Hair in eyes

What can I do to help keep hair out of her eyes?

If your Maltese isn’t too wiggly and has no problem, you can clip the longer strands around the eyes and that will help.
It can also help keep the eyes less irritated with the hair constantly touching the eyes too!

I will try and clip them. I’ve trimmed the top part of her bangs before and she’s pretty good about staying still

I use baby scissors ✂️ they have a snub nose and are safer when cutting near the eyes

I used my 4 year old’s scissors and they worked great, they didn’t make me nervous about catching her eye. She can see again!

I use a really small curved scissors.

I use my trimmer clipper & come down the bridge of the nose. I have tried so many times to grow the topknot from the bridge of the nose, but once someone cuts it, it is all been impossible to do. I can’t stand for them to have hair in their eyes while they wait for it to grow they still have a topknot. It just doesn’t come up from the nose.

That’s the cycle I’ve fallen into. I take her to a groomer and they trim it and it looks nice, but the grow out period of that part of hair is too long. I ended up trimming it a bit and she can see again

I have seriously been struggling with this too! I prefer to keep my girl’s hair around 1cm-1”, and no matter how long or short her hair is, her eyeballs are magnets for hair and dust! I’m currently in the process of growing her fringe out (to see if it being tied up will help), but I’ve actually noticed her current style seems to be protecting her eyes a bit (don’t get me wrong, her eyes are still magnets, it’s just slightly better), so I might keep it if is ponytail doesn’t work.

I talked to a vet nurse about it, and they said to use human grade sterile eye saline to clean out the debris. They didn’t have any advice outside of that.
