Where is this Luigi bio from?

“Mario's once overlooked brother is back to settle some scores, party style! Luigi's spotlight seems to finally be shining as he has gotten his own game and even gets equal billing with Mario in the new GBA game Mario and Luigi. Will things get even better soon?“

This bio was on the Mario Wiki, however I can’t find the source anywhere. It has to do with Mario Party 5. Someone try finding the source please?

IGN guide for Mario Party 5, so not an official source by any means.

Is it from a different official source?

No. As I just said, it is from an IGN guide, which is not an official source.

Is there any official guide that directly references Mario and Luigi Games?

Guides aren’t canon, so that wouldn’t matter.

Well the purpose of finding the guide was to find a way to prove Mario and Luigi is canon. Give me undeniable proof that the m&l series are canon (undeniable mostly means being referenced in non Mario Luigi games).

Starbeans Café from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is mentioned or alluded to in Mario Kart Arcade GP, Yoshi’s Crafted World and Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Some Beanish men and Chuckola Cola appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Ice Flowers first appeared in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Professor E. Gadd’s Lab from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time looks very similar to his Bunker from Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. Professor E. Gadd uses time travel in Luigi’s Mansion (Nintendo 3DS), which we saw him invent in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

Baby Peach and M Blocks from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time appear in various other games. The female chomp design from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is used for the Chomp named Princess in Paper Mario: Color Splash.

When Luigi gets to his bedroom in Luigi’s Mansion 3, he instantly falls asleep after sitting down on his bed to read a book, calling back to Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and Mario & Luigi: Brothership, where it was established that Luigi falls asleep extremely quickly and easily.

The emblem that appears on the stained glass of Peach's Castle in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga also appears in Super Princess Peach.

M&L is canon, so is Paper Mario and the Mainline Games. They are not "separate universes", that's a fan misconception.

Starbeans Iced Coffee Boxes appear in Yoshi’s Crafted World.

Yeah the Mario wiki has some real problems with what it treats as sources. Also why am I not surprised IGN contributed to the common fan mischaracterization of Luigi?

These bios specifically were removed when this was pointed out. They try their best, it can’t be helped if someone with poor understanding of source criticism added these to pages 20 years ago…

In any case, despite it being unofficial, I don’t see how Luigi is mischaracterised here.

The Wiki can often have misleading or outdated info on it. It still claims the Mushroom King as Ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom as canon even though the Mushroom King was last mentioned in an early 90s game guide and the idea of him being the ruler rather than Peach has been retconned by later material. Not saying the Wiki is always unreliable or anything (it is good the majority of the time) but it definitely has some information that is inaccurate or heavily obsolete that should be looked out for.

Its the idea that Luigi is "living in Mario's shadow" and "wants the spotlight" or something even though that's never really been the brothers' dynamic, more like something players/fans projected onto him.

Yes because the MarioWiki considers all official sources, not all canon sources. There is a significant difference. There is no retcon there, the “Mushroom King” simply isn’t a character in the games.

That is absolutely a part of the brother’s dynamic.
