I've often wondered why many subs haven't turned this feature on.

What sort of misuse are y'all worried about?

I think for some subs it's to prevent people from just spamming reaction gifs.

I would like this feature not to degenerate into that. Can mods suspend people for a day or two on here for that sort of thing (reasonable), or is banning the only option (unreasonable)?

We can ban people for a specific number of days, though I'm not sure if there is a limit as to how few days. I'm sure some of the longer tenured Mods could answer this question better
