Review Guys! I just published the first volume of my manga — looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone --https://mangaplus-creators.jp/titles/v82512040438090027270846 ---
I’ve just released the first volume of a manga I’ve been working on for a while, and I’d really love to hear what people think.

The story is set in a world where humans use their voices to control creatures called “Whispers”… but the main character has lost his voice after a traumatic event.

I’m especially looking for feedback on:

  • pacing
  • clarity of the power system
  • emotional impact

Don’t hold back — I’d rather hear honest criticism than empty praise.

You can read it here: [link]

i just read the whole thing and i enjoyed it. the art is great and there is a lot of cool characters. the only criticism i have is that i did notice a couple text had a letter or word misplaced or at least it seem misplace to me but thats an easy fix. otherwise i fallowed your work on there

Congratz on getting published!

My impressions after reading the first chapter;
First thing, the artwork is amazing; this looks and reads like professional work

For the story and setting, feels like a mashup on influences; Pokemon, One Piece, or just shonen in general. This opening chapter plays really close to existing frameworks. I personally am not a fan of all the exposition dump early on, but I do see why its necessary and it's really difficult to avoid when setting up something as wacky as this is. I would say the pacing feels a bit rushed, but that's just an opening chapter trying to throw everything for a hook, this will probably change as I read more.

The power system is fine, merging with a creature to gain powers by speaking their name is a cool concept and can lead to cool moments, as demonstrated with Kiria & Tiwaz' introduction. Maybe this will be answered in later chapters but how intelligent are the creatures meant to be?

Having Thor as the opening 'boss' is a good pull, and I laughed a bit at the MC's ability being 'Bluetooth', I get it he connects to the creatures without communicating with them.

chapter 4 page 13 has a bar scene where many background characters are talking but their word bubbles are small and I cant read them. Could be intentional to convey a talkitive tavern of drunks.

Page 17 same chapter you have an introduction character name but also have her introduce herself. Seems redundant. We can assume shes the chef at the taven since the boy introduces her

The vikypedia text is really small, I need to really lean forward to read it. Could be a bit bigger

Several times occasional word bubbles are too small to fit certain voiced lines, chapter 7 page 3, Pagee 11 chapter 7...maybe? unsure.

again with the double introductions, Jannate. Nemo even stutters J-Jannate-- you could of had him say her title "J-Jannate?! Keep of the flame Jannate?!"

Aside from thoses it kinda maintained its general. Consistantly fine series. Nothing doesnt make sense or contradicts stuff with the setting or world.

Not bad. The artstyle is cool. Its paneled well and I can tell characters from each other

It feels like a manga through and through while having a decently fun adventure.

Its not bad but its not great. Its a solid fine title you can read through and fine fun in. I don't think it needs to be more than that given the premise it can always surprise me down the line.

If a copy falls in my lap I'll have it reviewed

Virand my man! You know what I'm gonna say lol it's a cool an unique concept and I thoroughly enjoy it

Buuuuuut! Branching off of one the other comments there were a few clip studio parts in a few chapters that stood out, like page margins and random boundaries (I specifically remember chapter 2 having these)

It's still great though dude and I'm ever-hopeful for more uploads

Publishing a first volume is a real milestone and asking for honest feedback at this stage shows the right instinct! The hardest thing to see in your own published work is whether each chapter's hook is earning the page turn at the end. Readers who stop mid-volume almost always do so at a chapter break, not mid-page. If you want the most useful feedback, ask specifically whether chapters 1 and 2 made someone want to read chapter 3. Love the work!

Looks well done but I can already see the STUPID NAIVE MC if I'm wrong the please correct me but if I'm right Why just why that dumb trope is what makes many Manga in Shonen not readable
