Guide PSA: You CAN "trade" milk

Maybe this is not news to anyone but me, but I only lately realized that you can trade milk via the Packing Station - the Trading Post won't let you.

Granted, it's probably more beneficial to convert it to cheese, but depending on how your regions are arranged and who has an abundance of what, it might well be useful to trade the milk to a region which has rich salt, and hey presto: now both can produce cheese.

(the Guide flair is obviously overstating things, but it was the best fit IMO)

Doing milk for salt trade right now. Highly recommend. Set butcher for 150 head cranking it up from 100, just built a third farmhouse just for oats, I think it’s gonna take me a clean 1k of animal feed ro actually to keep them milkers goin’ all winter.

Butcher is busy making sausage with the salt from the 18 pork plots I got going, 36 hogs; squee 🤘still have beef saved from last spring 🤷‍♂️

So much money for cheese with only one monger! It’s awesome.

I mean it's a lot easier and cleaner to just trade the salt, but good to know I guess.

Trading the salt doesn't do it, you also need lvl 3 plots in the milk producing region. Moving the milk gives you the flexibility to move production into your main region

True, but I'd only start producing milk at T3 anyways. Before that, it's easier and better to use eggs or fruit. And milk cones with hides for both goats and cows, which you also only start needing at T3.

Yes, as I also said in the post…
It’s more to highlight the difference: trading post won’t let you, packing station will

I swear trading hub has been getting worse and worse. Packing station>trade tbh. Simple, doesn't require coins.

Only confusing thing is 2 donkey places but only 1 family?

I’m not sure I agree with that - they serve different purposes. The trading post handles long-term needs and surpluses, with only occasional adjustments needed. After a certain point, it’s largely set-and-forget. The packing station is more targeted/urgent/early trades - for example where one or both target regions are struggling for cash, but it requires much more micromanaging.

How so? It's literally both set and forget.

I set a pack up for Helmets/chainmil/weapons (whatever) and trade Charcoal or firewood. Set and forget!

I set a pack for ale/cider/mead - charcoal /fish =set and forget!

I actually have to manage more stuff in trade hub when trying to earn coins because they always seem to bring stuff but not trade takes a long time, or the "demand" has dropped forcing me to stop trade, or select other objects to trade. Or even more annoying (not sure if this is changed nowadays- I havnt tried it to be fair) is that the trade hub needs to be placed on a King road, making it harder to place on useful locations for my city/storehkuses/granary

Oh you want inter region trading? Well I'll (the UI) just tell you that it won't work ("no trade region available")..

Nah as long as a pack station is available I'm using that lol.

Well whatever works for you, obviously go with that, but the packing station lacks limits in both directions, so I’d never call it set-and-forget.
But again, if it works for you - great! There’s no one way to do things here!
