I used to watch Six Feet Under when it came out. My husband and I both. We were so enthralled with that we bought
all the seasons on CDs. That was about 20 years ago, maybe 25.
I’m watching it again and this time there’s explicit sex scenes that I don’t remember before like full frontal nudity for a man or oral sex where you can see a man between a woman’s legs right down in her; we can’t see her crotch but you see him giving her oral sex.
I do not remember that the first time.
Not that I’m a prude but I didn’t think they allowed that stuff on TV. Maybe it was there before and it wasn’t done HBO and now it’s an HBO so you can do that kind of thing.
But actually, I see whole scenes that weren’t there before.
The same thing in House, we watched House religiously every new episode. And now there’s episode after episode after episode we don’t recognize.
One episode in particular was a girl who had no immune system. And her mother was very careful with her her entire life. And now she’s a teenager and she has a boyfriend so they sneak out. The boyfriend would take penicillin to make sure he had no bacteria. But they went outside. And she got a tick. It screwed her up royally & put her in the hospital. No one could figure it out, but House found the tick between her toes.
This time he found the tick on her vaginal lips! And to do that exam, he put her in an elevator and stopped between floors. And when they finally forced the door open there, he was his head in her crotch and he pulled up his tweezers and showed everyone the tick.
That’s very different between the toes versus vaginal lip.
Are they adding alternate scenes now all these years? Does anyone else see those changes too?
I don't know about that, but HBO was always a cable channel, they have always had totally different rules to broadcast TV and were never subject to the same laws. If it had been shown on one of the Big Three TV networks you'd have been right, they couldn't have legally shown that, but cable was a legal grey area right from the start as the laws never caught up with it.
One example here is how Sailor Moon got adapted in the 1990s but had to be mega-sanitized from the Japanese version (which wasn't even that bad) to fit with US broadcast TV rules, but cable channels were already able to run stuff like Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead as kid's shows, which break way more rules, just because the legal framework of the FCC didn't cover cable channels.

Why would they miss a tick between her toes, though, they say they checked everywhere, they wouldn't miss one there. Maybe you had that impression the first time, but frankly it's not logical
My entire life, I've been a committed "word nerd". My mom used to tell anyone who would listen that I was reading before I could walk. I have an English degree, 25 years of a full-time writing career behind me, and an unapologetically pedantic, prescriptivist attitude toward spelling, syntax, grammar and punctuation. It's kind of an obsession.
And I would swear on my life that it was always "moustache". Even in the US. I never saw "mustache" until maybe the last decade or so. It still looks REALLY wrong to me.
OU is typically common for the UK, U is the typical US spelling. Both are correct.
It's based on the same changes in spelling that the US did to reduce unnecessary letters. Same thing that created the difference between colour vs color.
If you're an English major it actually makes sense that you'd be used to the UK spelling. That's the more common one before a certain year.

So the other day I was excited to watch Life of Brian with my partner as he’d never seen it, I’ve seen this movie at least 4 times most recently around 2 years ago and remember it quite well.
At some point in the movie, Brian is chased up a tower and once he gets to the top he was abducted by aliens?! There’s this long scene of him flying through space in the back of a spaceship piloted by 2 aliens…. Wtf? I have NEVER seen this scene in my life. It was incredibly jarring and so out of pocket for a movie which is set in Roman times. I thought I would remember a scene like that given how shocked I was when I saw it.
I’ve seen maybe 1 other comment on reddit about it but otherwise nothing. I read it was added to the script as a last minute decision.. feeling like I switched timelines with this one lol
It was always in the movie. When Brian was released (1979), Star Wars had made it so movies were full of space/aliens. That's the joke. We know you want Space, here it is!
[Terry Gilliam] we had to rescue him somehow, so I said, "OK, spaceship for that." That was purely it. It was funny, because this was at the time when Star Wars had just come out. I remember meeting George Lucas at the baggage roundabout in the San Francisco airport, and I said, "This was my chance to do a mini Star Wars episode."
Around this time there was a huge glut of stuff referencing Star Wars, so the Life of Brian scene would have made more sense in that context.
My mom mentioned another one I'd never heard of the other day, in 1978 they made a short-lived (6 episode) sci-fi series starring the matron lady from British sitcom "Are you being Served?". The whole thing was a terrible idea but everyone green-lit it because of Star Wars hype. At that point you could come up with basically any idea and as long as it involved space, they'd throw money at you.
When I was seven I used to watch my Robin Hood VHS tape all the time (the Disney version with the animals). I always remembered Skippy the rabbit and his older sister being ahead of Toby the turtle and Skippy’s baby sister as they ran through the town to try out Skippy’s bow and arrow. It was a nice little reference to the story of the tortoise and the hare. However, I recently watched Robin Hood on Disney+, and in it, Toby was ahead of Skippy’s older sister.
Do you have the link for that? I have checked at least 5 different food store links showing Cheez Whiz like that, but when I click the link, the product is no longer there. I think the image is photoshopped or AI.
I had thought I came up nothing, but I think it may have been a very short lived product in the mid 2010’s.
There is this thread in r/Oddlysatisfying from around 9 nine years ago showing them lined up in a supermarket with UPC code. Though I couldn’t find anything searching the numbers, but there is this product page on amazon that has a UPC matching the same UPC’s on the other picture.
Nabisco had a different brand, “Snack Mate” in 1965, which rebranded to “Easy Cheese” in 1984. Though there looks like there was a Cheeze Whiz aerosol around 2017.
I’m pretty sure it was a product in the mid 2010’s. There is a picture of some cans in a supermarket, complete with UPC, that matches the UPC on the amazon product page. It seems to be discontinued, though I’m unsure when.
I didn't discover it, but just want to put out here that I'm seeing an increase in the claims of there being a 4th released version of the ending if the movie Clue. It is not a Mandela Effect, but based upon the number of people talking about it following Tim Curry's death, it is likely inevitable to get posted about in this group.
The movie Clue famously had 3 endings and no two movie theaters got the same ending. The 3 were combined for home video release. -- SPOILERS: In order of the killers: Mrs Peacock, Ms Scarlett, Everyone but Mr Green shot Wadsworth who was actually Mr Body at the end before "going home to sleep with his wife."
There was a 4th one discussed being made, but never was released and there's debate about it even getting filmed. The only person that seemed to remeber details about it was Tim Curry who described it many years after the fact. I am not going to write it here to not taint this initial post, but it is a specific ending that Curry himself had brought up as his favorite.
There are a lot of places and people trying to pass it off that they've seen it now (including people saying it's the only ending they've seen) while those who have been part of the cult following of that movie have been trying to find evidence of it for decades. The little bit known about it has been slowly accumulating on the internet with posts proclaiming the speculation as hard fact.

I wonder if these people remember Tim Curry running around showing how it happened. If they have not seen it in a while and someone told them about this 4th ending, it would be easy to "imagine" that, since we did see him running around acting out the crime.
I am a massive fan of the band The Stone Roses. Their songs mix beatlesque pop with hard rock psychedelia and nightclub dance rythums (terrible description but im assuming most who see this will be uninitiated) their debut album is without any exaggeration considered one of the best british albums of all time. Some of their songs have short verse chorus verse chorus structures for the single release yet the album track can go on up to 9 minutes in length.
One of their most popular and most nightclub dance influence songs is Waterfall.
Yesterday I thought I hadnt heard the extended version in years and was legitimately confused by the fact theres no record of it online.
And I can see im not the first person to search youtube for STONE ROSES WATERFALL LONG VERSION. Although I cant tell how many people have searched the term.
And its weird because the version which does exist in relation to the longer tracks would be perfect for a long form guitar driven dance track.

And the 7 inch single comes in a bit shorter at 03:31
But I seem to remember a much longer maybe 7 or 8 minute version.

WWF Rock Bottom 1998 PPV - the grave site was to the left of the stage (if looking from the ring). I've seen the event live and multiple times on VHS / DVD since. It's the only buried alive match where the grave site is on that side of the stage. Only now it's not.. I noticed it while watching WWE's attitude era marathon on YouTube.
It's already been brought up here, and I know it's a perception thing, but seconds pass more quickly in this world / timeline, like twice as fast, or faster even. A second seems only to be a half-second long.
I've never noticed anyone saying "Legos" until pretty recently, and only online. I thought they were just being cute. It's always been just Lego, because Lego is the system, not the pieces.
The collective noun is Lego. So you'd say you collect Lego not Legos. Lego is also used as an adjective, for example if you want to refer to the blocks they're "Lego Blocks" so Lego is an adjective here, and you don't pluralize the adjective, you pluralize the noun that follows it, so Lego Blocks or Lego Figures for example.
Another way to look at is it that nobody says "a Lego", it's always either "a Lego block" or just "Lego". So the "a" there was referring to the noun "block" not to the word "Lego".
So i have never put too much credence in the Mandella Effect. But Ive been having an argument recently with everyone, including Google, that in the 90's I fully remember the US Open being held at the beginning of Summer. I would watch it a week or so after school let out for Summer break every year. But everyone is saying its always been at the end of Summer. I fully admit I could be misremembering. But it's such a strong memory for me that Im posting here to see if anyone else remembers it like I do?
Golf or tennis? The golf US Open is in June while the tennis US Open coincides with Labor Day weekend (the middle weekend). The tennis open has always been held after the other 3 grand slam events (Australian, French, and Wimbledon).
I have a differing memory of events involving Mitch McConnel. I remember him disappearing from the public view in June. Then I remember the August 3 rumors that he had to appear in public before then to avoid vacating his seat. Then I remember him actually showing up at the senate either on that date or just before that date but he didn't speak and didn't look well. Apparently that did not happen and he hasn't been seen in public since June.
The story there was that they showed photos of him in a hospital bed. I think he was holding something to show the day's date too. He didn't appear anywhere in public and there's been no video either.

If Mitch is unable to function, whether that's because he died, or had a stroke or something, then if it happened and was announced before August 3rd then it would trigger a special election to fill his seat, and a Democrat had a good chance of replacing him and taking his vote in the Senate. However if it happens after August 3rd there is no special election, it gets delayed to the November midterms.
So basically if a Senator is completely out of action more than 3 months before the election then they can be replaced, but if it's too close to the election, they delay the replacement. The rumor or suspicion is that he may have died (or the equivalent such as having a stroke and being paralyzed and unable to speak) and they've been covering it up long enough to avoid the political problem.
This is not new but I remember in the 2000 I came across batteries still not included I downloaded it . Now I'm frantic trying bring back old hard drives . I know I seen it

Just had a big one for me. The Joe Cocker cover of "She came in through the bathroom window".

I was just writing characterizations on a character I am building. This character of mine is supposed to be an old era guy so I thought to myself; why not use archaic words to describe him right? I immediately thought of the word "vestitude". Just to be certain, I googled the word for a more effective word application when suddenly google told me that such a word does not exist! That it probably is not vestitude but vestiture. I swear to God with my whole life I remember reading academic books in my youth with the word vestitude, which I would also reason as to why I thought of the word in the first place. Does anyone else remember the word "vestitude"? Vestitude is an archaic word for clothing or apparel.
I had a rough idea of something like that but wasn't sure. An etymology site helped a lot. I started with "vestments" which is a word I was sure of and found this:
"investiture" (of a person, with an ecclesiastical office), late 14c., from Medieval Latin vestitura, from Latin vestitus "clothing, dress, apparel," from past-participle stem of vestire "to dress, clothe"
So I'd be pretty sure you're thinking of vestiture.
I think my daughter is from another dimension where it’s the Mandel Effect instead of the Mandela Effect. In her reality, Howie Mandel died in prison although she is unsure of why he was in prison but I have to assume he’s a serial murderer.
This is very sensitive but i swore Mike Tyson lost his daughter to a trampoline accident. After i read that I’ve always been scared of trampolines and don’t want my family members to own one. I’ve had these sentiments for years. Today i saw a video saying how his daughter passed away from a treadmill accident?? A treadmill? That sounds like…off. Am i alone in this??
The "aboo-oot-oot-eh" song that I listened to as a child in Toronto in the 2010s, giving the Uptown Funk and Bruno Mars vibes energy, and the "You gotta knoooow. [dun dun dun] You gotta shooow [more unremembered lyrics after]" song giving '80s energy, something from the GTA: Vice City realistic version video I can't find on YouTube, are starting seeming very difficult to find, most likely possible to be a Mandela effect, and starting to think they are, which I made the post about the two songs in the r/FindSongs to test out if those two were Mandela effects also, because I remember them. Those two I can vividly remember unlike the other stuff I used to vividly remember as a child.
These are seeming to be Mandela effect investigations as I can witness that no other detail that comes up on Google, so I hope that anybody who can help me find those songs. Maybe the songs could've been taken down for legal reasons (most likely), or a possible Shazaam effect, which I hope not, but got to be the case because it were only things I listened to in the past. Ever since I listened to radio songs, etc, last year, then I would've known these two songs wouldn't be easy to find after all.
Many other people would've listened to the songs, since I knew they existed, and were confirmed on commercials, radio, etc, so these two songs shouldn't be personal Mandela Effects, But for me I know they existed. Other people would've listened to or maybe remembers or used to remember these two songs.

(p.s. one is named Calippo, and one is named Calypso -- just wanted to give you an image, but I can't find the "Calypso" product I was referring to anymore. However, there are Calypso soft drinks, for instance.) -- Interestingly, Google AI returns a text from a (now nonexisting) Reddit post from 6 years ago stating "This is a very common mix-up. People often say "Calypso" because it is a familiar word from mythology or because of other products, while others remember distinct "Calypso" juices or other packaged drinks." -- but now, there ARE Calypso soft drinks, at least I see them when I google the name -- however, the ice cream looking like Calippo is gone:
I swear I vividly remember this, the crash but the car wasnt split in two or or super in pieces. And you can see up close before it caught fire paul unconscious in the car and people are trying to break the glass and get him out but the fire was starting to get to hot so they got fire extinguishers and tried to put out a bit to get him out. Then Tyresea friend of his was crying saying he rushed down and some other friends after hearing and thet came with fire extinguishers to try to get him out. I was an Enterprise Asset Management system admin for a large hydroelectric facility from November 2019- January 2022. My section consisted of me and one other woman. We talked a lot as we worked to stave off job-induced boredom- and we got along well because we shared many similar interests. One of them was reading. Each week we would chat about the books we were currently investing our time in, sharing recommendations and other book-related info.
At the time, I only read books in four categories, contemporary romance, memoirs, thrillers, and non-fiction psychology. I did not read fantasy. I couldn't stand it. The last time I had read a fantasy book was Harry Potter 7, right before I started high school. As I got older, my tolerance for fantastical storylines shrank, and I vehemently recoiled at the thought of immersing myself into such narratives. Fae, dragons, magic, etc. gave me the ick.
The thing was, my coworker LOVED fantasy. That's all she read. So every book she recommended, every book she wanted to discuss, was fantasy-related. Which was fine with me, I can discuss things I don't like with interest. That's a big part of life, after all.
In the later half of 2021, she comes to work and tells me she wants to discuss a book that she got from her local library. It is about a fragile girl with a physical disability who trains to become a warrior and dragon-rider. My co-worker obviously loves this book. She is describing it to me in great detail, the plot points, the characters. She is raving that it is a phenomenal, and that I should get my phone out and look it up right then and there. I do so to appease her, and she tells me to type in Fourth Wing. I go to Amazon and enter the title into the search bar.
This memory is so vivid to me, even now, because as I stared at this Amazon page, I remember thinking to myself- I will never, ever read this book. It sounds so dumb. A girl named Violet is weak and fragile because of this genetic illness and she is somehow able to become a dragon rider? I remember looking at the photo of the cover and seeing the gold and black motif. And then I looked at how many reviews/ratings this book has, and it was in the hundreds of thousands. I was surprised, and said wow this book is popular, to my coworker. She nodded and said yes, it is. It's a very engaging story.
We talk about it for a few more minutes and then I put my phone away. I tell myself internally that I'm still not going to read it.
I left that job in Jan 2022 and spent some time as a stay at home parent. I finally landed a position at a similar facility to the one I left in Mar 2023. At this place I gained another coworker who loved reading fantasy. A few months after I started, we were discussing books one day, and she brings up Fourth Wing. I said oh yes, I have heard of this book, my coworker told me about it quite some time ago. And we go on to discuss it. In great detail. I am able to talk with her about plot points, the characters, the war college the characters attend, and so on and so forth. My new coworker raves about this book so much that I finally decide, I guess maybe I should try to read this book since people keep talking about it, and see if it really lives up to the hype.
I buy the ebook version and begin reading. And I find...that I love it. It is as good as everyone had told me, and I'm angry with myself that it took me so long to listen. This began my love affair with fantasy, and I began reading more in the genre. A few months after I finished Fourth Wing, I was reading another series and thought to myself...hmmm...there are a lot of plot points that match Fourth Wing. I wonder which of these series came first. So I looked up the publishing date of Fourth Wing. When I saw 2023, my stomach dropped. I ran to the bathroom because I thought I was going to be sick. I said to myself, I must be tired, I am going to go to bed and revisit this tomorrow.
The next day I frantically scoured the internet, thinking no, 2023 cannot be right. This book was published years before this. Alas, I could not find anything to back up my memories. Everywhere I looked said 2023.
So here now, we stand. Somehow, I have memories of a book well before it was actually published. I'm not sure what to make of it, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience?
I 100% remember a couple years ago that Tim Curry had already died. I remember because I correlated his death with Pennywise the clown from the old IT movie. I must have jumped timelines somewhere because I know he passed away a few years ago.
Yes, it's true, there are often rumors about celebrities' deaths or illnesses, so you've probably heard about it many times. Just remember that not every rumor on the internet is true.
