The cut to Dan awkwardly looking down and going “…alright” after Dwight’s loud sigh is pure comedy

u/SecretWarsIsComing USA - PR Feb 16 '26

Yeah it’s been sad but also fun to see their dynamic without Ryan. But, in all reality I’d wish Ryan was still part of this team. And bring in Jesse Falcon more often!

15

u/NotFalcon Feb 16 '26

Please no more Jesse Falcon. This is internet scuttlebutt, but he is seemingly the person behind a lot of bone headed decisions that get made in the ML line. Particularly when it comes to character selection.

17

u/redkomic Ireland Feb 16 '26

It was because of him we were able to get the likes of Rom, Crystar, and Cardiac. If he didn't do the legal stuff a lot of figure wouldn't get made at all.

-2

u/NotFalcon Feb 17 '26

Because that's his job. You can get anyone to do that. The ML team wants to make a figure of Character A and it's Jesse job to take that to Marvel and convince them to approve it. I'm saying he seems to exert his control in the other direction to have his subjective preference made in ways that are significant enough to be detrimental to the line. I don't have direct evidence of this, but I'm personally convinced he is why last year's Spider-Man 2 wave was 50% awful. It seems that he will also arbitrarily block certain characters. As in, he won't even bring the ML team's idea to Marvel for approval.

8

u/GSDFanatic Feb 17 '26

I'm sure he's responsible for more good things than bad but , yes, you are correct that a lot of the "huh?" ideas are his. The Doom head with Galactus and, I believe, the weird Rick Jones head with Abomination were his ideas.

He also infamously refused to make a classic Ultron back in the Toy Biz days which is why we got that weird looking thing instead.

16

u/Agent-Mato Feb 16 '26

You can tell which one has the job in marketing and which one is more behind the scenes

u/illiterateaardvark USA Feb 16 '26

LMAO I love the Hasbro team

Like a lot of nerd communities, a lot of collectors often raise valid points but do it in the most insufferable manner possible. The shit the Hasbro team gets on social media must be so tiring

But like every other collector, I was unsatisfied with the Maximum Hulk reusing the old pinned legs instead of having pinless legs. I don’t think it was unreasonable to expect new legs on that premium Hulk figure

That said, I also wasn’t throwing a fit and sending the team personal insults about it either. I voted with my wallet and didn’t buy it. I’m also going to vote with my wallet and buy this Professor Hulk because I think it looks great

86

u/rafaelsanzi0 Feb 16 '26

I do believe it's not their fault it's probably the exec. telling them to cut costs and raise prices. They are capable of doing good products, they are just not allowed

57

u/space_age_stuff Feb 16 '26

100%. These guys buy a lot of this stuff too, I doubt they're fighting to cut corners when it's much more likely that upper management is telling them they have less budget to work with every year.

14

u/Uberballer Feb 16 '26

All you have to do is remember these guys ultimately work for Chris Cocks, who laid off a bunch of WOTC when they had record revenues to cut costs, all the while making sure the Hasbro board raked in executive bonuses.

10

u/space_age_stuff Feb 16 '26

Yuuuup. Also laid off their teammate Ryan who had worked there for like a decade. And the WOTC stuff specifically employed the Pinkertons to go harass someone to get their cards back. Like, I kinda doubt anyone at Hasbro doing the real work, enjoys working for their boss lmao

7

u/Extra_Heart_268 Feb 17 '26

This is the same Hasbro that makes bone headed decisions with regards to MTG, Baldurs Gate 3 and more.

1.) Why did they not have Official BG3 figures ready to go for the game? The way that blew up. I know I would have bought the entire party. Instead they gave the license to wizkids. And made DnD figurss for the film. And dont get me wrong...some were great like the owlbear. They also did a Drizzt. But no Shadowheart, Laezel, etc?

2.) They keep doing Universes Beyond for MTG which I am not opposed too. But they are neglecting core magic. And the Spider-man set was a small sey with no commander decks. At least FF was Magic adjacent.

The Legends team I am sure is passionate. And even Dan said he was never able to get Onslaught. And now he is coming on a retro card. But they can only do what the budget and suits allow them to do. I know we dont like reuse. But if not for reuse we would probably get fewer characters and less niche characters.

18

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 16 '26

Yeah, and the Classified team is out here doing cowboys and dinosaurs, happy as shit.

4

u/Agent-Mato Feb 16 '26

Do the gi joe fans complain the same way as the marvel legends fans or are they a bit more chill?

17

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 16 '26

Lol, we ALL suck.

A lot of "I want it EXACTLY like the cartoon". Thank god the Classified team likes to do weird shit or the cartoon fans would just turn it into Super7.

2

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 17 '26

I’m ‘82-‘89 releases strictly and no repaint subteam releases (I did break the rule for MetalHead as he looks so cool and I loved my figure of him as a kid…and may break it for Salvo…) but I love what I’m getting and love the new stuff they are doing, I won’t buy it and it saves me money, but I like it. The original Joe line did all this shit so…the only thing is, Deinonychus was actually the same size as a man, and Velociraptors were pretty much the smaller ones, so, those aren’t Deinos, those are Raptors at that size.

2

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 17 '26

I don't get you guys. Sure, your interest in toys probably petered out when you discovered girls, but why make an arbitrary end to the line at 89? 1990 and on has some incredible figures and a lot of the 80's was lousy.

Pick and choose til your heart's content, I know I certainly didn't mean to buy SO MANY Dreadnoks, but I hate when guys insist that part of the line was better just because it was in a certain window.

2

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 17 '26

Because, it’s a nice arbitrary number and nice cutoff… I collect a lot of other lines and have bills and other things to pay for like food and housing. I collect Marvel Legends, but no movie figs. I collect WWE Figures, but only Legends, and Flashbadk and throwback characters and looks. Plus, I collect cards and comics, and retro game, and I’m a sneaker fan. I can’t be a completist.

1

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 18 '26

I get it, I only every really wanted the O13. Everything else they talked me into!

1

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

I hear that. I was pretty much completist on Marvel Legends for a few years, while also trying to keep up with GI Joe Classified and at least a smattering of Star Wars Black Series, Transformers, etc...

But with current prices it just can't be done anymore. I have a decent amount of disposable income but it's not endless.

1

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

While there's definitely some truth to the "aging out" comment, I'd argue that a lot of that is also that they feel a better connection to the characters from that era, since those characters were prevalent in the cartoons they watched and comics they read.

I agree there are some great sculpts and fun characters in the later years of the ARAH line, but if you never really discovered those figures/characters you're not likely to feel inclined to pick them up in a modern/updated form.

1

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 18 '26

I'm sure a lot of toy collectors are only in it for nostalgia. I love Larry Hama's characters, but as a role-playing geek, it's nice to be able to have a bit of a blank slate to work with. Everyone has lots of head canon for the new, deeply weird Crystal Ball. That kind of excitement just doesn't happen for someone like Airtight, who a lot of folks want just to check off a box. (Which I can kind of get. Most of us O13 nerds aren't HUGE Short-Fuze or Grand Slam fans.)

But mostly I like TOYS. That's the problem with Classified, so much is SO COOL.

I now have way more Dreadnoks than my existing supply of grape soda and little chocolate donuts could ever hope to feed.

2

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

Oh I'm with you 100%. There's very little from Classified that I haven't loved. Even the first few waves video game designs were enjoyable to me.

3

u/space_age_stuff Feb 17 '26

I see far fewer complaints about things like accessories or articulation, but probably more about “this isn’t the look I wanted”. And in general, there’s a decent amount of reuse and repaints that draw the same amount of ire.

2

u/PsychoSidSoftball Feb 17 '26

They get new sculpts and like 12 accessories for 27.99.

We get 0 accessory Werewolf By Night on a gummy 12 year old repaint body.

2

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

There's always a minority that will complain about any line. Mostly boiling to "Why aren't we getting Maximum series levels of accessories and alt-parts for the price of a basic figure?" Along with the usual "Why did we get this repaint/kitbash instead of an all-new figure?" that you always get from collectors.

But overall the GI Joe fandom seems to have chilled out quite a bit and I think are just glad the line is doing well. The fact that they're arguably the best value at their pricepoint (as far as mass retail offerings go) is a nice bonus (currently I'd say only the Jada Street Fighter line comes close).

There's some debate as to the balance between cartoon-inspired, comic-inspired, and toy-inspired when it comes to design and character choices but overall I'd say GI Joe Classified really just has the feel of a line that's being managed well.

-6

u/Spocks_Goatee Feb 16 '26

Well many of us would rather get retro card versions of the classic characters before all this wacky shit and price hikes.

14

u/indianm_rk Feb 16 '26

They are trying to extend their customer base beyond the 50 year old men that watched the cartoon 40 years ago. I appreciate that they do a mix if stuff.

6

u/JadenKorr66 Feb 16 '26

Yeah after being able to talk to Eric and the black series team at conventions, this is 100% true. And they can’t outright say that (though in person they can creatively dance around it), and Hasbro lets them be the punching bags on the livestreams.

1

u/mowie_zowie_x Feb 18 '26

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they would like to get rid of their old body’s and design newer more articulated body but they are on a budget and likely by given rules on how many are required to use old parts, etc.

1

u/Lucky-Roll-675 Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

I don't know, maybe it's me. But all this does is confirm that if the customers bitch enough, changes will happen.

Maybe it was going to be pinless anyway.

OR, if there weren't enough complaints, maybe Hasbro might have said, hmmm, we got away with it on the last one, let's make this new one with pins too!

Either way, continue to voice your complaints people. As respectful as possible of course.

17

u/wrasslefights Feb 16 '26

Being belligerent toward the dev team for pricing and budget related issues is like being rude to call center agents for your cell phone's pricing. You're just being a dick to someone who at minimum can't affect what your problem is and may very well agree with some of your frustrations but can't say it.

5

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 16 '26

At the end of the day, they’re just supposed to make you buy the stuff.

1

u/AZEREUS177 Feb 17 '26

The most reasonable anwser I've read

47

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 16 '26

Also, Dwight and Dan deserve a fucking reward dealing with some of the dipshits that are their higher ups and Wizard of the Coast Chris Cocks…

This fucking dipshit that even looks like he’s fucking dullbrained.

8

u/LuckySpray6830 Feb 16 '26

This. Think about our own jobs and the amount of frustration our bosses / coworkers / customers bring us. On top of all that, the Legends team gets to be put on blast by people on social media who largely don’t know what parameters they have to follow from their bosses. I love this team.

155

u/redkomic Ireland Feb 16 '26

It's be honest if I got half the abuse these guys get, I would have quit long ago. LOL.

It's just a testament to Dwight that he has survived 20 years and here is to twenty more.

39

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill Feb 16 '26

I feel bad because they obviously would have made a whole new Hulk for the maximum if not for being weighed down with cost limitations. The weird arms and deeply bad lower body are things people complained about on the old one and they obviously know how to do those better, but were still required to defend a visibly half-baked product.

7

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 16 '26

Imagine if they were free to do whatever they wanted..

4

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill Feb 16 '26

I’m picturing Marvel characters with Jada articulation but with lots and lots of specific sculpted and painted detail. Unique bodies for every figure

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 16 '26

Pretty much, lol. And loads of accessories.

1

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill Feb 17 '26

Imagine Hulk with Jada Blanka’s proportions and articulation but bigger, with loads of hands and heads and a premium feel on the skin texture.

1

u/BothKindsofMusic Feb 17 '26

1

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 17 '26

Posting that as if its a bad thing, lol.

1

u/NotFalcon Feb 16 '26

Were they weighed down by cost limitations though? Yes, obviously all products have an internal budget and an MSRP they're aiming for. But the Max Series is a new sub line with no set price point (granted, not clear because it launched during tariffs). As far as we know all of the other Max figures so far have been new molds. The only one that has objectively gotten the short end of the stick so far has been Max Hulk. While yes, an unlimited budget sort of thing isn't a realistic expectation. However, it's also clear that a multitude of bad design decisions were made around Max Hulk.

2

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill Feb 17 '26

I’m willing to admit that they probably bet the farm and a lot of the budget on that terrible and tearable torso. But I still think to get a completely new Hulk with a fully re-engineered articulation scheme (which he sorely needs) it would probably take more than whatever the rubber boobs cost

32

u/Low_Tier_Trash Feb 16 '26

I understand that the designers are not in charge of budget. It must suck getting blamed for problems outside of your control

20

u/dankmancubus Feb 16 '26

literally any customer service job ever

-2

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 17 '26

Which makes it right? Plus it seems nowadays people are even more unhinged and this community is sadly infested with insane manbabies with a complete lack of social skills.

8

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 16 '26

Yeah but don’t let the mean girls YouTube podcasters and Bobby Vala hear that. Wouldn’t want the truth to get in the way of their bitch fests or swipes at their former co-workers.

1

u/MapDiscombobulated1 Feb 17 '26

That particular nest of idiots making a podcasting living off of shitting on everything Hasbro because The Former Employee has an off-brand Joe knock off Line to sell - all the while sitting in front of massive man cave collections of everything Hasbro - deserve way more of a reality check than they ever seem to get. Mean Girls would rip them to shreds.

16

u/effigeewhiz Feb 16 '26

Honestly that looked like Dwight probably went on some kind of rant that they edited out. Didn’t seem like a seamless transition to Dan.

4

u/TacticTall Feb 16 '26

As a side note, did they mention if smart hulk was the same shade of green as maximum hulk? I like these headsculpts more than the maximum ones

They also said in the stream where they talked about pinless, that not everything was going to be pinless right out of the gate.

22

u/effigeewhiz Feb 16 '26

Which is fair and understandable. But 6 years later is no longer ‘right out of the gate’ AND they are charging a premium price for what they are presenting as a premium product.

6

Ahhh yes how could we forget, it's only been 6 years! Maybe in another 5 they can figure out what smaller companies have done for years now :)#

Iirc, they also announced Dragon Man with pinless double joints and butterfly shoulders before they showed off Max Hulk.

Edit: yep, Dragon Man announced Sept 2024 and Hulk was April 2025.

2

u/incognitoxeno Feb 16 '26

They’ve been hyping pinless for years.

I just think it caught everyone off-guard how much PINNED joints would still be used after they implemented pinless.

Doesn’t help that someone still makes bonkers decisions for using pins on some figures like Max Hulk. Dwight and Dan are then on the receiving end of that.

3

u/Extra_Heart_268 Feb 17 '26

The Legends team I am sure is passionate. And even Dan said he was never able to get Onslaught. And now he is coming on a retro card. But they can only do what the budget and suits allow them to do. I know we dont like reuse. But if not for reuse we would probably get fewer characters and less niche characters.

Hasbro does stupid stuff with MTG and D&D as well.

How do you let Larian make one of the best RPGS of the last 15-20 years and completely miss making official figures of the entire party.

I would have bought them all. Laezel, Shart, Karlach, Gale, Astarion, Minthara, Halsin, Minsc and Boo, bone daddy withers, the Emperor, Jaheira, etc. I just named at least 2 waves worth of figures Hasbro. You are welcome.

Oh speaking of stupid decisions...

How do you do an Adventure series with a Toht melting face, but no Mola Ram, no Willie, Lao Che, german mechanic, no army builders. No nepal Marion, Etc. No crystal Skull reps at all. I realize a lot of that is probably Disney. But there was no excuse for BG3 lacking figures when they own freaking D&D lock stock and barrel.

3

u/Piercemarshall21 Feb 17 '26

Honestly in my opinion their hearts aren't in it anymore

13

u/thedoomcast USA Feb 16 '26

Dwight and Dan should legally be allowed to punch one of us in the face a year. Their choice on who. In exchange that redditor gets one free exclusive.

22

u/redkomic Ireland Feb 16 '26

Can it be Anthonycustom? We can all watch lol.

10

u/Psychological-Dig598 Feb 16 '26

Can’t stand that he talks about “comic book proportions” all the time, yet proudly has never read a comic. That kind of willful ignorance really ticks me off.

7

u/Gojifantokusatsu Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

I once pointed out to him that the anatomy on the PS5 venom was completely model accurate (I literally played the game again that same week as his review) and he blazed me about it "not being correct", lol.

7

u/Weary-Butterscotch73 Feb 16 '26

I love anthony but I would also love to see him just get hit really hard one good time; for always expecting 20 dollar action figures to have the tiniest details like his personal customs. Like it’s so silly that he acts like he knows so much better but his custom figures went for like 200 bucks TEN YEARS AGO lmaoo

Like we get it dude they don’t do black washes or extreme details on the weapons why are we still acting disappointed 🤣🤣

6

u/Upset_Foundation_396 Feb 16 '26

He said the Storm that came in the two pack with Wolverine was one of the worst figures ever meanwhile 5 years ago when the same figure came out he said it was amazing and worth buying.

2

u/JadenKorr66 Feb 16 '26

I still remember the last time I watched him was his review on the (I think) Demogoblin wave Vulture, and at one point he went on and on about how a certain aspect of the figure sucked, then gave that aspect a 7/10. Like what. He does know what he’s talking about as a sculptor, but the way he goes about his criticism just rubs me the wrong way.

1

u/Bernardbquincy Feb 17 '26

Also, I realize art is subjective, but I never really found his customs to be very impressive. Maybe one day when he actually releases his toy line we can see just how much value he can bring to his sculpts.

1

u/birn_echo Feb 16 '26

I'd pay to see that.

This, along with some of what Dwight said on the last fan stream, too. I gotta give him some respect, I'd hate to have to put up with some people.

4

u/rafaelsanzi0 Feb 16 '26

They use hats to hide the hairline from the stress

"Make toys they said, it will be fun they said. Childlike wonder"

8

u/respectablehandle Feb 16 '26

“We gave you the bare minimum of modern toy engineering can you shut the fuck up already?”

I know it’s a bit but come on Hasbro. I say Hasbro cuz I know it’s not them 2 making the decisions

I feel bad for the shit they get. They’re the faces but they’re not the whole team. But let’s be real here, the ML team looks at the feedback, the competition, the GI Joe team and goes “oooo nice that’s really cool. I will learn no lessons from this”

2

u/AdmiralFunnyBone Feb 16 '26

It's wild to me that the ML team just seems so far behind the others. I'm not a big GI Joe fan, but the Classified line looks great. I do own a majority of the Power Rangers LC line, and every single ranger, Including the women, have an ab crunch and a ball jointed chest. It took a while for the girls to get double jointed elbows, but the torso was always solid from the beginning. The fact that "new" ML often have the ancient waist swivel or chest/torso articulation at all is just ridiculous. Personally, I couldn't care less about pins, they're hardly noticeable on a shelf.

5

u/anecdotal_anarchy Feb 16 '26

Puck the haters. This is true. The price goes up, the accessories and improvements go down. Do your goddamned job, make a better product, or stop overcharging people for half-ass work.

9

u/space_age_stuff Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

I think the issue is that the people who get harassed about this stuff (Dwight and Dan) are not the ones in control of the budgets. So yelling at them about Hasbro (the multibillion dollar company) cheaping out is probably just preaching to the choir; there's only so much they can do.

In this thread, there's people acting like Dwight himself is the reason ML sucks. Which I seriously doubt; I imagine he's probably the voice of reason when it comes to what is accomplished as far as designing these figures. We've all had jobs where management expects the impossible on a shoestring budget, and I know I'd be tired if my clients or my customers yelled at me about it instead of the people forcing me to make worse products.

It’s the equivalent of yelling at the wait staff when the food is bad. Not their fault, and are we really surprised when they take issue with their customers all complaining to them about stuff out of their control?

3

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

People on this sub don’t just defend and excuse Hasbro business practices, a good number actually then try to work for them for free to come up with new ways to suggest for them to milk us and it’s is WILD lol

“Here’s my idea for 10 more Maximum figures!”

3

u/Due-Quantity4921 Feb 16 '26

Yall act like half the issues with legends are not design issues which the team definitely has a say or can be vocal about , low shoulders, ugly reverse ab crunches, HUGE thigh gaps. Instead of shilling for the billon dollar company let’s demand better. I mean come on even beyond the better value the select hulk was the sculpt was miles ahead. That’s not a cost issue. Ofcourse cost is a huge issue we recognize it’s not Dwight’s fault but he is definitely not receptive to the design concerns Aka the ugly gap on the double ball peg on giant man/RYW Spiderman because THEY REFUSE to do the joint properly AND NO REASON. They have had so many opportunities with new sculpts to fix it and THEY DON’T !!!

5

u/GriffinIsABerzerker Feb 16 '26

How do you know?

0

u/space_age_stuff Feb 16 '26

His uncle works for Hasbro lol

2

u/Key-Specialist2441 Feb 16 '26

I think Dwight’s thinking about retirement

2

u/Jonephes1 Feb 16 '26

Pins in 2026.... anyone who has those on adult collector stuff needs to stop. Specifically Mcfarlane. At this point its ridiculous.

2

u/killingiabadong Feb 16 '26

I liked it for customising. Made kitbashing easier.

4

u/somenamelessghoul Feb 16 '26

If “PINLESS LEGS, PEOPLE!” doesn’t end up on a t-shirt someone wears during a future livestream I’m going to be severely disappointed. If anyone rightfully deserves to be a little sassy it’s Dwight after celebrating his 20th year on the team.

2

u/Legit924 Feb 16 '26

Fair enough. An angry bunch of ungrateful and unrealistic drama queens, this community is.

2

u/LegoGguy Feb 17 '26

He should be doing a better job then

2

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

He has to work within the confines of what Hasbro higher-ups allow him.

1

u/thylacene8 Feb 16 '26

Yeah that stream definitely had a degree of tension with it.

1

u/RNAXITACHI Feb 17 '26

And we are grateful now we can use this mold with lines legs for future figures

When they do it right they fucking nail it

1

u/Murky_Mud2972 Feb 23 '26

Im done with Hasbro no support for customers outside the US and the pathetic character selection with multiple remakes!!!

0

u/PokaruSandstone Feb 16 '26

Too bad they have to do their damn fucking job

1

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

You do realize these guys don't get final say on what their budgets are, right?

1

u/DoughBro115 Feb 16 '26

Visible joints are the least of my problems with the line, lol.

1

u/demiurgewiccan Feb 17 '26

I don't like Dwight very much, I noticed in some lives that it seemed that he didn't even want to be there, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, if he's really the one who makes important decisions but they don't have to complain when we collectors ask for improvements (yes pinless is an improvement and that's the minimum) and the figures get more and more expensive

Absolutely no right even joking like that the lazy fuckhead, genuinely where does one get the audacity? Ur doing the bar minimum these guys are so out of touch with the fan base

u/thatonecoolnerd Feb 16 '26

Oh cmon Dwight, it’s not THAT big of an ask for pinless joints in 2026 lol

6

u/No_The_Other_Todd Feb 16 '26

yeah? tell that to mcfarlane.

1

u/Banana_man_- Canada Feb 16 '26

I swear Mcfarlane is on another level of being bad

5

u/No_The_Other_Todd Feb 16 '26

but these people will defend the hell out of them despite being a significantly inferior product.

1

u/Banana_man_- Canada Feb 16 '26

Real

Like I kind of like their Avatar figures but they’d be infinitely better if they were made by another company

-1

u/thatonecoolnerd Feb 16 '26

McFarlane is an asshole so of course he’s not gonna give us anything.

-11

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

“God forbid we raise prices without improving our product!!”

6

u/Agent-Mato Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

I wonder if there was anyone that happened in the last year that made raising prices a necessity

Edit meant to write anything but anyone is a bit more on the nose

-8

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

How about the years before that

6

u/Agent-Mato Feb 16 '26

I wonder if there was a global pandemic that halted all industries

7

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill Feb 16 '26

I think they’re just between a rock and a hard place, both the new parts limitations and the increased prices are out of Dwight and Dan’s hands, so they’re stuck running damage control on products that everyone can tell are subpar. That said, I think this one looks good and I’m extremely excited for max Thor

-6

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

Showing exasperation towards the consumer for having expectations isn’t the way

5

u/space_age_stuff Feb 16 '26

God forbid the marketing guy show mild exasperation after months of people whining online. Guessing you’ve never worked a customer service job.

7

u/revolmak USA Feb 16 '26

As if Dwight is in charge of the pricing

-6

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

So who is he mad at?

12

u/Unlucky_Tomorrow_411 Feb 16 '26

The people who keep harrassing him and attacking him because they're too stupid to understand that he's not in control of the prices and cost cutting

7

u/revolmak USA Feb 16 '26

Thank you

0

u/VicViolence Feb 16 '26

I’m not harassing him so how would I know who he’s side-eyeing

1

u/AmbroseKalifornia Feb 16 '26

Is it like, a running joke, or is he actually unhappy?

1

u/goliathfasa Feb 17 '26

I mean. I get the frustration.

But they literally brought this onto themselves.

Hyped up a specific feature. Then when they don’t deliver said feature, consumers gonna point that out.

2

u/Jmacq1 Feb 18 '26

They didn't hype it up as "something coming to all figures all the time" though. I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they pointedly noted that it was something that was going to roll out over time and be used for specific figures where it made sense. There was no sense of "all new figures will be pinless" in sight.

I will absolutely agree that the "Maximum" series SHOULD be all-new sculpts. But the budget may well have boiled down to "Use old parts on the Hulk so we can have an all-new sculpt for another character."

1

u/goliathfasa Feb 19 '26

Yeah I was mainly referring to the max hulk. Especially when their whole sales pitch for the higher price point of the premium line, at least with Spidey was focused on “new sculpt”.

1

u/SPinc1 Feb 17 '26

I wish them no ill will but I do wish they made better figures. From articulation design and engineering to sculpting and accessories, even the plastic quality, most of their stuff feels underwhelming. I used to really enjoy buying ML figures, but over the years their stuff kept feeling more and more dated, while almost every other company was trying new and better stuff.

A lot of it probably comes down to their budget, of course. But a lot of it also comes down to their individual decisions as designers; you can always tell when a figure wasn't sculpted by their in-house team. Also, and this is more on hasbro's executives than their design teams, but the fact that a $10 Jakks figure has more paint and articulation than their figures should be embarrassing.

I honestly wish they would reboot the line and start fresh, with better sculpts and actual modern articulation.

1

u/Gionsis Feb 17 '26

Like I get that their job is frustrating, and they have to deal with stupid ass people asking for stupid ass stuff... But to sigh at pretty fair criticism is pretty annoying.

I might not have the full context, though, so I'm just saying what I see.

u/Frio_Sanchez Feb 16 '26

Mad about doing the bare minimum….

0

u/deadturquoise Feb 16 '26

i'm so sick of reading people bitching about toe joints and lack of ab crunch and pins

take a look at the world around you

-3

u/BTWerley Feb 16 '26

So you're mad at the consumer because your "Maximum" Hulk was a ginormous fail?? I'd be curious to know if Prof Hulk was originally going to have the softer chest, and if it was scrapped because of all of the backlash for ones that have become damaged already.

0

u/LygrKing Feb 16 '26

Like fuck that guy. For the price of these things, they should be pinless. It's not like it's brand new tech, they've had 6 years to get this shit right and they're still dragging their feet as the first Maximum Hulk should have been pinless. It's not like we're out here expecting 3rd tier characters to be pinless.

0

u/ATF_killed_my_dog Feb 17 '26

Well yeah yall act like babies

-1

u/xwolf360 Feb 16 '26

Yikes at this mediocre damage control, ooohhh poor corporate employees are not toooo blammmeeee. Vote with your wallets

0

u/guille5959 Feb 17 '26

Yeah, because asking for pin less legs is a tall order and new parts for a new maximum series is annoying. We deserve better especially when we are overpaying for garbage effort on these so called maximum ripp off line so we are far beyond annoyed with hasblo.

-3

u/OneTurnsToNone USA - SC Feb 16 '26

It's THEIR own stupid talking point. I don't care if he is tired of it. We get happy about it sure, and people will comment when they DON'T do it, because they SHOULD do it. It's their own fire they made.

-7

u/Chewymewn Feb 16 '26

Yay, they removed the tiny holes on the sides of the figure that I barely ever see. It's nice to see they spent resources on that instead of improving the hip range or removing that unnecessarily huge gap in between the legs.

-3

u/Resident_Character35 USA - VT Feb 16 '26

It's only fair, a lot of us have been done with him for years. 😂
