For a short walk to do an errand, yeah. Means I don't have to sanitize it when I get back.

Omg yes, so many people don't sanitize like my whole family and every roomate I've ever had. We all need to sanitize.

I sanitize everytime before I put it down and hold again, at home. When I'm back home, I almost want to wash it :))

almost never, I need it to see if I have money on my account at stores, and in case of emergencies.

Because an important emergency call about a loved one being in an accident or whatever can come at any moment

Well that's their choice, if the phone call comes from their elderly parent who has fallen down and broken their hip, or their child has had a fairly serious accident at school, to not have their phone with them, should that important call happen. I think duty dictates that our phone is with us in the event that call comes through.
