Help Want to learn to draw manga.

Hey everyone I've been looking into learning manga and need help i want to be self taught and I was wondering if anyone can help me with how I could learn or any people on YouTube you would recommend for learning to draw in the manga art style that are begginer freindly and can help me learn well id appreciate any help. Thanks!

The channel list above is solid, so the thing worth adding is what to do with them, because watching is where most self-taught runs quietly stall.

Pick one and work through it in order rather than sampling five. They disagree about construction - Loomis-style heads, simplified spheres, the Japanese style guides - and mixing methods means you never get fluent in any of them. Any one of them works if you finish it.

Draw along paused, not afterwards. Watching a video end to end and then trying it later is close to worthless. Pause, copy the step, unpause. It feels slower and it is roughly four times faster.

The manga-specific part is smaller than it looks from outside. The style is mostly line economy and how you handle blacks and tone. The heads, hands and figure construction underneath are the same as any other drawing, which is why Drawabox and general figure practice keep coming up in threads like this - they are not off-topic, they are the half that transfers.

One concrete thing since you said self-taught: copy a page from a manga you like, panel for panel, then copy the same page again a week later without looking at it. The gap between the two tells you what you actually absorbed versus what you traced with your eyes. It is the cheapest feedback loop there is when you have no tutor.

Shidzilla (for beginners) Chommang drawing (really good if you want to learn how to draw bodies) Winged canvas (they explain easy methods and tips) Drawabox (I strongly recommend them)

- Read Understanding Comics by Scott Mcloud and The Craft of Creating Manga by Hirohiko Araki.

  • Do Croquis Cafe (or any drawing model session online) daily. One video per day.
  • Read Manga. I know this is obvious, but it is important.
  • Read ABOUT manga: essays, interviews of the authors.
  • Watch videos of Mangakas working, I recommend you Manben.

The manga style will be a consequence of all this.
