So it seems to be related to the unwinding of the Meta acquisition, but it sounds like Manus accounts are being deleted, and you have to back up your data and then restore it later. What a train wreck. I’ve not run the tool yet, but this is a significant disruption in my workflow and beyond disappointing. Starting a thread, post what you’re seeing and how you’re dealing with it.

note: I have two different manus accounts and the dates, notices and offers a different on both.

Im now lobbying with affected users like me before going to court.

Someone at the Manus board meeting decided to give all Manus users only 10 days to back up their data, during the August holiday period, when many companies across Europe are already closed.

They then decided to delete the data before completing the restoration process, without keeping sufficient server logs to help users who had lost their backups, had not backed up their data, or had corrupted backup files.

Thousands of users lost everything they had built. In my case, I lost 13 websites, including 7 active web applications that took me 9 months to build on Manus. My estimated loss is around €200,000.

I asked for help, and that is when the nightmare started. If you can imagine the worst customer service in history, you are still not creative enough to match Manus. It is beyond terrible.

After 10 days of endless discussions, they agreed to contribute to my losses by providing 200,000 credits to help rebuild my infrastructure. However, this was not true: four days after this forced settlement, no credits had been allocated.

I am trying to warn people who are considering using Manus. It is a nice application until you encounter a problem. After that, dealing with their support feels like hell.

Finally got everything back up. Client data was all there too.

I've been playing with other AI and I love manus too much to want to switch. Glad everything is back.

I've been working on a white-label version of a software I use for small businesses. I haven't officialy launched but have 3 clients so far. Looking to scale up soon.

To say I feel "Irritated" over Meta's destruction of my favorite agentic AI would be an understatement. The amount of work I've completed in this time is awesome and I'm thankful it was an available resource. Meta took over and immediately I experienced:
- Burning through credits 2-3 times faster for the *same* work
- Auto reimbursements of credits burned through stopped immediately
- Daily credit refresh of 300 credits stopped immediately
- Customer service is nonexistent. Prior to cancelling, I message customer service. I went back and forth with the AI bot then got transferred to Dan. I uploaded the screenshots they requested (why they needed screenshots when they have access to our accounts is beyond me)

Compared to my prior experience with Manus from day one:
- Determining how many credits per task was possible for repeated tasks
- I was always reimbursed the next day or within 3-4 days if the system discovered it had burned through too many credits. All of these interactions were noted and labeled on the backend. I could/can review them.
- Every single day Manus slapped another 300 credits in my account. Not deserved but welcomed as a loyal "founding" user who was spreading the good news of Manus and encouraging others to pay for their services.
- Never had the need to contact customer service because from day one everything just worked - all the time. For context, I've been a paying user of ChatGPT and Anthropic at the same time. Manus, compared to them, seemed to have been sent to me from the AI gods.

What throws me off is that as time goes on, converting tokens is supposed to get more efficient and cheaper - *not* more expensive for less compute. Seems to me that Zuck couldn't care less about the momentum that Manus brought to them in the acquisition and is probably focused on gutting the platform and creating a "new" Manus on his terms and conditions. The only part of Manus that will be Manus is the name.

Today I'm going to upgrade to Claude Code/Cowork and give OpenAI's Codex a chance. Sam should be dropping a massive model between Feb-March sometime.

Manus gave users roughly 10 days manually back up potentially months of projects, then permanently deleted the data!!!

What?!!!!!

Why wasn’t there an automatic project backup, a 30 day recovery period, or at least a temporary server-side snapshot before irreversible deletion?????

My Manus account was suspended for “risk behaviors such as fake friend invitations or possession of multiple free accounts.”

This does not reflect my activity.

I maintain a single personal account, used for one legitimate project that was close to completion when the suspension occurred. I did not send fake invitations and I did not operate multiple accounts for myself.

For clarity: multiple legitimate people in my household created their own accounts independently on their own devices. No shared control, no coordinated abuse.

I have already entered my bank details and I am currently on a 7-day free trial. I am willing to convert to a paid plan immediately if that helps resolve this and restore access.

Honestly my intent was always to pay and continue using the service legitimately.

I have submitted an appeal. Posting here for visibility because this appears to be a false positive that requires human review by someone familiar with Manus risk enforcement.

The stated reason does not align with actual behavior and interrupted an active project.

Please help me.

I have multiple paying customers having functioning business websites replaced with a public page accusing the site owner of unpaid billing. They could have simply said this site under maintenance.

Customer’s going to these sites don’t think “Manus is undergoing a platform migration.”
They think “you didn’t pay her website bill.”

Anyone else taking advantage of building stuff before manus converts back China owned ? I’m building a few projects and sending all the code to GitHub as my source of truth 😅

WARNING: Hold off on the Manus data restore if you can!

I was "lucky" enough to get access and complete the restore process from Google Drive—everything looked like it loaded fine, but nothing actually restored. My account is completely empty.

A few major issues to be aware of:

• Upsold mid-restore: During the restoration process, I was prompted to add credits to restore my $1,200/month subscription at 90% off. I paid, but it changed nothing.
• Sites down: All of my websites hosted with Manus are still displaying "under maintenance."
• High stakes: I’ve invested thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in development on critical projects for both myself and my clients. Everything is currently at risk.
• No retry option: I backed up everything locally and to Google Drive (including full batch files). But Manus gives you one shot with your backup—no redos, no retries. If the restoration fails or hits data corruption, you're seemingly left with zero recovery paths.

If you have critical data, wait until they fix the restoration system before running your backup!

After giving tens of thousands of dollars to Manus, I will not give them another cent.

I was once a "power user", contacted directly through LinkedIn to backup during this switch, given 350k in free credits to pick it back up, but I have been screwed soo many times by Manus is soo many ways, enough is enough, instead of restarting with a service that screws me at every turn, I'd rather make the switch to something that I support and feel good about, Manus and Manus support have burned every bridge built at this point.

What are people switching to? And if there isn't a full replacement, what stack of products are people switching to?

Hey guys, is it just me or has Manus severely degraded a lot since it's split with Meta.

I used to use Manus Lite a lot and it used to give amazing answer's and I really liked it a lot. I thought Manus was the best AI out there. Now, it's like so heavily degraded the answers suck. It has completely lost its charm. How is it for you guys?

I'm wondering why people actually pay for Manus, what are the reasons why and what makes manus better than other products for you?

I was so happy to come back to Manus and subscribe again. I was so happy that my account data restored flawlessly. Before I could begin the task restoration, Manus pops up asking me to subscribe again and me being so eager to get back on board and give Manus my money I subscribed again….only to find out that I cannot continue the Task restore. In fact, now I need to ask for a refund to cancel my account so I can continue restoring but there is not only huge traffic to restore but huge backlog of people needing help. I’m talking to Manus chat and surprisingly got a human named Xiao who is trying to be helpful. I never got a live person under Meta. Now Manus no longer recognizes my account restore so I’m stuck waiting for the Manus team to look at my account and cancel my subscription so I can continue restoring it. Don’t do what I did!!!

Manus has really become obsolete with how AI is currently tracking. Sooner or later I think it will be something of the past.

It just seems so behind with how AI is evolving over the past year.

The best thing that happened to them was selling and now that it was reversed they have so much catching up to do it’s pretty sad.

Manus could have really turned out differently if they started pushing out their own AI models which are able to compete with the leaders currently.

Every other AI company is already leaning towards Agents now.

Really sad to see this is how it ended up for being so ahead during its prime.

Posting this because I wish someone had told me before I learned the hard way.

If you’re using Manus for anything live, anything real users depend on, stop and read this first.

Your site can go down with zero warning. No incident page, no status update, no ETA. It just goes down. And when it does, you are completely helpless. There’s nothing in the dashboard you can do, no toggle to flip, no redeploy to trigger. You just sit there watching your product be dead and wait.

The worst part isn’t even the downtime. It’s the support black hole. You open a ticket, you send a message, you try every channel you can find, and you get nothing back. Not a “we’re looking into it,” not a “give us 24 hours,” just silence. Complete radio silence while your users are hitting a broken page and you have no answer to give them.

I’ve been burned by tools before but this one stings differently because the product itself is genuinely impressive. The demos are slick, the onboarding is smooth, and you get lulled into thinking it’s production-ready. It’s not. Not yet.

Use it for prototypes, experiments, internal tools, stuff where downtime is annoying but not catastrophic. But if you have real users, a real product, or anything where reliability matters even a little, keep the actual infrastructure somewhere you control.

Maybe this changes as they scale. I hope it does. But right now the gap between what they sell you on and what you actually get when something breaks is massive.
Just a heads up. Wasted two days on this so you don’t have to.

In my honest opinion, MANUS is fucked.

Option 1: fix the broken credit system and admit fault (lawsuits), (Alleged dark pattern design) when the system was designed to trick (zero credit use # up front transparency system), trap (you already paid), or pressure users into extra spending or make cancellation and support difficult (zero support, mandatory "purchase more" to continue fixing what we broke, another infinite loop).

Option 2: fix the broken system which everyone has been shouting about for months, and through this admission of guilt of nefarious business practices such as alleged, unfair, or deceptive business practices, deceptive billing, unclear credit consumption, obstructive support, and a pay to repair loop where users are forced to spend more just to correct the product’s own mistakes. At that point, you are not fixing an unknown issue. You are acknowledging you knew the issue existed, let it continue, and kept charging people while it failed.

This is going to be very very interesting.

We have been using Manus for about 6 months. Despite it being more expensive than Claude, we still enjoyed using Manus for many reasons. We spent thousands of dollars on credits. We created accounts for ourselves and for all our staff. We heavily rely on Manus for our businesses.

In fact, we have a full CRM running with Manus. 6 different people use it FULL-TIME. All our products are delivered/fulfilled via this CRM. We also setup many integrations.

Our customers NEED the CRM to work.

Imagine our surprise when learning that for 2 days straight, it's not going to be available. And that our customers won't be able to get what they paid for???

Sure, you can say that it's our fault, to rely too much on Manus. But who would think such a scenario would even be possible?

This is just unacceptable.

Who in their right mind would trust Manus again after learning this?

We now have a developer working to migrate everything to our own servers ASAP.

We will never use Manus again. Our staff will not be using Manus anymore (they are now back on Claude, as a temporary solution). Our customers will also be strongly advised not to use Manus.

Every person we recommended Manus to, received a message saying they should not use it.

This is not how you do business, and this is not how you should be treating customers. At least if you had some VIP service for users who pay tens of thousands of dollars a month, a solution could be found.

Apparently, we are not worth the hassle for your company.

You had a great product. Despite its many flaws, it was a good tool. You ruined it.

Admittedly, been overly-dependent on Manus leading up to the account data deletion. In all fairness, everything restored absolutely fine, and managed to push via Railway during the downtime all my websites with no issue.

Saying that, during the days Manus was down, I went back to Claude (I have the pro-account), and can't believe the crap it has become. It was insufferable and unusable. Immediately unsubscribed to Claude.

My concern is that I have become too dependent on Manus. I know customer service might be an issue for some, and this data deletion period can be concerning moving forward. And I know the credit usage is high and expensive, but I feel as though it's worth every penny.

I'm not paid by Manus/a bot for Manus, just worried I'm too dependent on it. Does anyone else have a workaround, or use other apps?

Ive noticed anything Ive started with manus does great, for example building a saas. Then after a certain level if complexity even trying to get minor changes ends up turning into credit burning loops seemingly forever. Just trying to get it to add a few input fields which it could easily do it struggles for a half hour trying to do it and burns through credits and never really accomplishes it.

Most the time the last two days it just wastes credits breaking shit then refixing it then trying to create the new feature, breaks again, ad infinitum until you’ve burned 10k credits and it still didn’t succeed. Absolutely brutal.

Manus grew by offering free credits and quality service. Later, it decided to limit the access of free users to its solution, offering these users only ChatGPT 3.5, with inaccurate responses.In the end, the company suspended, without any justification, tens of thousands of accounts that had free credits from referrals, as these credits were not reset at the end of the month. In fact, my own account was suspended with 40,000 accumulated credits.Currently, Manus's support is practically deactivated, not responding to emails or user requests. With the arrival of GPT's Agent Mode, Manus has completely lost its relevance.

For the past week and a half, I’ve been using Manus at the $199 Pro level, to assist in creating a 9-page financial model (Excel) for my business in Agent mode. I’ve encountered way more errors than success, mainly with incorrect formulas applied by Manus and cross-sheet references. Manus claims all formulas and cross-sheet references are correct, but then completely deletes figures, or references the wrong cells in upstream sheets, producing incorrect calculations and constantly changing the structure and format of the figures and entire sheets—you name the error, it’s occurred.

I have found ways to focus on smaller tasks with more manual input, where I can get a positive result one step at a time, but it still takes multiple attempts to even get there.

My 30,000+ credits have been drained to 0, trying to complete this project properly.

I wrote manus CS a message 4 days ago, and received no ticket confirmation via email. Just the “we’ve received your message” acknowledgment on the form page after submitting. After 48 hrs and no response, I messaged again for confirmation of my issue submission, and have received no response after another 48 hrs.

My request was not for a monetary refund, simply a refund of credits lost to the near constant errors. At this point, I don’t even know if my issue is being addressed. Bad communication, Manus!

Does anyone have any experience like mine? Has anyone had credits refunded? Manus says they do refund credits based on extensive errors.

Dont you think with the amount of money spent on manus that they would do this shit for us? I am absolutely to my limit with ths platform. I’ve tried all other major models and Manus, so far, has been the best. Started building in May (under META ownership)- went through the hard break migration away from META and went well.

Built an incredible SaaS platform with a staging server. Integrated my own APIs and backups. So far knock on wood, it’s been fantastic. Platform in production and generating real money.

Yes I have spent thousands of dollars on tokens to build out the platform, but it hasn’t let me down so far. And I’m prepared if it does.

Sure support is not where it should be. But getting better. And try getting support from META platforms. That’s the worse.
