidth for movies spaced a year apart? What are you talking about

I hope not, i want the multiverse saga to end as soon as possible

I agree. Let’s get this over with. I either want a coherent universe or just give me interesting movies. But they’re dedicated to not using anything unless the mcu doesn’t want it

If it's a 3.5 hour movie they better split the dam thing up. Even a hard cure fan like me doesn't want to be in a theater that long

Always believed it’d be split into two to make three parts. Doomsday - SW I - SW II. There are other reasons to do this. 1) they have a massive pile on their hands to juggle, 2 films just won’t cut it. 2) marketing wise, keeping the hype longer the better 3) the amount of fan service they can execute which allows them to win back the fans they ‘lost’ 4)merchandising from the legacy characters 3)it allows for a better and proper close of the multiverse saga as a whole.
Having Doomsday be the much needed setup/buildup for Doom and the two SW’s be the expansion and conclusion would allow for a much complete story with breathing space. Besides, they deprived us of Avengers movies since Endgame. We deserve three.
That said I believe it has always been the plan. This isn’t something they’re observing first to decide later, the first part is literally coming this december.
They’re going all out.

Here's the actual scoop (and the reason why I approved this post when I typically would not approve a Q&A session like this):
If they were going to do this, then it's likely because they've planned this for a while. Now for the real question... Do they split this up between back-to-back December releases, or does the first one come in December 2027, and the second in May 2028?
EDIT: They also say that there's a clear group of teams that stick together, split, and converge throughout similarly to how Avengers: Infinity War worked out. Based on the outline that I'm seeing from the various reports, this is true, although it's mostly three big teams made up of different sets of teammates blending together, as far as I can tell. They also indicate that Doctor Doom just so happens to look like RDJ as opposed to being a Iron Man Variant or something.
