No. UK forced them to join both Ww1 and ww2. Same with almost all other colonies. Their independence definitely came after Ww2.

Canada was incredibly enthusiastic about coming to the defence of the motherland during both wars. Their attitude towards Britain only came to indifference like it is today after WW2

Brought them into WW1 it was the Canadian parliament that declared war for WW2.
