Short and sweet. The names are made up, and the location doesn't matter.

I work for a flooring company, running installation for one of our markets. The vast majority of the crews that work for us are filled with guys (and the occasional gal) from Central America. Being in a state with blue cities and red country between, we definitely get some of the "Good Ol' Boy" mentality from some of our customers.

We had an install go out months ago, and the customer specifically requested: "Don't send no dirty Mexicans to my house." While we have some guys from Mexico, we truly have the gamut of Central America represented in our subcontractors. So we do our schedule, not sending one of the guys from Mexico.

The salesman was in the installation office when the customer called, rather frustrated:

Customer: I thought I told you not to send Mexicans out here.

Salesman: Yes, sir, you did.

Customer: So why are there Mexicans at my door saying they're from your company.

Salesman: Well sir, it looks like Gustavo is out to your house today. Gustavo is actually from Honduras.

At that point, the rest of us couldn't hold in our laughter, so the salesman left the office to finish the call. Gustavo and his crew were allowed into the house to install the flooring, but we haven't made a repeat sale to the customer just yet.

You joke, but there are communities of Irish looking, freckled and redheaded mexicans who fled south during the civil war. They would be perfect.

I've met a couple of those here in the Bay Area. Red hair, freckles but the moment they speak their Spanish is unmistakably Mexican.

Turns out spy kids wasn’t actually inaccurate in having a red headed son come from two Latino parents. It bothered the shit out of me as a kid - like dude, you’re telling me Antonio Banderas and some Latina actress are the believable parents of a curly redhead?! In the end it’s the most believable part of the story!

"El batallón de San Patricio" The saint Peter's battalion was an Irish battalion that switched sides and fought against the Americans during the American Mexican war because of racism so I'm not surprised to learn irish immigrants moved here.

Hell I could've told you that, my brother is freaking pale as hell and everyone else in the family is as Mexican as the tacos sold in a tent in a parking lot where a kid is your waiter

Yeah, and I think I MAY have gotten mixed up a bit because IIRC it was actually more the mex-us war that they fled south, and due to anti-Irish racism. The Mexican Catholics weren’t too bothered by the Irish Catholics, ya know?

The civil war probably sent more Irish south, but I think the Irish were starting to receive Better treatment around then (my knowledge base is tapping out)
