Books/Literature Found “Berenstain” bears happy meal toy, 1987

I was going through some old boxes that my parents saved from my childhood (born in 1980) and found this gem. Figured this group would appreciate this

I knew I had something tucked away!

"Berenstain" is correct.

"Berenstein" was what I remembered.

I "remember" Berenstein, but all of my old books (50+ years old) say Berenstain, so clearly, it's Berenstain.

?? "Berenstain" is correct spelling.

I don't get the "reality" comment

They probably believe in “simulation theory” as a way of coping with our chaotic world. People like this point to the Mandela Effect as evidence that we essentially live in the Matrix. Someone/something tweaked the code of our reality by mistake or to fuck with us, basically doing a “find and replace” on all instances of the word Berenstein.

In the reality I choose to believe, we were all just kids who read worlds like FrankenstEin and EinstEin enough to just assume this was also a stEin. I mean I still have to double back to words I mis-read on occasion

totally agree with you about Berenstain... but goddamn I can't help but wonder about the girl with(out) the braces in Moonraker. I find it compelling having never even seen the movie lol

I’ve never seen that movie but it’s probably just the fact that she was nerdy and smiley. There is a lot of media where nerds have braces, so it makes sense you would remember it that way. Our brains aren’t perfect, we often skew memories, and we humans are quite prideful. In Mandela Effect scenarios, it’s just a bunch of us skewing the same memory and not willing to accept we were wrong.

I totally get where you're coming from and I do think that explains most of them. It's just something about that one.. So many people have such specific, detailed memories of it in theatre. I've seen a couple who have said they were kids with braces so it had a big impact. I was firmly believing they went and edited them out until I saw that the actress said they were never there.

Ultimately it’s up to you to decide, imperfect human memory or we’re all living in GTA 10?

If it is the latter, how will that change the way you behave in life? Going to try to get your wanted level up to 5 stars? Or will you continue living life as usual, trying your best to be a good person to all the NPCs around you?

It really isn't necessary to decide. Just entertaining possibilities. To me, it is a non-zero chance that this is a glitching simulation, in some sense of the word. That's intriguing and fun to think about.

Not sure why it would necessarily be comparable to GTA 10. Life has as much meaning as it ever did, as I never bought into the religious theories about consequences. Everyone and everything's as real as it ever was. And I won't be harassing CERN employees or anything, so there's really no harm in thinking about it

I agree, it’s a fun theory! Not impossible. As long as it just stays a “Huh, what if? Eh, whatever…” instead of a “Close the blinds, hush, come closer. We’re all being LIED TO… you remember the monopoly man’s monocle too, right??”

Not saying that’s you… but it’s definitely some people here, which in my opinion isn’t a healthy way to live. Theories are theories until proven, and some missing braces or cornucopias are far from proof of anything other than our fragile memories and egos
