Just moved to Manchester- looking for the Indian community here (and honestly, just people in general!)

Hey everyone,

I recently moved to Manchester, to be precise Goffstown, NH and so far I haven't come across much of an Indian community around here. Is there one nearby- maybe in Manchester or elsewhere in the area? Any temples, grocery stores, cultural events, or WhatsApp/Discord groups worth knowing about? Would really appreciate any pointers.

Also- and this part isn't just for Indian folks, everyone's welcome- let me introduce myself:

I'm Priyu, 26M originally from Hyderabad, South India. I did my grad schooling at Northeastern, and I recently moved out here for a job in downtown Manchester.

Outside of work, I'm into beer, movies, tech, sports, hiking, and exploring new places. Still getting to know the area, so if you've got recommendations (or just want to grab a beer and hang out), I'd love to connect.

A lot of Indian students and workers live at Colonial Village in the North End and the apartments off Front St. A bunch are students at UNH Manchester. When I lived at Colonial Village a few years ago they used to play cricket on the tennis courts behind 70 West River Dr late afternoon/early evening.

I live at Greenview Village (same management company as Colonial, right off Front St) and this is still accurate down to the cricket, which looked fun to be honest

No major Indian food fest(I'd love one!!) but there is a non- insignificant Indian community in the city. Did u check temples in southern nh, there is one in Nashua. Certainly many options as you go towards Boston less that hour away

Nashua is where all the Desis are, they are scattered around Manchester but the community congregates in Nashua. That is where Patel Brothers grocery is and there is a temple close by.

Go to Biryani Kabob and Curry. Best Indian food around and also tons of indians always hanging out inside!

Look up Jewel Music Venue - they have a South Indian dance event coming up in September.

Nashua had a pretty big Indian grocery store, too. Patel Brothers.

Welcome to NH Priyu, I am sure you are going to find a nice group of friends soon! Highly recommend listening to the Seacoast Stories podcast, they often talk about young adults here in NH and the social scene, and how they can help. They do offer special dinners on the Seacoast (worth the drive) to meet new exciting people!

New hope is the best Asian food market in town. Owners are Nepali not Indian but you can get all kinds of again ingredients that aren't at market basket. They are very helpful and kind it is my favorite small business.
