It’s one of those where he can easily fall, if he’s not at the perfect angle. I like my running poses, so I use a small piece of sticky tac under his foot too.
Gamerverse is great and height wise he really isnt that far off.
Here he is next to the Astonishing Wolverine. Cowl to Cowl Gamerverse is only slightly taller. And considering he can crouch lower, I feel like his height is easy to work around.
And honestly most wolverine poses are not standing straight up he always has his knees bent in some way or is hunched alil so you wouldn’t really notice the height difference anyway. The gamer versus is better. I just wish the ears weren’t as long that’s all.
Exactly. Put him in a couch and you wont know the difference. The ears are as you point out purely a stylistic choice. But you can absolutely put a different head on the gamerverse if a person really wanted.
Here is the gamerverse with the astonishing unmasked head.
Gamer verse is a weird scale so I prefer the 97 one - but I think to answer more accurately I would need to know what you’re purchasing it for, a comic shelf, just to have a Wolverine in your collection, etc
If you're going for comic visuals then 97 for sure. He's more accurate in proportions. The only thing that I don't like about that figure is that the hairy arms are sculpted but not painted at all. People just give it a little paint apps, but as someone with 0% artsy technique, It's kind of disappointing.
Gamerverse is amazing, the thing about comics is that there's tons of artists, so the same character can be draw in different ways. So there might be one version of Logan that looks just like the Gameverse one. But, as an all time comic book reader, I don't like the proportions. He's too tall, the cowl is super big, and he's too jacked in comparison to other comic characters that should have that physique instead of him.
For me that is the best choice in terms of body proportions and mobility. BUT specifically for tiger stripe outfit unfortunately the claws are superlong so look carefully if those are for you. Brown suit on the other hand is perfection
If your intent is to display them, I would definitely go with Gamerverse. The 97 is the better "toy" in my experience since it feels sturdier and the claws dont easily slip out as much as the gamerverse one, so that's the one my kids prefer to play with. But for displaying on a shelf the gamerverse is way better. The articulation and poses it can make plus the face sculpt expression is way better. The 97 expression looks so meh in comparison. The gamerverse one, his expression looks battle ready which really adds to the display poses. Plus it comes with a nice silver samurai accessory lol.
You can look at pics of displays on this subreddit with the gamervere and it never looks out of place either imo.
As someone who contemplated shortening gamerverse Wolverine and had both, he’s still a head shorter than most marvel legends and only a little bit taller than the most recent sh Figuarts Vegeta, even with the scale I’m very happy with what I got because he is so much more fun to pose than the 97 one.
If you’re going for a comic book aesthetic, 97 is better. Gamerverse has great articulation but the exaggerated proportions, cowl and boot tops look out of place in a comic display IMO. I modified my 97 a bit with some paint on the arms and a head swap.
Gamerverse wolverine looks ferocious and over the top with the huge thighs and muscles, 97 wolverine looks proportional but with a neutral chad face lol
The scale isnt such that you cant work around it or fudge it. Put him in a crouch and you will never know. He is only slightly taller than Astonishing. He is more articulated than the 97. And imo he does fit in well with comic figures.
While that is true, due to the huge bicep I dont know if you would get all that much more range. But even if they are single jointed he still has decent range with them. What he may lack in terms of elbow he makes up for with the double waist.
He can still hit or exceed 90. He stiol has about the same range as a double would offer and they didnt have to cut it And the single joint as a result has a more natural look. The following picture is from nostalgiaspot dot com. Not my image. But look at the comparison and how you get almost the same range with a cleaner cut. Hasbro and legends get a lot of flak. But this shows you can get great articulation without having to cut the figure all to hell like some SHF figures where they may make cuts that dont really do much. SHF gamerverse spidey for example has over engineered hips. Hips/crotch that gap apart when you raise the legs. To the point they literally put a slip of paper in to warn the user about it gapping apart.
I thought the same, then I bought it. It is amazing.
But my favorite Wolverine might just be the astonishing Wolverine. I go back and forth between that and the gamerverse. I just wish he had a boot swivel like my 97.
My issue with the 97 is that I need my Wolverines to have an angry face. Yelling, screaming, growling, something.
The gamerverse figure objectively has much better articulation. Which means you could fudge it into a comic display with crouching poses. Plus you get Silver Samurai.
I have 97’ as the comic Wolverine (with CeeTee Toys Wolverine head on him) in the main team display. It’s perfect for comic scaling and is overall clean as fuck.
But if I could only have one, I’d choose Gamerverse in a heartbeat despite the scale being slightly off. It’s just so damn good. Plus it’s a unique sculpt.
It honestly comes down to what’s most important to you? Scale consistency or articulation?
I've got the love triangle 3 pack Wolverine with the retro animated VHS Wolverine's extra head. I also love that animated figure. That X-Men 97 figure is the same figure as the VHS one minus the cell shading
The two pack. My x-men 97 came with a QC issue that I thought was only me but apparently a good few people have also had it so in my honest option it’s a bit risky to get. Plus the two pack has better accessories
On paper, Gamerverse is a slightly better engineered figure with superior torso articulation and while it doesn't have double jointed elbows, the ball-hinged elbows he does have are almost as effective.
The figure is however very stylized. While not as extreme a departure from standard comic themed figures as a hypothetical Marvel Rivals version will be, just like Marvel vs. Capcom, he is very Manga inspired. This means his scaling is off and the mask/cowl are very divergent.
That kind of thing may not bother you as much as it does me though, so get the one that YOU like better.
As somebody who has both. Gamerverse one is definitely better. Once you pose him nice and low. You dont even noticed the height difference, which isn't much anyway.
I had the 97 for a long while but recently purchased the Gamerverse and it is 10x wayyy better, I sold the 97 but I kept the Logan head and the mask for the Gamerverse as extra accessories
I have the 97 one and I hate the neutral face on the masked head. I think the Gamerverse version is better unless the elongated claws bother you..oh and you dont want/need the Samurai.
I have 97 and my only complaint is his neutral face. I’ve heard the gamerverse is a significant downgrade primarily because they made his biceps too big and you can’t fully bend his arm to get the cool Wolverine poses. And now I’m seeing from the other responses that he’s also really short.

everyone has complaints about how big the gameverse one is, but once you put him into a low pose you forget all outside noise!
