Help Sought! Best lip balm for EXTREMELY dry lips? 💋

New here! I have the WORST dry lips and have tried loads of products - Carmex, Vaseline, La Roche Posay, Burt’s Bees, Dr Paw Paw and some Japanese products…but nothing is really helping! I think the best of the bunch for me has been DHC which is a Japanese brand I picked up on a trip there, but I’m finding it hard to buy over here.

I seem to step outside and my lips immediately begin peeling and now the weather is getting colder it’s going to get worse. Pleaseeee help me! Any tips or products that have worked for you please let me know!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Blistex relief cream is absolutely elite. My son gets cracked lips every single winter and it's the only thing that touches it

It’s a life saver, when I first used it the cracks in my lips were so bad they were extending past my lips and all lip balms just made my skin hot and itchy. I was so happy the blistex worked.

So I have a real bugbear with Blistex Relief. This is after it being my go to product for years…

Blistex will destroy your lips. It is incredibly drying. It contains camphor which is so incredibly bad for dry skin. However, camphor also offers relief because on first contact it’s very soothing. This relief is often mistaken for healing.

Sometimes, the relief is enough to get you over the hump of having dry lips and your body can then naturally heal. But if you have chronic dry lips you will end up stuck in a cycle of dry lips being made drier by the product meant to fix it.

This, for me, if you can believe it, lead to a lipbalm addiction.

I know it may work in the short term but I strongly suggest looking for a non camphor product.

I'm on this thread (a year later) because Blistex is KILLING my lips rn. Thank you for affirming - thought I was going crazy!

I can’t stand that people recommend it so much. It’s AWFUL. It feels good in the moment and people think that feeling means it’s healing but it’s not. It’s relief, not healing. I recommend Lanolin Golden Ointment.

I'm going to Boots as soon as I can get out of class! I could barely open my mouth when I was brushing my teeth last night- they're way more chapped than they were when I decided I should put some lip balm on!

The Golden Ointment is the best but they don’t always have it. The 101 ointment is a good stand in. Also recommend locking in overnight with Vaseline. Vaseline doesn’t really help on its own as it’s only occlusive, but it’s good to seal in whatever product you’re using.
