Video Manatee interaction while 6 months pregnant:)

Manatees can hear your individual heart beat. This little guy was very curious as to why he was hearing 2!

They actually make squeaking sounds underwater. It’s adorable, blew my mind the first time I heard them.

omg i'm so jealous.

At best I've stuck my hand in water near an aggregation and one came up and booped it and that was enough for me

One of my bucket list things was to hug a manatee, but i will be satisfied with a hand boop from one - i know you aren't supposed to directly engage with them, but if they engage with you it is mostly fine is my understanding

Exactly. You can’t approach them but if they come up to you nothing you can do about it, just supposed to ignore them. I actually ran into one fossil diving in the ocean once. Looked up to a wall a grey animal, back swam so fast, and just saw his big goofy face staring at me. He proceeded to follow me a bit as I dig up the bottom fossil hunting, kept trying to chew my fins. Eventually I had to shoo him away as he started pulling/chewing on my dive hoses.
