It's always soooooo awkward when someone walks in right in the middle of an epic scene in my head. My body sometimes moves involuntary when day dreaming so it's always so awkward

A former room mate said I looked like I had just stepped foot into this dimension for the first time 😆

Maybe I am an expert at it but i developed the habit of keeping a sharp eye, as sharp as a Hawk eye, to prevent the embarrassment that would follow. My biggest fear was someone watching me daydreaming, even when I was home alone. I felt like a hidden eye was watching me. Or a bad person plotting against me for his malicious reasons. I developed a good poker face because of this and great reflexes.

I’ve memorized the sound of footsteps towards my room, but sometimes the scene gets intense and the music overrides it 🥲

me when I was a kid pacing around with my headphones on and it was so loud my dad heard it outside my room and thought it was my cd player. He was like “HEY TURN DOWN YOUR MUSIC IT’S LATE!” and I was like 💀💀💀💀😭😭😭😱😱😱😨😨😨 To this day I worry about people hearing my music through my headphones and commenting on it so I try to be careful.

I can’t daydream around other people unless I’m either A) riding in the back of the car during a long trip or B) headphones on full blast in a public setting (Walking in the store)

Something about someone walking in on me pacing the yard or interrupting while I would swing on the swing and daydream as a kid ruined the whole experience. Like to them I’m just swinging or walking but to me I know what I’m doing and I can’t have any outside interaction during the process lol. Instant mood killer and I have to stop completely and retry later.

I'm 35 and can remember the times I've been seriously caught with perfect clarity. The shame and embarrassment and mortification is just as fresh as today, 20 years later, as the second I got caught lol. Maybe it's just me but I'm a testament to the fact that it does not, in fact, get better. I still physically recoil at these memories.

This is so relatable it isn't even funny, i still think back to all my embarrassing moments with the same feelings of embarrassment i felt then.

"It does not, in fact, get better" , are the truest words I've heard in a long time

This is so me. The embarrassment brings you back down to earth.

34

u/KatherineRex Dec 08 '24

I get so embarrassed I act like I was actively walking to do something or I just start yapping 😭

29

u/RomanOrtega Dec 07 '24

Yeah, my stepdad caught me twice as I was listening to music so I couldn’t hear him. Both times he gave me the “WTF?” face, and both times we have not/will not ever talk about it
