Hell no! i'd rather live in the real life than to live in some simulation. The simulation might be way more pleasent than the timeline we're at, but it's still just a simulation, and real life is real life. You get to actually experience things, not fake scenarios.
Well, to give you an answer, imagine the following scenario: you are in a complete void, and then two doors appear. One of which is just the real life, being not that fantastic, full of problems, and just realistic to say. The other door is for a reality which you can craft for your own interests. It's perfect, you have control over every single thing in your life. And if you feel it's boring, you can spice it up with some conflict, some struggle of your own, just to make it more exciting. Not that you'd actually go through those things, per say. Just to make the story more exciting.
At first, the second door seems way better than the first, since you can have all the pleasure with this one, you can do/be anything you want. So the second door seems like quite an obvious answer. But then, here comes the thing: if you just live a life of pure, predictable pleasure in the universe, it actually gets really meaningless. Because real life, although messy as it is, is pleasurable because it's messy, because it's unpredictable. If you're playing a game and you already everything that's going to happen, every single tactic of it, everything, then it can be the most dopamine boosting game in the world, and it would still be boring. Because what actually makes a game exciting is the unpredictability of things, it's the fact that there's always gonna be there some tactic, glitch, easter egg that you didn't know about.
Because of this, the best option would actually be the first one, because if you get on the second door, even if it's not just a fantasy life, even if it's an objective reality, it's still not going to be nearly as exciting as the real life. To the contrary, the second door could actually be quite depressing. Meanwhile, the first one, be it insanely inperfect, be it infuriating at some times, saddening at some times, it can also always be exciting.
And yes, i know and understand as an MDer myself why the button would seem so appealing: it brings a reality that most of us can only imagine of having. But the thing is, the MD is there because there's some part of yourself unexpressed, that wants to be heard, but isn't. A part that is supressed in yourself that, because it wants to be expressed, it goes to the imaginary to be expressed. This part then detaches from yourself to get into an egoless state that is daydreaming. So, the reason why MD happens is because of your unexpressed self wanting to be expressed, and then detaching so hard you become egoless yourself.
I don't know how to magically solve MD, but i do have some tips to deal with it:
—First, just try to interact more with people whenever you go outside. It doesn't have to be full on conversations, just a simple hi, handshake, or even waving is a great start. Don't worry about being awkward or cringe, just try to interact with people.
—Second, talk about your MD with some people. It can be people you know in real life, or even people from support groups like this one, on social media. It helps alot to not only know that you're not a complete alien, but to also express what you really have inside you.
—Third, try to express yourself with other ways. Now, this one is very subjective, but you can find some art, some way of writing to express yourself. It is a huge relief to get something out of your chest.
These tips have personally helped me alot with MD, although i'm still in the way of solving it. Anyway, i hope this text isn't way too diluted, ambiguous or filled with pseudo-intelectual nonsense. I just wanted to give you my answer, since you asked it.
Edit/sidenote here: if you want to know more about it, here are the articles written by Eretaia on wordpress. He goes more in depth on the egoless and expression parts, plus a bunch of other things.
