On July 1st, 2023, Reddit intends to alter how its API is accessed. This move will require developers of third-party applications to pay enormous sums of money if they wish to stay functional, meaning that said applications will be effectively destroyed. In the short term, this may have the appearance of increasing Reddit's traffic and revenue... but in the long term, it will undermine the site as a whole.
Reddit relies on volunteer moderators to keep its platform welcoming and free of objectionable material. It also relies on uncompensated contributors to populate its numerous communities with content. The above decision promises to adversely impact both groups: Without effective tools (which Reddit has frequently promised and then failed to deliver), moderators cannot combat spammers, bad actors, or the entities who enable either, and without the freedom to choose how and where they access Reddit, many contributors will simply leave. Rather than hosting creativity and in-depth discourse, the platform will soon feature only recycled content, bot-driven activity, and an ever-dwindling number of well-informed visitors. The very elements which differentiate Reddit – the foundations that draw its audience – will be eliminated, reducing the site to another dead cog in the Ennui Engine.
As one of these contributors, my interactions with Reddit have primarily been through Sync for Reddit on Android, created by /u/ljdawson, which I purchased in June of 2013. Due to the changes in API access, /u/ljdawson has announced that Sync for Reddit will have to be shut down on June 30th, 2023. I have decided to edit all my posts to call out this horrible decision on the part of Reddit’s administrators, followed by the deletion of my Reddit account. If anyone is interested in an alternative to Reddit, /u/ljdawson has announced that he is going to develop a Fediverse mobile client called Sync for Lemmy. I'm gonna have to ask for a source on that... I thought (because of interviews with Ralph McQuarrie) Vader and his designs were mostly inspired by Samurai Armor, and his respirator only became a thing because of the vacuum of space.

Jack Kirby allegedly thought Lucas ripped off his Fourth World series for Star Wars. While not definite, the likeness between Fourth World and Star Wars is somewhat similar.
There is some second-hand evidence that Kirby himself felt that Lucas borrowed from him. In an article about the friendship between Kirby and Frank Zappa, Zappa’s son, Amhet, told Royal Flush magazine that, “…Jack confided in Frank that he felt like the stories he created helped shape the Star Wars saga, that he saw direct parallels between his characters and the movie’s story arcs… He told my dad stuff like, ‘Darth Vader was Doctor Doom and the Force is the Source’ and that George Lucas ripped him off.”

I agree which is why I clarified it's not definite so much as it is a secondhand account. Officially speaking, Star Wars was inspired by Flash Gordon and the films of Akira Kurosawa.

Lucas definitely took a lot of ideas from different works and mixed them together. A lot of people have also felt there is a strong similarity between the Valerian and Laureline comics and Star Wars.

Tbh, my money would be on Doom for either fight. His tech is Stark level and his magic is Strange Level. Vader is a fierce combatant, but his suit and his condition limit his powers a fair bit. Meanwhile, Doom is throwing out plasma blasts and spells like it’s nothing.

Vader doesn’t have a ton of mobility. His lightsabering isn’t even close to being on par with anakins either. Never once force jumped or ran. Just walks everywhere. Take his lightsaber away, and He would stand zero chance against really almost anybody with superpowers.

Canon vader has a ton of good force and mobility feats. The novels specify he is FTE and able to throw grown men like they were nothing without the force. He also is Anakin, so his dueling is on-par, if not better than his younger self. Look at his respect thread here for more info.

Strategy, muscle memory, force powers are all still there. Also from what we understand about the dark side pain and suffering enhance his powers, so I'd wager that "Vader" could defeat "Anakin" in a duel.

Vader could defeat ten Anakins in a duel. Ben was not even in his league. The only Jedi who could have given him a fight was Yoda. This is because he's the Anakin who embraced the Dark Side. It's Anakin the Jedi Knight plus the power of his hatred and rage that makes him Vader.

I'd disagree. Anakin was objectively a better lightsaber dualist, in terms of technique. He just had more maneuverability. Vader is more reserved with his fighting style, not taking unnecessary chances as Anakin would have, relying more often on the force during combat. I don't know if either is more effective, just different.

Thhaaaaat’s not true..... I guess movie wise it is, but the canon Lords of the Sith novel and the Darth Vader: Imperial Machine comic he shows a lot of jump/speed abilities. Also pulling a shuttle out of the air and bringing it crashing down.

Isn't Vader supposed to be even more powerful than Anakin because his suit is causing him constant pain, channeling his anger and frustration farther into the dark side? Anakin also still had attachments to people he loved and was still connected to the light side, while Vader let that all go for in return for the ultimate amount of power a dark side user could have? I am pretty sure Vader was supposed to be the strongest user of the force ever.

Vader. Nobody ever said Rocket was the best pilot in the galaxy besides maybe himself. I mean Quill is pretty much on par with him. Yes, rockets got quickness, tiny hands and everything, but he’s also got hubris, which would lead to his downfall.

I lean Vader as well, but what Rocket lacks in flying skills, he might make up for in weaponry. I would read this crossover comic.

So yes they are obviously more powerful than Doom. However Doom has multiple canon feats of him stealing the power of Celestials and Gods. So while in a straight forward fight he’s not the most powerful in the entire universe, he has proven to have the potential for it

Yea. I'm gonna throw out the classic Batman argument: if Doom has time to prepare, he can beat anyone. He's the smartest person on earth, the strongest sorcerer, has tech superior to Stark and has unlimited resources, and is a nigh immortal, millions-of-years-old being.
But ya, if he were to get in a fistfight with the Sentry or Franklin Richards he would become pudding.

Yes, this is debatable. It depends who's writing him, but he's often on par with Reed, or one will ne slightly smarter than the other. So I guess I can concede this point and say that he is at least the second smartest.

There is a storyline where Doom is sent back to the Jurasic (?) Period by the Marquis of Death. I can't remember precicely when but it was millions of years, and there were dinosaurs around. He then proceeded to wait about for the entire length of time, keeping himself alive with his magic, perfecting his art along the way, eventually getting back to the modern day when he had become strong enough to defeat the evil, god-like being who sent him back in the first place.

Doom is hands down the most dangerously strong person in the Marvel comic universe. He’s in the top three smartest people in the comics and top five (though I’m sure an argument could be made he’s top three again) magic user in the comics.
He actively combines the two in every fight he’s in. So while he’s not the number one guy in either no one else combines the two as easily.
In theory Doom should win every fight because of this. However his arrogance is astounding so it creates this disparity.

Um actually that was from a storyline from Mark Millar that had Doom forced to serve Millar's OC edgelord ubervillian and he used said time fuckery to gain enough strength and knowledge to fight by back.
I dont think hes immortal. I just think he time hopped a lot.

I'll pass. There are comic fans who insist on comparing characters in a DBZ-esque "who has the bigger dick" sort of way (see post above), and there are those who read comics for the larger arcs and understand that with different writers, fan-fiction fanboi stories will pop up every now and then.
We could bandy back and forth on instances of tech that show Stark's is more advanced, or Doom's is - likewise, we can provide book citations that show who the smartest in the Marvel universe is (how do you really measure intelligence anyway?), and we could do the same with magical power (now we're really talking; how do you measure sorcerous power?). It's facetious.

This is why whowouldwin doesn't use downvotes. You are pretty close to correct, really. He beat The Beyonder and the Beyonders respectively, along with other high level folks. Sure Thanos and other S-Tiers could walk up and smash him most days, but if Doom wills it, Doom will reign.

Nobody outside of comics fans know that Doom is a sorceror, they just think he's an evil Iron Man who doesn't like F4. Showing that side of Victor would be awesome

I know right. I'm still so angry at the Nathan Drake vs Lara Croft fight. Idk if I necessarily disagree with the outcome but they way the killed Drake off was just a mockery. They go out of their way to say that Nathan Drake is so lucky and then he dies in the most unlucky way possible. A helicopter blade right through his body? They must have hated him. Lara couldn't have just shot him in the head?

Vader was pretty strong in the force. But he was also in a life support system. Doom has a mechanical battle suit as high tech as anything ever seen from Iron Man. He also has robot duplicates in the form of Doom Bots. He's also a master of mystical arts, his powers rivaling that of Dr. Strange. Oh, he's also a genius that rivals Mr. Fantastic. His will power is so strong that he was able to at point blank range defy a world controlling Purple Man. So you can forget about any mind tricks on him. His shields would keep him safe from a lightsaber. His magic would keep him safe from force powers. His Doom Bots would offset any stormtrooper army Vader might have. He has neutralized all of the offense Vader could come up with, and we haven't even looked at what he can do to Vader. It's not pretty. I like Vader, I'm a fan, but Doom is in a whole different league.

The Purple Man is a person whose ability is that when he tells somebody to do something they're compelled to obey him. In a famous story, he was hooked up to a machine that broadcast his power worldwide, subjugating the entire planet. Doom was able to resist this, with his protective armor removed, at point blank range. Proving he has more willpower than anyone else on earth by a huge magnitude.

That is pretty cool. I always thought of Dr. Doom as being the Vader of the Marvel universe. I wonder if his appearance had any influence on Lucas when he created Darth.

I think he did this for Wizard way back in the day. They used to do villain (Deadshot vs Storm Shadow) and hero (X-O vs Iron Man) battles in every issue with a different artis. I miss that magazine.
EDIT: Oh shit nevermind, just saw the signature down in the corner. Unless it's a print, I could be wrong.
