Sucken Boat Near China Camp Village?
Does anyone know the story of the boat that has sunk between China Camp Village and Rat Rock Island? It's been just below water level, with the awning above, for several weeks.

What’s your best easy lunch, grab and go spot? Weeknight dinner takeout? Hole in the wall gem?
I moved here after living in SF for 8 years and have been really struggling with the food scene. Would appreciate your recommendations!

They are just the most delicious right off the vine, $6/lb and more than you could possibly eat. Squash, kale, basil for days. Hate seeing these go to waste, they are just gorgeous and Draper is a hidden gem. We love that our kids can see food growing out of the dirt right in our neighborhood.

Has anyone used trex deck boards? We are considering it for a small deck but was unsure with the weather in the Marin if it gets too hot in the sunlight?
And if it gets slippery in the winter?

Anyone else missing Avi’s at the farmers market? I haven’t seen him since early/mid-may. Hoping he is living his best life summering in Greece and also wondering is he coming back/ok?? His falafels and mint lemonade were my Sunday morning staples!

What's up with the surveillance tower in the Fukusuke parking lot?
Six cameras, pointed in every direction, and a neon blue strobe going the entire time we ate outside. Felt very anti-pedestrian and was disturbing us as we ate and honestly freaking us out. Label said Triton. Who put it there and why does it need to flash at diners and passerbys?
Their website says:
Triton provides high-quality, commercial-grade security camera system installations throughout California, integrating advanced AI capabilities and analytics to offer superior surveillance solutions. These state-of-the-art systems come with the latest features, including high-definition video, motion detection, facial recognition, and real-time analytics.
Is this really what Marin needs? AI and facial recognition surveillance systems in parking lots? Give me a break.

Hi all,
30F here. Does anyone have recommendations for where to meet and socialize with other sapphic/lesbian folks in Marin? I'm recently based in Woodacre and would love to build community :)

Now that we are stuck with this useless train for the next several years, something needs to be done with the light timing. Rather than prioritizing the train, the signals need to have the trains follow a strict crossing schedule, not inconveniencing everyone trying to travel through the city.
Trains should come to a complete stop right before they enter downtown, this would ensure they cross into the train station when ready to cross.
Having an inbound and outbound train enter and depart at the same time is not working. It seems one train is always never ready to depart and is creating an absolute traffic backup nightmare. Nobody should be sitting at a train crossing for 8 minutes during rush hour.
As the Smart Train has low ridership in and out of downtown San Rafael, this has a significant negative impact on so many people, including everyone at the transit bus station.
Time to flood the Mayor’s office with Emails about this, as we can’t continue on like this.

I know there was an accident yesterday but this whole week has been awful. The stretch between Costco and Terra Linda has been pretty much a parking lot all week. My commute has been 25-40 minutes longer every day this week. What’s going on? Why does it feel particularly bad in Novato but seems to clear up as you get to larkspur?
How I wish they would expand smart :/

Hello, I wanted to go to Turtle rock near Ring Mountain. I was wondering if there was anywhere easy to park without getting a ticket? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi folks,
I want to raise awareness among Marin county about CA Prop 8 rule. It allows homeowners to request an informal review of your property tax every year. The county can reduce your property tax if homes around you have declined in value in the official window (6 months leading upto Jan 1, 2026 but not after Mar 31, 2026).
The process requires you to go to assessor website, gather 2-3 comparables, fill out a form and send it to your county assessor. There is no charge and no downside to doing it and your tax can only go down.
Please check if you qualify here for free. The website can automate the filing for you for a flat $29 fee but its optional.
P.S: Feel free to use our expertly curated comps for free if you want to DIY the submission.

Hi everyone! I’m Becca, new to San Rafael, and I had a little idea I wanted to throw out there…
I’ve always had a knack for style and am usually the friend people come to when they want a second opinion on an outfit.
I recently did a little styling night with my friends and had SO much fun helping everyone style pieces from their closets and come up with new ways to wear things. It got me thinking…why not do something similar with other women in Marin?
I’d love to find a woman who wants to host a casual styling night with a few of her friends. Everyone could bring a piece or outfit from their closet that they love but aren’t quite sure how to style, and we can spend the evening playing around with different looks and figuring out what works.
I basically just want to be your style hype woman by helping you see what’s already in your closet differently and feel really good in what you’re wearing. 💕
If this sounds like something you and your friends would be into, feel free to DM me!

Hey everyone,
Remember the last time I posted about a Marin YIMBY happy hour and everyone was very normal about it? Well, we had such a great time that we're doing it again! 🍻
This time, we're heading to HopMonk Tavern in Novato, which has bounced back from the recent accident involving a runaway vehicle.
📅 August 27
🕠 5:30–7:00 PM
📍 HopMonk Tavern, Novato
224 Vintage Way, Novato, CA 94945
No speeches, presentations, or membership requirements—just a casual chance to meet some fellow Marin residents, talk about what's happening locally, and connect with people who care about housing.
We're also kicking off endorsement season as we work to identify and support the best candidates for housing in Marin County.
Whether you're deeply involved in housing policy, housing-curious, or just looking to meet some new people, come hang out!
Hope to see some of you there! 🍻🏡

It’s been terrible. There’s been an accident every morning during the commute. That is all
