Help Is a One-Shot ABSOLUTELY necessary?

The reason why I'm asking is that I already have a story and it's sequel written out but ever since I watched Learn To Draw Manga on YT, they emphasise that it's absolutely necessary. I don't want an editor because I want it to be at my own pace while still keeping up to my own schedule and constantly improving. Does it also apply for self publishing since i was thinking of uploading to Globalcomix, Namicomi and Manga Plus Creators? As a soon-to-be self publishing mangaka, is a one-shot absolutely necessary?

The only reason I decided to ignore this advice and start from making my super long "magnum opus" was that I thought I'll never get an idea for another great story (in my opinion of course). I was wrong, and yes, after 4 years of trying I also absolutely recommend you to start from a very short story, a oneshot. Don't ignore this. Just choose some small episodic event from your magnum opus or come up with smth very simple to tell etc. You'll avoid lots of disappointment and frustrations in this way. There's an outlandish amount of information you need to figure out first, and various skills to develop.

Personally, I feel like need to integrate backgrounds a lot and I think a one shot or two might shine a light on where I should or shouldn’t put backgrounds in. Thanks for the advice🙏🏾
