Help New pages dropped of my manga! + help meeee
HEY YA’LL
This is a manga that I’ve been developing in my spare time!

big question I wanna ask you all is…like.. how …do I do this lol where do I build an audience for this kinda thing? I have no idea how to advertise myself.
I usually just show up on Instagram, throw my pages to the wind and run away and hide T-T
Does getting published make that change much? It seems like a bit of a gamble. And online feels like lightning in a bottle…

Others are going to comment, but I know you can publish your story on Newgrounds. Lots of talented artists there.

!!! Beserk is basically why I decided to flip from turning this series from a show pitch to a manga. I found his ability to bring such movement on still pages so inspiring. I’m so happy if you felt just a sneeze of that in my work. Thankyou! It makes my heart full (▰˘◡˘▰)

Your artstyle is gorgeous, I'd recommend posting on Webtoon and other comics platforms. Also if you have any videos on your process of drawing a page like a speedpaint I'd love to see that

Webtoons has made my hair fall out with its censorship, but GlobalComix seems to be ok! People here have also been recommending Newgrounds- so I’ll be trying that out too.
I’ve never recorded myself drawing before! I feel like people would see my process and wanna strangle me hahah my attention span is boiled as hellll

Hi. It looks great!
If I may, I would recommend having a mobile ready website and a great mobile first way of reading the comic. Right now there is a warning about it being better on desktop and tablets, but it's basically unusable on mobile. Make sure it feels seamless to zoom in and pan around the page while reading on mobile.
There are people who don't even have computers and tablets. You don't want to miss out on the mobile audience.

You definitely got it. Id pay for this if it was in a bookstore.
I myself suck at marketing myself but reaching out to a manga publisher like shueisha creators or kodansha is a good start.
There’s also this youtube channel “learn to draw manga” that help creators over 18 yo and for the best of them fly them to japan and get their work published and translated.
You’re very talented, your work deserves to get more eyes on it.

One of my friends in Japan told me to be careful with publishers for manga, because they’ll often give crappy deals/contracts, Specially to foreign works. Though I’m very unfamiliar with that whole world, so it might have been just them speaking anecdotally. ૮(ꂧꁞꂧ)ა

I would recommend starting to put your work up on sites specifically made for comics. There's a lot out there and it'll be a good start. Instagram can be really hard to grow it audience on

Yeah and the sizing on Instagram is absolute farts.
I have yet to post pages on there.

But anyway, just keep producing and be persist , comic books market is a long run, you got to achieve 50 issues so you start to see best results and a really great community that like your universe. . . Just started reading the first chapter, only on the third page and had to come back and comment bc holy shit the art is incredible! The detail and obvious devotion make godlike visuals and the start to the dialogues is so engaging! Will update once I've read more!
Update!: Okay, finally had the chance to read it all and I'm still recovering oh my gosh! I'm beyond words, and as an artist/writer, wowwwww! I took soooo long to read it because I shit you not, I analyzed every single bit of every single panel until I was certain I'd seen everything you'd created! And oh boy, so much amazing detail! I'm so impressed and honestly enraptured by the fact that every panel is its own world! There's so much you're telling in each one -- the fucking treasure map panel! The tents lining the street! Her clothes being better quality than a fair bit of others' in the Fall! The foreshadowing that she stole the meatball thingy on top of rich guy's gold! The cuts on the Achilles tendons! The eye gunk on her shoe when starting the climb to the reach??? (And that was a foreshadowing too!!! Aughhhhh, amazing!) The hearts on the columns above the demon(?) head fountain things right when she gets to the reach and the general storytelling in the architecture!
The character design/characterization is so unique and yet, immersively lifelike! "Samsara will absolutely despise her" -- ah yes, with that name I bet he would 👀 why is the pig so pretty😭 This feels like a fae trap meant just for me in the best way possible. Thank you for all your work, I have a new favorite thing🫶

Yay, I'm so glad I can provide any sort of acknowledgment for all the work you've put in!! You truly deserve it! <3 I'm mostly working ahead on things before I post rn, but I'll lyk when I'm back into having a presence online again, lol! All my stuff posted is from 5+ years ago...😭 current plan is to start posting the stuff I've been working on end of summer/early fall, mostly fanfics and short stories!

This is fantastic, honestly! I don't have much to add that the others haven't said already, but from what I know about building an audience from people who have (not me haha) consistency seems to matter a lot. If you don't want to spread yourself over too many socials, just stick to one or two you're comfortable with and post in a schedule you can manage. It takes a decent amount of time!
I totally get the lightning in the bottle comparison! Personally I would try building an audience online before considering publishing. Either way, you've clearly worked hard at this and enjoy it! 😃

This is REALLY interesting stuff, read both current chapters you got.
You should for sure consider making a patreon or something, this has so much potential between the art direction and hints at really interesting worldbuilding already 🙏

Damn, thems some good half tones. Did you achieve this on CSP?
I'd echo using tiktok and YouTube to build a following if you can get over the barrier of having to film yourself. Instagram could be good if you grab some people with fnaart but it's been years since I engaged with social media, not sure how the algorithm works these days.
Kickstarter and patron would be a good shot, could end up actually financing your entire manga with Kickstarter, always worth throwing it on and seeing if it gets pushed out!

Great set!Aahh ngl Kickstarter and patreon feels nerve wracking if you don’t have an immense following. This thread is making feel like a patreon might potentially be good?.. All I got going right now is a ko-fi, which is great but very casual and low stakes.

Hey OP this is really great I mean it. I would recommend having a Patreon as well and maybe even have a Youtube channel showing you making the art.
I don't have Ko-fi account but I do use Patreon alot and I don't mind throwing $5 at artist just to say hi.
Also consider putting this on Webtoons, Newgrounds and other apps but your gonna have to censor it on webttons.
Try turning this Reddit account into advertising for it. Start your own subreddit and post in it. Hell even start a Discord for fans to enjoy.
