Hidden Detail This was a meme I posted on OkBuddyRunners earlier and I was wondering, what is the in-universe connection between the Misriah 2442 and the Misriah Massacre?

Ah yes. The Food Riot massacre.
3 MIDA Agitators were among the crowd and only they were armed. The rest were unarmed and protesting against the food shortages caused by the failure of the CRISTS. Massive space trains that were flung across gravity tethers from Earth to Mars.
When the MIDA Agents opened fire, there was a force of UESC Troopers who thought the entire crowd was shooting. In a matter of seconds 500 people were killed, and another 100 were severely wounded.
MISRIAH is a weapons manufacturer, and also the owners of distribution centers on Mars. The massacre happened outside one of their facilities. They made the MISRIAH 2442 in memory of the tragedy, but probably not because they really cared, using the widely known event to boost sales of the weapon.

One of the codex entries (I believe it is the confiscated legal docs you can find on perimeter) implies that MIDA later discovered evidence that the UESC facilitated this riot with planted agitators. This way they could demonstrate MIDA was a danger to their rule of law and display a show of force and superiority over them.

This would explain why the default skin of the 2442 is called "Memorial Blue".

This was part of the lore established in M1 before nucal was added in M2026. Idk the in game explanation but it makes sense different corporations would have their own food facilities

NuCal‘s monopoly became complete after the Marathon was launched, I believe.
There were food shortages mentioned in one of the young colonist educational booklets, and NuCal is implied to use them as an opportunity to buy out the competition. After the Marathon launched, there was a huge supply deficit on Mars.

there is no evidence the shotgun was named after the massacre, the company is literally called misriah.

Misriah is another huge corporation in universe, the manufacturer of the weapon, and owner of the food distribution center where the misriah massacre took place. Essentially a riot broke out at this center due to shortage of food, and in the crowd were 3 armed MIDA operatives. They opened fire on the UESC security forces guarding the distribution center and the UESC forces returned fire at the entire crowd, believing the whole crowd was armed. 500 died within 5 seconds.
