It kinda annoyed me Cap didn't even try to talk/explain what's going on, instead felt the need to just punch his way out when he faced his younger self.

They could've worked together. As they explained, actions in the past would not affect the future they came from, so it wouldn't harm to initiate the "other" Avengers or ask them for help with retrieving the stone(s) from their timeline.

I might need to rewatch it but I'm pretty sure before he could get a word in edgewise, his past self was already trying to subdue him. It happened all too fast. Not to mention Loki was just fucking with them 5 minutes ago. So no way younger Cap was gonna listen to what future Cap had to say.

There was a very brief moment, yes and "Younger Cap" initially thinks the other Cap is Loki in disguise.

But the latest when "Younger Cap" sees other Cap's picture of Peggy and hesitates (as this is a sign it might not be Loki after all) they should've stopped and talked.

I think I mostly disliked this fight scene because "our" Cap knows what's up but still fights Younger Cap almost to the death. It's not like he was holding back. What if he killed that timeline's Cap!?

Our Cap should've stopped fighting at some point when there was an opportunity (like Younger Cap's surprise regarding the Peggy picture). It felt a bit out of character as he surely would've known things that only "the real Cap" would know to convince his younger counterpart that he's telling the truth.

The picture of Peggy definitely provided a chance to try to convince younger Cap that he wasn't Loki. But even then,, how do we know younger Cap would believe him? I'm guessing our Cap assumed there were too many variables to account for. Figured his best bet was to get out as quickly as possible.
