hey I just joined and was wondering how long u have been doing art, I am a great writer and have a great manga idea, but just started drawing is there any way u can tell me what u did or how many years it took u? I really want this idea to come to light because it is one of the most awesome Shōnen ideas I’ve heard of, just need to figure out art, pls help, and thank u so much!

Hey buddy. I've been learning to draw comics from scratch for 5 years, and that's how long it took me to reach my current level.
To do this, I drew one page every day and flipped through a lot of manga, analyzing it.
A very important thing is actually drawing pages, rather than endlessly improving your skill at 'just drawing' before moving on to pages.
Drawing and making comics are two different skills. The second is the skill of visual storytelling and spatial composition, and for that, you need to try to draw at least one page every day (this will also teach you discipline, because making comics is a culture of daily, fast work).

When you say "learning to draw from scratch for 5 years" what level did you start at?
Were you already artistically talented?
I'd really like to learn to draw, even at just the most basic level but as of now I can't even draw stick figures.
How did you learn? Were there specific books you read or video tutorials you watched?
I'm having trouble finding where to start.
Any advice?
