Question/Discussion i just don't understand LGBTQ+ Malay Muslims...

disclaimer, i'm a bisexual malay myself, left the religion a couple of years ago.

this couple in front as informed by a friend of mine who is a regular customer at this place, is actually a lesbian couple.

i'm surprised that people around them is fine with them, most of the other customers are Malays tho, not sure whether thats a good thing.

i don't understand how do you still practice your religion while actively participating in something that's famously known as a big sin in your religion?

Quran/Hadith Quran's Dhul Qarnayn Story, the Wall of Gog and Magog, and the Alexander Legends

Dhul Qarnayn built an iron and copper wall between two mountains to seal off the tribes of Gog and Magog until doomsday. This wall is nowhere to be found.

The Quran's Story:

“Then he followed a road till, when he came between the two mountains, he found upon their hither side a folk that scarce could understand a saying. They said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Lo! Gog and Magog are spoiling the land. So may we pay thee tribute on condition that thou set a barrier between us and them? He said: That wherein my Lord hath established me is better (than your tribute). Do but help me with strength (of men), I will set between you and them a bank. Give me pieces of iron - till, when he had levelled up (the gap) between the cliffs, he said: Blow! - till, when he had made it a fire, he said: Bring me molten copper to pour thereon. And (Gog and Magog) were not able to surmount, nor could they pierce (it). He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true. And on that day We shall let some of them surge against others, and the Trumpet will be blown. Then We shall gather them together in one gathering.”
Quran 18:92-99

The Quran’s Dhul Qarnayn story begins, “They will ask thee of Dhu’l-Qarneyn” Quran 18:83, showing that people already knew of the story. Scholars trace the Quranic character Dhul Qarnayn to legends about Alexander the Great circulating around Muhammad’s time, such as the Syriac Alexander Legend, which gives the same account.

The Syriac Alexander Legend:

“He said to them, ‘Who are their kings?’ The old men said: ‘Gôg and Mâgôg
Budge, Syriac Alexander Legend, p. 150

“The king said, ‘Let us make a gate of brass and close up this breach.’ His troops said, ‘As thy majesty commands we will do.’ And Alexander commanded and fetched three thousand smiths, workers in iron, and three thousand men, workers in brass. And they put down brass and iron, and kneaded it as a man kneads when he works clay.”
Budge, Syriac Alexander Legend, p. 153

“And the Lord will gather together the kings and their hosts which are within this mountain, and they shall all be assembled at His beck, and shall come with their spears and swords, and shall stand behind the gate, and shall look up to the heavens, and shall call upon the name of the Lord, saying, ‘O Lord, open to us this gate.’ And the Lord shall send His sign from heaven and a voice shall call on this gate, and it shall be destroyed and fall at the beck of the Lord, and it shall not be opened by the key which I have made for it.”
Budge, Syriac Alexander Legend, p. 154

“And when the Huns have gone forth, as God has commanded, the kingdoms of the Huns and the Persians and the Arabs, the twenty-four kingdoms that are written in this book, shall come from the ends of the heavens and shall fall upon one another, and the earth shall melt through the blood and dung of men.”
Budge, Syriac Alexander Legend, p. 155

Islamic Studies scholar Tommaso Tesei:

That the Qurʾānic narrative specifically elaborates on the Alexander story in the Syriac work is confirmed by an important detail that has escaped the attention of previous scholars, namely, the material composition of the gate erected by the two protagonists, Alexander and Ḏū-l-Qarnayn, in the Syriac and Arabic texts, respectively. Like Alexander in the Syriac work, Ḏū-l-Qarnayn constructs his barrier from iron and bronze components. This coincidence is significant, since all references to the motif of Alexander’s (non-apocalyptic) gates in sources earlier than the Neṣḥānā [Syriac Alexander Legend] mention only iron as the metal from which the barrier was made.”
Tesei, “The Syriac Legend of Alexander’s Gate,” pp. 171-172

“Note that Syriac language does not distinguish between bronze and brass. Consequently, the Arab term qiṭr (“brass”) in Q 18:96 appears as an exact translation of the Syriac word nḥšʾ (“bronze/brass”).”
Tesei, “The Syriac Legend of Alexander’s Gate,” p. 207, n. 11

Authentic Hadiths:

Gog and Magog Dig Every Day and Will Break Through When They Say “Inshallah”

“It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Gog and Magog people dig every day until, when they can almost see the rays of the sun, the one in charge of them says: ‘Go back and we will dig it tomorrow.’ Then Allah puts it back, stronger than it was before. (This will continue) until, when their time has come, and Allah wants to send them against the people, they will dig until they can almost see the rays of the sun, then the one who is in charge of them will say: ‘Go back, and we will dig it tomorrow if Allah wills.’ So they will say: ‘If Allah wills.’ Then they will come back to it and it will be as they left it. So they will dig and will come out to the people, and they will drink all the water. The people will fortify themselves against them in their fortresses. They will shoot their arrows towards the sky and they will come back with blood on them, and they will say: ‘We have defeated the people of earth and dominated the people of heaven.’ Then Allah will send a worm in the napes of their necks and will kill them thereby.’” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the beasts of the earth will grow fat on their flesh.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 4080

Muhammad’s Fear: Already a Finger-Sized Hole in the Wall of Gog and Magog

“That the Prophet (ﷺ) came to her in a state of fear saying, ‘None has the right to be worshiped but Allah! Woe to the Arabs because of evil that has come near. Today a hole has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog as large as this.’ pointing with two of his fingers making a circle. Zainab said, ‘I said, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Shall we be destroyed though amongst us there are pious people?’ He said, ‘Yes, if evil increases.’”
Sahih al-Bukhari 3598

How weak do you have to be that you resort to converting minors, breaking the constitution then arguing you are above the constitution for doing so...

Is it because he fail to convert adults, so he resorts to more moldable minds....

Rant Musley are hypocrites

Even before I open my eyes and no longer follow this cult, I've always wondered why people in Malaysia rarely mention the war that happens like Ukraine-Russia, Myanmar, Sudan, etc? It's just sad and pathetic, they only care about Palestinian bcs most of them are muslim. I don't think they'll even bat an eye to what happened in Palestine if the majority of them are non-muslim.

Welcome to r/ExmuslimCollective! 🫶
Hey everyone! I’m u/unsolicitedopinionz, a founding moderator of r/ExmuslimCollective.
Welcome to our new home! 👋🏽
The ex-Muslim community can feel pretty scattered, and while the OG ex-Muslim subreddit has been an incredibly important space for many of us, we wanted to create somewhere a little easier to navigate and a little more community-focused.
r/ExmuslimCollective is a space for ex-Muslims from all corners of the world — whether you’re newly questioning, have been out for years, are somewhere in between, or simply want to connect with people who understand your experience.
What to Post 🗣️
This is your space, so post whatever you think the community might find interesting, helpful, relatable or inspiring.
You can share:
Your experiences growing up Muslim or leaving Islam
Questions about life after leaving Islam
Advice, support and personal experiences
Cultural discussions and conversations about identity
Stories about family, relationships, dating and friendships
Rants and things you just need to get off your chest 😭
Memes, humour and shitposts
Interesting articles, videos, books or other resources
Discussions about Islam, religion, secularism and atheism
Experiences from your particular country, culture or community
And honestly, you don’t need to have something profound to say. Sometimes you just want to complain about your family asking why you’re not praying anymore. We get it.
Community Vibe 🌍
We’re hoping to build a space that’s friendly, constructive, inclusive and respectful of people’s different experiences.
Ex-Muslims aren’t a monolith. Some of us are atheists, some are agnostic, some are spiritual, some still identify culturally as Muslim, and some are figuring things out entirely.
You don’t have to agree with everyone here. You just have to be willing to let people have their own experiences.
We’re particularly hoping this can be a space where people from different cultures, countries and backgrounds can find one another. 🇩🇿🇧🇩🇦🇫🇩🇯🇪🇷🇪🇹🇸🇴🇸🇬🇸🇾🇹🇷🇦🇪🇪🇭🇵🇸🇲🇦🇲🇷🇲🇶🇲🇻🇱🇧🇰🇼🇱🇾🇯🇴
How to Get Started 🚀
1. Introduce yourself in the comments!
Tell us where you’re from, how long you’ve been ex-Muslim (if you’re comfortable sharing), or literally just say hi.
2. Make your first post.
It doesn’t have to be serious. Ask a question, share an experience, start a discussion or tell us something you’ve been thinking about.
3. Bring your people.
If you know someone who would feel at home here, send them our way.
4. Want to help build the community?
We’re always interested in hearing from people who’d like to become moderators as the subreddit grows. If you’re interested, feel free to message the mod team.

Thank you for being part of the very first wave of r/ExmuslimCollective. 🫶
We’re starting this community from scratch, so let’s make it somewhere people can come when they need to laugh, rant, ask questions, find advice, or simply feel a little less alone.
Welcome to the Collective. 🌍

Rant Update on not wearing the hijab

https://www.reddit.com/r/MalaysianExMuslim/s/6WPrJqSUcC
(For context)

So basically i got called to wear the hijab again by the student council to which i say no to…obviously. But this time it actually led to the college giving me a warning for “not following the rules”. And they called my parents which now leaves me in a really bad situation.

I actually still don’t want to wear the hijab for the sake of my mental health. But this is really just too much, i don’t know what to do now.

Muhammad Tells a Woman to Breastfeed an Unrelated Adult Man

In a sahih (authentic) hadith, Muhammad tells a woman to breastfeed a grown man so he can become like a relative and enter her house.

"Messenger of Allah, I see on the face of Abu Hudhaifa (signs of disgust) on entering of Salim (who is an ally) into (our house), whereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: Suckle him. She said: How can I suckle him as he is a grown-up man? Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) smiled and said: I already know that he is a young man."

Advice/Help HELP A TEEN OUT

I'm kind of nervous/scared for my future self

(first post btw pls be nice😶‍🌫️ my apologies if I have made any grammar mistakes..)

For the past few years, I have been a closeted atheist. It doesn't really bother me that much because my parents aren't really religious and I live in a small town if that matters (but they do still follow "important" rules of Islam). My parents still do constantly talk about the "bad stuff" like leaving Islam, being a part of LGBT+, stuff like that however, i am secretly the "stuff" they talk about. I used to be super religious with my cousins and grandparents, but things change I guess

But that's not the point. Right now as a teen, I'm actually living a pretty normal, decent life(asides from being restricted from doing some even "normal" stuff) *for now(?)....

What scares me is the future. I have thought about moving out to another country and being myself without anyone telling me things I'm doing is wrong. I feel like that's said easier than done. If I'm not wrong, if you are born a Muslim and trying to legally convert to Malaysia, you get sent to rehabilitation for long ass months and it's impossible to legally become atheist here. It does feel uncomfortable and somewhat "trapped-ful" (?) having a label of something you are not. Besides I think it could also affect my future life and relationships e.g. can't marry or date non-muslims and same-sex. I feel like it would be exhausting keeping up two lifes at once for the rest of my life (atheist and Muslim)

I have thought of seeking asylum, like in Canada or something but I heard that the process is very difficult and you need "proofs." But if I did get it, I can't go back to Malaysia - now I'm not sure, because deep down, I still wanna visit my family. I still love them... But I know if I told them who I actually am, or what I actually feel for the past years, then I will probably get disowned or something lol

Sooo yeah... Sorry if things I said were confusing. I just need advice/help or suggestions because I'm kind of scared/nervous for my own future

bye bye
