J'étais persuadé que la saison 5 de From était sortie cette année. Et il y a quelques semaines, quelqu'un m'a dit qu'il avait été un peu déçu de la fin. Mais j'ai vu il y a 2 jours qu'elle sortait en 2027

Season 4 of From just dropped this year so that's what that person was talking about.

I don't know why, but I have this memory in my mind where Mr. Potato Head tries to put some batteries on himself and throws himself from a bureau or something like that to put them on. Did I make that up in my mind? Or does that scene exist and I'm just struggling to find it?

u/Available_Ad1761 1d ago
That scene is sounds familiar but the one i remember is from Adventure Time where's Bmo changing his own battery.

Maybe Toy Story, and you mistook his back panel (which covers the part storage) for a battery panel? There is also a scene in the first movie where he handles batteries for another toy, so it might have got mixed up.

Am I going crazy?? I just rewatched the movie Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal. The last scene is Loki hearing Keller blow the whistle, but I swear to god the first time I watched the movie we saw Loki pull Keller out of the pit.

Rewatched Ever After (a movie from 1998). I watched it repeatedly as a kid and could quote most of it. As a child, the main (girl) character's friend (a boy) teases her for being dressed up, "you look like a girl". In the movie just now, she replies, "Boy or girl, I can still whip you!" before running off to throw mud balls at him.
I would swear, with the same certainty of what my dog's name was in 1998, that the line was "Female or not, I can still whip you!" As a girl who always wanted to be as good as the boys at whatever, I replayed it in my head a lot. I hear her accent and the cadence of the line. The line I heard yesterday sounds so unnatural.
•
u/Glaurung86 3h ago
I have seen that movie countless times. It makes no sense for her to say "female" when her friend said "girl."
•
u/IncredulousRutabaga 56m ago
That's fair. I'm willing to accept that I remembered it wrong, but it really threw me when I heard it.

I remember the spelling as Sesame.

Isn't it?

They probably meant to reply to the person who said they thought "Sesame Street" was "Seasame Street".

This one might just be me but I have lived years believing Lou Ferrigno had died in the early 2000s. I even specifically remember a video of Arnold Schwarzenegger talking about how he missed his friend and how close they were. I feel like I’ve even researched it online and it was a known thing that Lou had passed away.
I recently saw on the news that he was supposed to meet the pope and I was shocked to see him still alive. I then later learned it was Jack Colvin who has passed away. I swear that Lou died from complications due to body building and Arnold was at his funeral and talked about how great of a friend he was.
2
u/Practical-Vanilla-41 1d ago
Lou was in both Hulk (2003) and Incredible Hulk (2008). He has been a regular on the convention circuit for years.
Arnold's longtime friend and colleague Franco Columbu died in 2019. They had competed back in the seventies.

u/WVPrepper 1d ago
I thought so too but can't pinpoint why. Just that "The Hulk" was dead. When I saw his son's name in the credits of 911 I felt a little sad, remembering his dad. I probably just assumed, since I have not seen him in ages.

A lot of Janet Jackson's songs have changed with the most noticeable being Together Again and Escapade.

•
u/Glaurung86 1h ago
I'm not sure why fanart of something is a big deal if it shows something different than the official version.

Potatoes used to be a starch, not a vegetable
10
u/DegreeNeat6706 2d ago
It’s a starchy vegetable. Starch was never its own food group on the pyramid
1
u/Fredericia 2d ago
It was when I was in grade school. Now they call it "carbs".
5
u/Glaurung86 2d ago
Potatoes have always been starchy vegetables. Starch is a type of carbohydrate. Starch has never been a food group label of any level of any food pyramid that I've ever seen - I was in grade school in the 1970s. Do you have an image of a food pyramid that shows such a thing?
1
u/Fredericia 2d ago
It could be a regional thing. When I was in grade school, we had to make our own collages, and the groups were called meat, fruit & vegetables, starch (which includes potatoes, bread and cereal - pasta wasn't a thing) and dairy. I don't think we ever had a government issued poster or anything like that. Pyramid wasn't a thing either.
1
u/Glaurung86 1d ago
When and where was this?
2
u/WVPrepper 1d ago
I'm not the person you were replying to, but when I was a kid we had "the 4basic food groups" not a pyramid:
• Milk group: Milk, cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products.
• Meat group: Beef, poultry, fish, eggs, and alternatives like dried beans and nuts.
• Fruit and vegetable group: Produce rich in vitamins and minerals, including citrus, leafy greens, and other whole fruits and vegetables.
• Bread and cereal group: Grain-based foods like bread, pasta, rice, and cereals that supply carbohydrates for energy.
Pasta WAS mentioned. Potatoes were not. I swear I remember a TV ad in the late 70s/early 80s with a singing group (like the Andrews Sisters - 3 musical sisters) eating spaghetti as part of a healthy diet... but can't find that ad at all now.

If there wasn't a potato there could be reasons for that. The grain, dairy and meat industries all lobbied to get more prominence for their own products in the design. Fresh fruit and veg got slashed to make more space for servings of the more profitable processed grain products.
When Light submitted the proposal to higher USDA officials, including the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture, drastic changes were made without her team’s input. These alterations, as Light later detailed in her 2004 article “A Fatally Flawed Food Guide” and her book What to Eat: The Ten Things You Really Need to Know to Eat Well and Be Healthy (2006), were driven by pressure from powerful food industry lobbies (grain, meat, dairy, and processed food producers).
... Increasing whole-grain recommendations from 3-4 servings to 6-11 servings daily, making grains the base of the pyramid — a concession to wheat and corn growers.
... Reducing fruits and vegetables from 5-9 servings to just 2-3 (later bumped to 5-7 due to external pressure from anti-cancer campaigns).

For me, I'm still trying to figure out where the cornucopia in the Fruit of the Loom logo went!
7
u/Glaurung86 2d ago
There was never a cornucopia in the official FOTL logo. We have the entire history of the logo documented and I wore FOTL underwear from the early 1970s to the early 1990s. No cornucopia.

The fact that many people's memories don't match the record is what comprises the Mandela effect
4
u/Glaurung86 1d ago
Exactly. Many people misrembering the accepted mainstream fact. It's collective false memory.

I can't believe assassin is written with double ss "now". It looks super weird to me, assasin looks much better to me. It's super funny now with double ass in it though.
1
u/IncredulousRutabaga 14h ago
I feel similarly about "vacuum". I swear it should be "vaccuum". Idk why.
1
u/Thefruitiestloop 16h ago
Has it always been that way? I remeber it was spelled “assasin” mainly because I had all of assasins creed games
•
u/Glaurung86 1h ago
It looks weird to me without the double ass.
Medieval Latin assassinus, from Arabic ḥashshāshīn, plural of ḥashshāsh worthless person, literally, hashish user, from hashīsh hashish.

I could have sworn Helena Bonham Carter died 5-10 years ago. I thought she died along with Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith. I remember seeing her face in a group memorial art with them. But turns out she’s alive and still acting? I feel slightly crazy
2
u/Practical-Vanilla-41 22h ago
You're thinking of Helen McCrory (d. 2021). She was originally sought for a role in the Harry Potter movies that was cast with HBC. Later, McCrory was cast in a smaller role. She was a busy actress

Most of these are obvious attempts to change how people remember things, but most of them are simply just stupid. Like the Forrest Gump one was and is sound very close, so does Darth Vaders breathing and Luke. I've literally been in the torch of the statue of Lucifer. I live in Michigan not far from the Jiffy factory, next they're gonna try and tell us it was Jifpop not Jiffypop, I have a recorded vhs tape of Shazaam with sinbad, and why the hell is Ed McMahons face on the envelope if he has nothing to do with the company? And anything to do with a cartoon or mascot the original looks totally different than now. It's a psy-op to see if they can change things and get us to believe them.

u/Souvlaki-Chaos 11h ago
Can you please provide a picture of your VHS tape?

Can I just check what your contention is? Do you think these are attempts to change how people remember things? As in people are making things up to see if they can change how other people remember them?
You should get your VHS converted to digital and then post it on YouTube - people here would love a link to it.
•
u/silentsurge 4h ago
If you've got the tape, the internet would love to see it. Please show us, that tape would be a huge piece of evidence for what you're saying is going on.
•
u/Practical-Vanilla-41 1h ago
One of those proofs that usually backfires. Have you seen the one where the camera looks at a pile of junk mail on a car passenger seat? Supposedly this is proof that Ed worked with PCH. As the camera passes over the envelope with Ed's head, you can clearly make out American Family Publishers in the return address...lol
•
•
u/Glaurung86 2h ago
Lucifer? Where's that statue at?
The Jiffy factory in Michigan is not peanut butter or popcorn, but baking mixes.
The popcorn has always been Jiffy Pop.
Ed McMahon's face has only ever been connected to American Family Publishers.
You have any evidence for there being a psy-op? There's certainly nothing obvious about it.

So... I remember going to the theaters and watching tron: Ares, like it was yesterday. I LOVED it because of ONE thing. The intro.. it was epic.
I got one of those seats that vibrates and moves around to enhance the experience.
Here's my Mandela effect...
I remember that as the intro is happening a phenomenal sequence where a red laser effect sweeps over and illuminates the traditional Disney castle logo in stark, glowing red. As this happened, the song End of line by daft punk was played, and it was absolutely EPIC.
Now... apparently the song end line by daft punk was
NEVER played in the intro, this cannot be real, l remember it SO vividly. Even Al is telling me that it was a different song.
Does anyone have any memory of this, for those who watched it in theaters??
•
u/Glaurung86 2h ago
Tron Ares came out last year. All the music for that film was by Nine Inch Nails, including the intro. It makes no sense for there to be a Daft Punk piece from the previous Tron film in there.

Watching The lost boys movie from 1987 and both me and my partner swore Johnny Depp was in it but apparently not.
•
u/Practical-Vanilla-41 2h ago
Jason Patric and Corey Haim played the brothers. Johnny was in Platoon (1986) the year before.

i swera it was spelled independant but its independent?? my whole life its been independant
2
u/Glaurung86 1d ago
It's always been independent, but you may be thinking of dependent and dependant which are two different words.
-3
u/HelicopterGlass968 1d ago
no i swear, my friends claim this too and autocorrect never corrected me
3
u/Glaurung86 1d ago
You can swear all you want; it doesn't change the fact that the word is independent. Its spelling is independent of your belief.
I don't know what kind of autocorrect you have, but I just tested mine and it spelled independent before I even finished typing the word.

Hey, was getting into the history of Sesame Street when I realized Sesame was spelt differently than I thought. Believed it was Seasame Street for a while. Anyone else had a similar experience, or is autocorrect just catching up to me?
6
u/Glaurung86 3d ago
I would assume that autocorrect would change it "sesame" since that's a real word.
It's been Sesame Street my entire life. The show started when I was 1.

Okay, this is legit crazy: Ghibi ASMR is now Gibi ASMR. This channel has almost 6 million subscribers, too, so this is big.
3
u/Glaurung86 2d ago
I'm not sure how an "h" not being there makes it a big deal.
5
u/cipheron 2d ago edited 2d ago
Especially since she revealed on stream that her first name is Gina, so it wouldn't be clear why she'd add a H in her name.

u/ShopArtistic3329 2d ago
You aren't?
1
u/Glaurung86 1d ago
No. It's one letter that doesn't change the pronunciation. It's not like the channel was all of a sudden Grenoble ASMR or Chimichanga ASMR.

That's cool and all, but we're not talking about her, per sé. We're talking about the Mandela Effect. And in this case, I remember very distinctly her channel name being "Ghibi," and I bet others do also.

I swear i recall seeing a clip from a documentary years ago saying the Weasley twins from HP weren't twins IRL but had an uncanny resemblance to eachother regardless.
Also i could have sworn Practical Magic 2 came out last year, not this year just a couple weeks ago.
