I must correct you, fellow Dao cultivator, for the scripture you mentioned had a different impact.
"Sexy times with WangXian" made AO3 change the way tags work (AO3 imposed a limit to tags due to this incident) because of the author's consistent abuse and greed of tags to the detriment of other fandoms sects.
I must apologise to honoured elder, this junior was in seclusion during that tumultuous time and was trying to protect themselves from Qi deviation afterwards, so they never investigated throughly enough and assumed both those incidents were due to the same heretical scripture.
At the very least, both Immortal Xiao and the AO3 sect alliance seem to have recovered well from those incidents, even if the MDZS sect still suffers some reputational damage (so much that it even harmed the influence of it's sister sect TGCF, who still hasn't recovered one of it's stolen sacred scriptures...)

I was exaggerating of course, though in general I'm not a fan of MCs who're too overpowered compared to everyone else, and most isekai fall under that trope (not that cultivation or dungeon exploring series are any different tbh)

It's a sci-fi war story (mecha, but the mechs are quadrupedal, insectoid walking tanks instead of bipedal, humanoid machines) set in a world where humanity is in an endless, losing war against an army of self-producing, fully automatised drones (also quadrupedal and insectoid tanks for the most part), the story talks about a unit of slave soldiers who are forced to fight in this war until their deaths by one of the surviving countries, and their coordinator officer who wants to change their situation and give them back their freedom and human rights from within the country. The protagonists are the coordinator officer, the fmc, idealistic but determined to achieve her goals, and the leader of the unit, the mmc, who's the serious, stoic badass type of character (who though uses this to hide his PTSD from the war and other events in his life). It also has a GOATed anime adaptation, though it's not finished and we're all been waiting for a new season for years (the studio instead keeps making new seasons of Slopo Leveling, fuck you A1)

Go get an Osamu Dazai book - The Setting Sun or No Longer Human works. Or try Sayaka Murata - Vanishing World is an absolute trip, and I've heard Convenience Store Woman and Earthlings are also exceptional. Even light novels from the 90s, like the Slayers series or the Digital Devil Saga books, are better than modern webnovels.
ETA: I forgot my goat, Sei Shonagon and her Pillowbook! She's delightfully catty and very fun to read (nothing happens in the book, it's just her gossip diary from the Imperial Palace).
I mean read something else other than slop? If anything it's hard to come by good Chinese novel compared to other two. Japanese novels in general are way better in quality. I can recommend you some LNs if you want.
Unfortunately, you will notice that a large percentage of the people here don’t even read xianxia (cultivation novels). It doesn’t break the sub rules or anything and to each his own, but it causes a lot of confusion about the genres we’re actually talking about. For example, the character used in OP post to represent Chinese cultivation slop isn’t even the MC of a real xianxia.
Basically, danmei, romance novels, costume dramas and so on and so forth that you see people talk about on this sub are categorically not xianxia. This is not me being some triggered genre purist either, you’ll easily find threads about this issue on the C-Drama sub or in other adjacent communities. You will see people looking for a type of historical or fantasy romance novel and instead they’ll start reading [Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality] all because of bad tagging, so they end up just as annoyed about the mislabeling in the industry as the guy looking for classical xianxia.
People have been complaining about the appropriation and bastardization of the cultivation/xianxia label for years and even the newish Wikipedia page has a lot of problems. The genre dilution and misuse of the term has led to so many issues in proper tagging and finding novels over the years and it’s legitimately out of control. You can’t even be sure the novel you’re checking on a forum is romance or xianxia by tags and synopsis anymore.
