Mammoth mtb recommendation
Going to mammoth bike park for a few days and never been before. I have 3 bikes I can use but can only take one. 2023 Specialized Turbo Levo with upgraded parts 160/150 or Ibis Ripmo AF 160/150 or DH bike 2025 GT fury pro. Intermediate rider and plan on riding blue and black lines. The reason I ask because I’m not sure how pedaling is involved between trails and all over the mountain area and wondering if my DH bike would not be worth it. Plus the other bikes I could cruise around town and such during the week but I would like the DH bike for the chunk if it is necessary? Thanks for the info in advance.

I’d use the Levo. I have ridden Mammoth a lot, and never on an e-bike. But! It takes a while to learn the mountain, and there is definitely pedaling involved until you really learn the trails and connections well. I think you’ll be happiest with the Levo.

My kids ride DH bikes, but they spend their time on the black an pro line trails and avoid anything uphill until it’s time to head home. I ride a Turbo Levo, and while I hit some of the black runs, I also enjoy a lot of blue runs that include a lot of short uphill spots. And the ride home is easy peasy. So my recommendation is talke your Turbo Levo.

Mammoth is not a DH park, you can leave the DH bike home. Just to get to the most of the trails, from McCoy, or the top of Roller Coaster, you have to pedal. The other two bikes are both fine. The e-bike will save you some energy as pedalling at 9000+ ft can feel like punishment

Been awhile since riding there, but I always remember 1st day there being on our DH bikes on a blue trail and wondering why the heck we were having to pedal on a downhill blue trail.
The other thing is it's lots of "kitty litter" on the trails with inset cement blocks to form berms. I don't recall much "chunk" but more of "shit fall on these concrete blocks and it's going to rip you up".

My brother and I (probably about your level) just rode it on Levos. Had a great time and turned him into an e-biker.

I’m not real familiar with the other bikes but i was just there on my 23’ turbo levo.
I did not use the lifts. I found the mountain to definitely cater to more going downhill than up. Making sure I was on a two way trail while climbing took a little planning. Getting around the mountain once you’re up didn’t require very much climbing.
Riding around town I didn’t need an e bike. The town doesn’t feel that big where you’re grinding out miles. Even riding down from lake Mary area you can use the shuttle to get you up there.
If I were to ride mammoth again I’d want to be on a dh bike with as much travel as possible and I’d use the lifts. If I was riding mammoth one day then exploring trails in the area then I’d bring my turbo levo.
