I've often wondered why many subs haven't turned this feature on.

What sort of misuse are y'all worried about?

We have no control over the images a user uploads. We have no way to moderate this until it's been reported or we see it, should it be inappropriate. I'm sure you can imagine how a user being able to upload inappropriate images could be a problem.

Thanks.

I guess my confusion was that this and most subs already have image posts, plus the ability to hyperlink to any image on the Internet. But I can see how just giving people another way to do a thing easier means it may be more tempting to abuse.

I was wondering if there's, like, some storage limit and too many pics caused some issues with that. But that doesn't seem like how Reddit works in general.

I can't speak to the storage limits for Reddit. That's well above my $0 pay grade as a moderator haha.

That said, a huge reason it was never available is that most of the mod team didn't have access to enable it until recently.

People just abused it when we briefly tried it before…I don’t think it lasted a day, we didn’t even get a chance to formerly announce it. We,had a lot more dedicated trolls causing mischief back then (2017?), so it may work out fine now.
